  1. "Now how long does it take before this goes away?"---ggrrrrrrr
  2. Danna Korn has "Living Gluten Free for Dummies" and "Wheat Free, Worry Free". Peter Green's "Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic" All are very good and very informative. Green's can get a bit technical , though, but I would still highly recommend them all.
  3. I come from the planet Gluton, of course. Hence, the only defense against my superpowers are gluten
  4. The only place we ate in Orlando other than the Disney Parks was at Outback Steakhouse. There are several in the area. The one we ate at was on 192 about a mile from the disney exits. They were very knowledgeable and I had no problems, ate there twice.
  5. Since we're not suppossed to lick envelopes because the sticky adhesive contains gluten, I would also question the sticky adhesive on the rolling papers. Not that I'd be advocating marijuana use, but God made marijuana and man made beer, who do you trust?
  6. Ok, I'm seeing a correlation here, that's three former Laugh-In fans, and we all have celiacs..... Very interesting( I loved Artie Johnson)
  7. Oh, the looks that ought to get me at the mall! I think I'll try it
  8. Yea, try fitting a double roll of Xtra soft Cottonelle in your Wallet! I'm as secure in my manhood as the next guy, but I don't do "man bags"
  9. Giving my dog a piece of gluten free bread and watching him literally spit it 5 feet across the room...priceless
  10. Fruity, Berry, and Cocoa Peebles are indeed gluten free. Cocoa Krispies are NOT. I'm not sure if you were just inquiring about Peebles, but there is also a cereal called Cocoa Krispies. Just wanted to make sure you didn't confuse the two. BTW, Cocoa Peebles make an awesome substitute for rice krispie treats Red Bull and Vault energy drinks are gluten...
  11. >>>Cyber Hugs<<< Glad you're feeling a little better. Yes, it does suck that not only do we have to make a MAJOR lifestyle change, but are still left to feel the awful effects of a glutening, no matter how careful we've been. I know when I've been glutened, I don't like to have to deal with anyone, and most of them don't feel like...
  12. As he should be. Tell him we'll make him an honorary Celiac, but we'll look the other way if he wants to cheat on the diet
  13. I believe Trix just changed their formula and now use corn flour instead of wheat flour, but I would call them first to verify. About the only use I've found for the gluten free cereals are to use the Enjoy Life Cranapple Crunch to mix in with my yogurt The new new Berry flavored Peebles are gluten free as well. I also use cocoa peebles as a substitute...
  14. Ok then it's settled... We'll go with SHG instead of CC, as long as we don't confuse SHG with MSG which everyone knows was created by the CIA and FBI to give us all IBS and thus take over the USA after they discarded the KGB, who shot JFK
  15. Yes, yes, and yes!!! Those things are AWESOME!!! That's what I had for breakfast everyday at while at DisneyWorld. Had a little trouble with the timer on the microwave on the first one, just about melted it into a pile of goo. Stuck it in the fridge for a few minutes and ate it anyway, still yummy
  16. A brilliant idea, I love it! But for those of us that are keyboard challenged, CC is so much easier to type than second hand gluten
  17. I knew it, I go away on vacation for 1 week and the topic I've been waiting for pops up! Anyhoo. I was dx'd two months ago. Weight down to 111 lbs and in hospital from lack of nutrients, basically I was not absorbing anything. Started gluten free diet and began a high intensity weight lifting program. Took a couple weeks to work up to 5000 cals a day...
  18. Can't really help you, but I know CarlaB is well versed in probiotics but she is on vacation. Hopefully, if I bump this thread she'll see it when she returns and can help you out. If not, just restart the topic when you see her posting again or send her a PM, I'm sure she'd be more than happy to help out.
  19. As I repearedly tell my wife, finding out I had celiac disease was the BEST thing to ever happen to me. I eat healthy, feel 100 times better than I have in forever, and have sold off my stock in Pepto Bismol and Tums
  20. Two great points. When I was dx'd and went gluten free I had lost a considerable amount of weight that I really couldn't afford to lose. As a result, I began eating 6 meals a day and trying to consume between 4500-5000 calories. It was a challenge, but I had to plan well ahead and make sure I was always stocked with stuff I could readily eat. This became...
  21. Just got back from vacation at DisneyWorld and man, did they ever live up to everyone's praises on this board!!! Liberty Tree tavern at the Magic Kingdom is an absolute must. Chef Al came out and talked to me and brought my meal out himself. I could't have any of the deserts on the menu, but he made a chocolate brownie-cake special with raspberry icing...
  22. This isn't kinder or gentler, but it is the cold, hard truth. People who do things like this have serious issues with being self-absorbed. If they think they have a point, they will go to great lengths to prove that point with no regard to potential consequences. Kinder and gentler? People like that are morons, pure and simple. And dangerous morons at...
  23. To piggy back what everyone else has said, definately not worth the risk. I wouldn't share my whole kitchen if I didn't have to
  24. I second (or third) the cutting out the Lay's and diet coke. I had some Lay's about a week after going gluten free and the tummy did not like it one bit. I don't know if it's the oil that they use or a CC issue, but many people seem to not deal well with them. As for the soda, I used to drink 4 or 5 Coke's a day, along with a couple cups of coffee. When...
  25. I was actually in the hospital being treated for mal-nourishment when I was dx'd. They put me on a gluten free diet. At this particular hospital, you call down to the kitchen to order your meals, kinda like room service. Once my chart was marked as gluten free diet, it evidently comes up on their food services computers and items that contain gluten are flagged...
