  1. It is confusing because of the way that stuff is labeled. There are some companies that will clearly list wheat or oat ingredients like, Dove, Suave, Garnier for a couple. If you prefer organics Burts Bees and Giovanni make some really great stuff. Both have soy though if that is an issue for you. I loved the Giovanni products until I developed an allergy...
  2. Anything that leaves a residue that can be picked up and transferred to the mouth or nose can be an issue for some that are supersensitive or may have open DH lesions. For those who are not supersensitive it may not be an issue. If it has never been an issue for you then don't worry about it.
  3. I use Free and Clear with no problems when I do use dryer sheets.
  4. Rizla papers are said to be safe although the safest is to use a pipe. If you do a board search with the words 'rolling papers' there are a lot of threads that will show up.
  5. Start out with the same tests that are use to diagnose adults. Get the blood panel and if you want one a biopsy. With your being diagnosed your ped should have no issues doing this. If those come back negative then you can think about perhaps doing Enterolab or just take him gluten free and see what happens.
  6. In any of the ranges I have seen that would be a firm positive. If you are not planning on having the endoscopsy done I would start the diet. You may find your diabetes is easier to control once you have healed a bit so keep good track of your BG numbers and A1C levels. If you are prediabetic rather than diabetic that may even reverse. You should get your...
  7. That the person has celiac. The normal range should be given in the test results. Even a low positive on celiac tests is positive. False negatives are much more common especially in children.
  8. My doctors almost killed me because they didn't realize the high rate of false negatives with celiac testing. You can definately have negative blood work and still be celiac. You can even have a false negative on the biopsy and still be celiac. Now that you have had the endo you can start a trial of the diet. You may have the answer from your bodies response...
  9. Yes it is possible to be seeing a difference quickly. However, if you have not had him tested for celiac you really should do so before starting on the diet. If he does need to be gluten free there are things that will need to be accomodated in school. That is easier with a diagnosis. So if he has not at least had a blood test to screen for celiac please...
  10. Jae, the original post was 5 years old. Companies do change formulas so please be sure to check the label and ingredients. ConAgra will clearly list gluten ingredients, as far as I know, so if you don't see 'wheat, rye or barley' listed it should still be safe.
  11. This is gluten free but it is does have soy. I spent quite a while thinking I was reacting to lots of gluten-free products until I realized I couldn't do soy. My reaction to soy is not exactly the same as it is to gluten but especially early on it was hard to tell the difference. IF you find you are reacting to some gluten free items check and make sure that...
  12. The genetic tests can not absolutely rule celiac out. Many times companies only check for DQ2 or DQ8 and don't test for the other 7 celiac associated genes. I am really, really thankful that I didn't have gene testing done till after I was firmly diagnosed. I would have been told there was no chance I could be celiac as I don't carry one of those 2 genes...
  13. The best person to answer that is going to be your pharmacist. I take one generic med and sometimes one company makes it and sometimes it is another. My pharm checkes my generics with each refill as even in the same oompany binders can change at any time.
  14. I would think you have finally fully healed. Do not go back to gluten, that would be a big mistake even if you don't get symptoms right away. Be happy to have finally healed and enjoy that little person.
  15. I take pepto bismal liquid, name brand, for the pain. I do not medicate the D at all.
  16. It does have 11g of sugar per serving. That is over 2x the amount in the Buckwheat flakes and 9g more than rice chex. I didn't realize it had that much sugar in it compared to the other cereals I eat.
  17. Hello and welcome. I am glad you are starting to see improvement and I hope it continues at a good pace. I am someone who considers gluten intolerance and celiac manifestations of the same thing. One of the reasons why I think that way is because I have DH. If you have DH you have a diagnosis of celiac and no other testing is needed. But if you have other...
  18. Pocono Cream of Buckwheat, great when glutened or on a cold morning. Bakery on Main granola's are an almost daily treat. I like all of them.
  19. I would call and ask what the tocopherol is derived from.
  20. That was a very old post. I had cut out rice way back then in part because I had been misdiagnosed with diabetes. It was coincidental that my hair starting growing back when the rice was eliminated, I think. The regrowth had more to do with the vitamins and finally going to a more completely whole foods diet. I have also discovered since that I have issues...
  21. Well we know you don't have IBS, that does not wake someone up at night like that. So told to me by my clueless GI while he was begging for forgiveness for misdiagnosising me for years. I would get onto the diet and stay on it if I were you. It sounds like eliminating gluten helped a lot and adding it back in caused a severe reaction. Your body is trying...
  22. Do try the diet even if the test results are negative as there is a high rate of false negatives. A positive is a postive though even if the level seems low. You will get used to it and travel and adventure are still going to be possible. You can get multilingual dining cards that will let places know what you need to avoid. Also many European countries...
  23. My first took over 10 years. I was only trying for about 2 years and then gave up but never used BC after that and thought I couldn't have children. My second was concieved within 6 months. Both were concieved prediagnosis.
  24. Do get gluten out of your toiletries. Look for wheat germ oil, VitE can also be a source. Suave, Dove and Garnier will clearly label wheat based ingredients. If you like organics Burts Bees and Giovanni have a lot of safe products. Do check out the products section of the board to see what others use and recommend. It can take up to 2 years for the antibodies...
  25. Celiac does have an inflammatory component for many of us that goes beyond the gut. Those antibodies seem to be able to attack any organ or system. That inflammation can cause issues like what you describe. Do mention it to your doctor if it is severe though. That type of pain could be caused by any number of things. Celiac can of course cause osteoporosis...
