  1. Ack! Peas are another problem. Daughter loves them but is now allergic. When I was growing up, we dined out a lot. So we often got whatever we wanted to eat, within reason. I have to have a quick meal tonight so will make pasta. Will see how that goes.
  2. I wish I could remove the junk food from the house but I have to buy it for my husband. He screams and yells if we don't have it. And my parents didn't help by sending home all those bags of potato chips every day.
  3. I've tried to get her involved with the cooking but she says I am being mean. She will only help if it is her idea or if the meal is much delayed and she is starving. She ate tacos when she was little. Refuses to eat them now. Will only eat them occasionally in a restaurant and only if she is allergic to everything else on the menu. I refuse to allow...
  4. Which is exactly what she wants me to do. That's her excuse for eating junk. And if she can't get it from me, she will get it from her dad, or call grandma or whatever it takes. I have taken her to the grocery store many times and told her to pick out what she wants to eat for the week. She can tell me a million things she doesn't want, but it's rare...
  5. The child psychology thing worked for her up to about age 4. Now it doesn't work. I do have a hard time getting her to take supplements. She is big for her age and her Drs. consider her an adult now. So swallowable vitamins and she hates those. I keep forgetting to give them to her too. Must try harder to remember.
  6. The last several things I have made in the crock pot, she has refused to eat. I made pot roast the other day with carrots and potatoes. She refused to even try the meat. Ate one little piece of potato and said it was disgusting. It wasn't. It was really good. I was getting recipes from the blog site where the woman did a different crock pot recipe...
  7. I have not tried it in baked goods because they all seem to require more eggs than normal. I'm badly allergic to eggs. I did try it in meatballs along with some ground flax. Taste and texture was good, but I had more like meat lumps and not balls. Husband is Italian and he liked them.
  8. I don't have an answer for this, but just curious what you are using cold cream for? I haven't had a need for it since I used stage makeup back when I danced or was on stage in high school. These days, the kids use regular makeup. I think the lighting is so much better than it was in those days, no need for heavy pancake. What we used was Crisco, or...
  9. I was shocked to see an episode on one of Gordon Ramsey's shows where he made burgers by adding eggs and other things to the mix. Can't remember if there were bread crumbs or not, but the eggs were bad enough for me given my severe egg allergy! I do think most restaurants serve plain hamburger patties. Probably frozen ones. I would avoid ordering any...
  10. I believe Goji and Acai have benefits. Not sure about Mangosteen. Husband was told to drink it following kidney cancer. I found the cheapest place to buy it (although still not cheap) was Costco.
  11. You can get soy free chocolate here: Open Original Shared Link Do be careful though as it's not all gluten-free. Enjoy Life also makes gluten-free and soy free chocolate bars and chips. You can buy them right here at this site (and other places online) if you can't find them in any stores near you. I can easily buy the chocolate chips but only...
  12. I'd be afraid of a hot dog unless I knew what was in it. Hamburger patties are usually safe. We eat them cut up with no bun. Fries are subject to cross contamination. Safe at some places, but a plain baked potato is a better option. One restaurant here served Kielbasa. Gluten free but does contain soy if you're avoiding that. Bacon and ham are usually...
  13. I have not eaten at McDonalds in years. I do not trust them since they said they fries were vegan but contain beef. And then they didn't disclose the milk and wheat in their fries. What else are they not telling us? If I had to eat there for some reason, I would get the apples. They are in a package and I would feel they were safe. I do eat at Wendys...
  14. If you have a dehydrator, you must try this recipe! Open Original Shared Link Do not use the Nama Shoyu. It is not gluten-free. You can use gluten-free soy sauce instead or just put in a pinch of sea salt. I use the salt. To shape, I make little squares the size of finger sandwiches. The person who posted this looks like she did hers thin...
  15. I make a quick soup with canned or boxed chicken broth, canned or pouch chicken and some gluten-free noodles. Used to put in peas and carrots but daughter hates cooked carrots and is now allergic to peas. I used to use Tinkyada Little Dreams for the pasta, but daughter said she wanted spaghetti. Again, I used Tinkyada, the brown rice kind. Broke it into...
  16. I like pasta salad with Italian dressing. I have diabetes too, so I put in a large amount of fresh vegetables and olives in proportion to the pasta. You can also add dry/hard salami cut in strips.
  17. The lady at my health food store who is a celiac tried to sell me such bread, telling me that when spelt or wheat is sprouted, it becomes a "living" product. Yeah... So? People are still allergic to it and I don't think it is good for celiacs. Why you didn't react to it, I don't know.
  18. You can make a layered casserole with other pasta. It would be like lasagna but I would call it a layered casserole and not lasagna. Just make sure the top is totally covered in sauce so the pasta doesn't dry out. People on low carb diets make lasagna without any pasta at all. Instead they use layers of eggplant or zucchini. The cheese and sauce is...
  19. I don't know, but... I had some peanut butter filled pretzels (sorry, not gluten-free) that I was concerned about. I wrote to the company and they e-mailed back with a letter from the president saying they were free of salmonella. I suspected they wouldn't use that kind of peanut butter product because they were organic and I believe that the cereal...
  20. High fructose corn syrup is the cheap and common thing to use here as a sweetener.
  21. I don't think they claim to be unprocessed. Some claim to be raw but the peanut butter ones are not. Even the raw ones are processed. They would have to be to make a bar.
  22. When we were there a few months ago, there was a shaker of seasoning on the table. It did contain soy but it didn't appear to contain gluten.
  23. I thought that was more of a bakery than a restaurant. But I've never been there. I'm out in Bothell so that's a tad far for me to go.
  24. We had one here in Seattle/Edmonds. It's no longer there and when it was there, it had more than its share of problems. Although the food tasted good, I could not recommend the place for people with additional food allergies, anyone in a hurry, anyone who didn't want to listen to fighting.
  25. You can get single serve packets of peanut or almond butter and jelly at minimus.biz and other places. You can then send those in with the bread separately to make a sandwich. Or you can get single serve packets of mustard or mayo and send the cheese and meat separately. Trail mix is another good lunch. You can mix up your own so have what you want...
