  1. People with celiac disease cannot tolerate wheat, barley, rye, and oats. Like Kaiti said, almost all oats are contaminated with wheat. There is a controversy about the safety of pure uncontaminated oats for people with celiac disease. Some people have had villi damage from pure uncontaminated oats because the protein is very similar to gluten and other people...

    ARCHIVED Yasmin

I found a list of the inactive ingredients on this website: Open Original Shared Link "YASMIN's Aust R number is 77039. As well as its active ingredients, YASMIN contains lactose monohydrate, maize starch, Povidone, pregelatinized starch, magnesium stearate, Macrogol, hydroxylpropylmethyl cellulose, talc, titanium dioxide, yellow ferric oxide." I'm not...
  3. Maybe ask the doctor for a celiac gene test for yourself, to see if you have the celiac gene, and then just mention that you would like to get your kids tested for celiac disease. Here is a list of tests that you could ask for. Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Total Serum...
  4. Thanks for the list Same here.
  5. Thanks for the information Linda! I like having updates! My favorite flavour of Mrs. Dash is the Original. I use that flavour all the time!
  6. If they start telling you a gross story maybe try changing the subject really quick or say that you have to go to the bathroom.
  7. Maybe the popcorn was contaminated with gluten. Were they selling hotdogs or hamburgers? Maybe there was gluten in the seasoning or the butter flavour?
  8. Tingling and numbness is a symptom of celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link Before I was first dignosed, I would get some tingling on my right side, mostly near my neck.
  9. I have read before that the casein and soy proteins are similar to gluten. Maybe casein and soy are sometimes confused with gluten in people with celiac disease, and the antibodies attack the intestinal wall because the protein is mistaken for gluten? I don't believe that this would happen to everyone with celiac disease, but maybe to those people who have...
  10. I'm sorry Did you eat out at any restaurants or introduce any new foods?
  11. I'm not really sure... I'm guessing that casein and soy could cause intestinal damage; however, I am not sure if intestinal damage from soy or casein is common. I would suggest getting allergy and intolerance tests to see if you are allergic/intolernce to certain foods.
  12. I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well
  13. Many people with celiac disease have an intolerance to lactose until their villi heal. The enzyme that digests lactose is located in the tips of the villi. Therefore, when the villi are damaged, some lactose can go undigested and cause problems. Maybe try eliminating dairy for awhile and see how you feel. If you decide to eliminate dairy, I recommend drinking...
  14. You could also try making fruit smoothies with rice or almond milk. Smoothies can be quite similar to ice cream if they are made the right way. Just add more fruit! This is my smoothie recipe: Berry Smoothie 1 1/4 cups frozen blueberries/raspberries/mixed berries 1 to 1 ½ cups Vanilla rice milk (Natur-a riceum), or Vanilla Almond milk (Almond Breeze)...
  15. I have read that casein, the milk protein and soy can cause a "flattened or blunted intestinal surface". I read this on page 41 of Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall.
  16. I recommend eating blueberries! Research suggests that blueberries may help improve memory. I eat Europe's Best frozen blueberries and they are very good! I try to eat about 1 cup of frozen blueberries a day. Open Original Shared Link Here is some information that I have found: "A Better Brain with Blueberries In animal studies, researchers have found...
  17. I found the bouillon at Sobey's, my local grocery store. I find that the larger grocery stores tend to carry the most products. If you cannot find McCormick bouillon, maybe try and see if you can find Imagine chicken broth. Imagine chicken broth could replace the bouillon in my recipes. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link "Are the soups...
  18. Thanks! I did get that recipe from a gluten-free cookbook though. I'm going to modify the recipe when I make it myself. Here is another good recipe: Omelette 1 green/yellow/orange pepper, diced 1 red pepper, diced 1 onion, diced 3-4 cloves of garlic, mined 1 tbsp Mrs. Dash Original Spice 1-2 tbsp olive oil 2-3 eggs hot chili sauce (I use Thai...
  19. Thanks, I thought that all of their products were gluten-free.
  20. I have had similar problems when eating at someone else's house. In the past, I was worried about hurting people's feelings if I didn't eat their food and then I got sick and was sick for about a week. Some people just don't understand how to avoid cross-contamination. Eating potentially contaminated food at someone else's house is just not worth getting...
  21. Scallaped Potatoes with a New Twist 1 medium onion, diced 1/2 cup celery leaves 3 tsp butter/soy butter 2 tbsp potato starch 2 tbsp gluten-free chicken stock powder or 2 McCormick all-vegetable bouillon (vegetable, chicken, or beef) 3 to 4 cups of water (I'm sure you could use something like almond or rice milk) 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper...
  22. Have you tried any new products or ate at any restaurants?
  23. I haven't made scalloped potatoes in a long time, I'm not even sure if I have ever made them! I will look for a good recipe and I will post it here. I think that one of my gluten-free cookbooks has a recipe.
  24. Banana boat sunscreen is gluten-free.
  25. I got the salad dressing at Sobey's. Do you have a Sobey's in your area? If not, Zares may sell them. Try and look in the larger stores. I find that the smaller grocery stores are less likely to sell special products.
