  1. Not to mention the fact that real estate is lagging right now and it should be easy to find something else that fits, if that's what you want.
  2. Good idea! Just make sure it's plain yogurt, pref. organic, definitely don't need all that extra sugar. I add frozn fruit, like cherries, makes a yummy syrup when it melts, and it's just plain fruit.
  3. Well, good lord girl, give yourself a minute to breathe! Very rarely does anyone get better right away, and I think it WILL take a while for the bacterial stuff in your system to straighten out. You're still healing, it may take some time. But you're doing the exactly right thing. And if it makes you feel any better, I didn't know that rye was unsafe for...
  4. Hmm, well, sounds to me like you're doing everything right, as far as my knowledge extends. How long have you been gluten-free, by the way? For foods that are healing to the digestive tract, I'd try Weston Price's website, also. I found a farm that sells goat milk out in Mendon, not sure if they're operational or taking new customers or if you'd really...
  5. I was actually asking because so many dairy things can be so very beneficial, ESPECIALLY raw milk, ESPECIALLY raw goat's milk if you can get it. A lot of people who can't tolerate normal dairy can tolerate raw goat's milk. Actually, after the last time I got glutened, I became temporarily lactose intolerant for the first time. I found that taking a lactase...
  6. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time with all this. I know what it's like to have doctors say they just don't know what to do for you. Have you ever considered taking probiotics, not antibiotics? See, the problem with antibiotics is that they kill indiscriminatley, so when the course is finished, both the bad AND the good bacteria are dead. Typically...
  7. I usually use mixes like that to make pan-fried chicken, or you could use it to make oven-fried chicken. I just add lemon pepper and garlic and my boyfriend LOVES it...... Or you could maybe try a waffle iron?
  8. Really? I thought Glutino had corn in it... I better look again next time I'm there.
  9. Yep, that's probly the pepto. The bit of blood was probably just from maybe not going for longer than you're used to and then having the anus stretched, when it's just a bit of fresh red that only shows up on the paper it's usually 'external', from the anus itself, and not from the inside of the colon. That and pepto poo can be harder than normal poo.
  10. Trav, it may be that you have a wheat ALLERGY separate from a wheat INTOLERANCE. You know how someone with a cat allergy feels funky for a few hours, depending on the severity of their allergy, and then they're ok after being in clear air? That's my only idea, since an intolerance is an internal reaction, and an allergy typically has external reactions, that...
  11. This is funny, my name is Julie too... Maybe it's a baker gene or something....
  12. Hi Cheri. I realize this is off-topic, but I'll be your friend forever if you give me the recipe to the freaking wonderful-looking bread in your picture!!!!! If it tastes as good as it looks, that is....
  13. The only tinkyada I've had luck with 'al dente' with is the spaghetti. I don't normally go for al dente though, so I'm not much help there. For pizza crusts, my favorite is the Whole Foods Gluten-free Bakery crusts, they come out a tiny bit squishy in the middle, but that might have something to do with the inordinate amount of toppings my boyfriend heaps...
  14. Um, the only thing I can think of is weedkiller, or whatever might kill wheat?
  15. I have a few suggestions. The things that helped me the most were to use the melatonin, but the key is to take it 1/2 hour before bed, and turn the lights down, so your body thinks it's bedtime. I also use a heating pad set to a two hour turn-off, because I have upper back pain, and the heat puts me to sleep easily as long as the room itself is cool enough...

    ARCHIVED Women

I don't know much about not getting your periodbecause of celiac, but I used to get the worst nausea when I hadn't figured out my celiac yet, because of all the diarhea cramps. I sometimes still get it when I have period cramps, the cramping of your uterus can affect your intestines, causing nausea from the riling up of everything, is my understanding. For...
  17. I've actually never had a problem in a restaurant, even ones who've never heard of a gluten free menu. I just say I can't have anything with wheat in it, and ask to see the ingredients in anything that's suspect, and noone's ever given me a hard time. I had one waiter cut the ingredients list off a box and bring it out because he wasn't sure!
  18. I haven't had that problem, but I use mini-chips and I also use quinoa flakes for half the flour instead of plain flour, so my batter's usually a bit thicker and maybe that helps hold them up? It wouldn't be a bad idea tobutter flour the pan too though. Do you bake in glass?
  19. Not to mention the fact that brownies and pretzels are very easy to make gluten-free! Try the baking and recipes forum, there was a soft pretzel recipe there recently. And if you don't feel like making them, you can get gluten-free brownies in the freezer section at most health food stores. I like Foods By George........
  20. Two comments from me. One is, YOU FELT BETTER OFF GLUTEN!!!! Who cares if you have celiac disease, really? What's more important, being happy and healthy and doing whatever you want whenever you want without fear of illness, or getting to eat certain foods you don't want to give up and feeling like crap all the time? There is a great deal of misunderstanding...
  21. I'm sorry, but I must disagree. I've had both the hot fudge cake recipe on the homepage here, and I've had a few different cakes by the Gluten-free Pantry, especially the chocolate chip cake. Not only do I love that stuff, but I have to beat off the rest of the family. There is good gluten-free food out there!
  22. I've made a few things with coconut flour, and i've found that most online recipes just don't make much. I usually have to cdouble a recipe to get a 'normal' amount of bread or cupcakes. It is very healthy, but you better REALLY like coconut if thats the only flour you're using. I tend to prefer it added to something else. I'm totally trying those biscuits...
  23. Can I go off-topic here? I tried to ask a question about Dermatitis Herpetiformis on the DH forum, but that was a number of days ago and no one has responded. I'd really like some advice, would anyone be willing to answer a few questions I have about it?
  24. Meredith, I used to have symptoms that came and went as well. No explanation, just the body trying to recover on it's own I guess.
  25. Thanks for the info! Good to know.....
