ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing For Casein, Eggs, Soy, Yeast
ravenwoodglass replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I emailed them also so hopefully they will get to me soon. By the by I did find the gluten free pantries corn bread mix and I will try it tonight. Hopefully I will hear from them by then as it does require milk but I thought I would try to substitute with either soy milk or applesauce if I don't need to add dairy back in. -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing For Casein, Eggs, Soy, Yeast
ravenwoodglass posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Do I need to be consuming these for those tests to be accurate? I have had some problems that are clearly not gluten related, no neuro signs etc., since I had diverticulitis and a bad med reaction. I want to make sure that has not left me with problems other than gluten, or that some of the residual damage might be resolvable if a casien intolerance is... -
ARCHIVED Inahbisihagaosk

LOL sounds good, especially with my history. I do not know of any specific doctors but as someone who was blood negative and severely damaged for years I sure can identify with that groups name. You may want to see if you can find a good allergist who can guide you through an elimination diet and offically record the results. That was how I was finally... -
ARCHIVED Fyi: Bob's Red Mill
ravenwoodglass replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'll have to see if my local health food store will order that for me, I use quite a few of their products that they carry but haven't seen this one. My son told me about Kinnikinick premade pizza shells and they had them in the next week. Those by the way are excellent, expensive but very good buttery tasting and flaky. I tried one toasted in oven then... -
ARCHIVED Fyi: Bob's Red Mill
ravenwoodglass replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks so much for this info. I have avoided their products because of fear of CC, even the ones labeled gluten-free. I learned my lesson well from Frito Lay It is nice to know that I can try some of their stuff safely. I will admit I should (could) have called but I have so many things that I have bought then donated after a phone call that I never... -
ARCHIVED What Do Doctors Know?

Hi Lister, If this does not resolve soon you should see your doctor, much as I know you don't want to. Do you have any fever? That would be an indication to call the doctor today. As to the green bowel movements the coloring from the slurpy could very well contribute to that, licorice will also turn the stool green but if you are still gluten-free that...

ravenwoodglass replied to Elcamino's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think the most important thing that I have to add is that relying on blood work for celiac confiramtion almost killed me. I was tested over and over and over, along with tests for lots of other things. An average blood draw for me at the 'best' hospital in my area (it is well know nationally) was 20 tubes and still left me in the dark and dying. It was... -
ARCHIVED Made In Facility That Manufactures Wheat Products?
ravenwoodglass replied to amberleigh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to ignore the CYA statements, but I got tired of playing roulette with my health. I avoid them now as I got tired of searching out 'what got me' and don't like it when I can eat a product once or twice and be fine and then eat it again and be sick as a dog. I feel CYA statements are there for a reason, if the item was for sure always going to be... -
ARCHIVED Tyson Frozen Chicken With "broth"
ravenwoodglass replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Chicken Broth will often contain barley malt as a flavoring and this does not need to be disclosed on the label. The best way to be sure would be to contact the company and ask. They do not seem to have any info on line about it so a phone call or email would be needed. For safety and convience I only go with natural organic chicken with nothing added... -
ARCHIVED Muscle/joint Pain After Possibly Being Glutenated
ravenwoodglass replied to Mountaineer Josh's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yea for the first couple years gluten-free I would have severe pain when glutened. It would be one of the first signs in addition to my neuro stuff that would flare within hours of injestion. 5 years into the diet now and this is very rare. Even with a good glutening all the other stuff will appear but the joint pain is now just like a quick shock, there... -
ARCHIVED Acupuncture For celiac disease
ravenwoodglass replied to geeze's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Before I knew I was celiac I saw an acupuncturist for a a few months. While the relief I got was short lived, I was not gluten-free yet, it was remarkable. The thing I found most astounding was that when I would walk in I would be covered in purple splotches, livido reticularis, as he was doing the treatments the splotches would fade and after I left the... -
ARCHIVED What Side Effects Can I Get Coming Off Gluten?
ravenwoodglass replied to Luke987's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For many there is a bit of a withdrawl when they first go gluten free, this is a good thing it is showing you that you really need to be on the diet. We do not have withdrawl from things that are not poisoning us. The symptoms can vary, for me it was mostly depression and moodiness but I was so sick from everything that if I had a migraine, muscle pain... -
ARCHIVED Chicken/vegetable Broth And Natural Flavoring?
ravenwoodglass replied to amberleigh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use only Herb-Ox. They are labeled gluten and MSG free and come in powders or cubes. Barley Malt is commonly used in a lot of 'natural' flavors and I would always call the company if I am in doubt about the gluten statis of anything. -
ARCHIVED Wedding Vent
ravenwoodglass replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I would let my Mom know so she won't be surprised and burst out laughing but other than that I would not worry about it. If she is dressed up like a teenager going to a dance it will just make your Mom look 'classier'. Everyone is going to be concentrating on you anyway and you can always ask the photographer to pose so her 'gown' is less obvious. Congrats... -
Well..... I am the celiac in my house who did not show up on blood work and I am the most damaged and the first one diagnosed, it only took 40 years with the last 15 being very sick. LOL After blood testing we discovered that both kids and DH were positive. One of the reasons he agreed to test was because since the kids show up on blood tests and he is...

ARCHIVED Danon And Their Cya Statement
ravenwoodglass replied to NewGFMom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I go with yoplait also, they have even started to use a gluten-free label. One word of caution though now that they have begun the gluten-free labeling their cherry vanilla does not carry the gluten-free label, it was one my DS ate constantly. He also had been having a great deal of problems with CC for about 6 months or so, not just due to cherry yogurt... -
ARCHIVED Couple Foods In Question
ravenwoodglass replied to Lizking531's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If the Nestle CoffeMate is gluten free it should say so somewhere on the package. I use the liquid creamers they make and those say gluten free on the label. If that one doesn't I would call to double check just to be on the safe side. Brand name tylenol is gluten-free, generics are risky and you need to call the company to be sure, have the bottle in... -
ARCHIVED How Would You Describe The Fatigue?
ravenwoodglass replied to Luke987's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Grey your description was so much like what I had, and what I get when glutened that all I really need to add is "me too". I am also a neuro predominent celiac, by that I mean that the neuro symptoms were present for over 25 years before before severe gut stuff set in. That was a lot of years of walking into walls and falling over my own feet. I was... -
ARCHIVED Can Anyone Help Me Get Off Inexium?
ravenwoodglass replied to Rosey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Rosey I am glad there was some useful info for you. I hope it helps. One last note, you may want to double check the organic vinager you refer to and make certain it was gluten-free. I also have heard really good things about the Braggs liquid, we have a number of stores that sell it around here, but be really careful to check pills that are cider... -
Yes, when I get glutened. I get what the doctor called migraines without the pain also which increases my light sensitivity and sometimes makes for some interesting fireworks. There are other things that can cause vision problems like yours also, diabetes for one so if it continues for more than a short time get it checked out.
-
Yes that test was positive. You do not have to have daily D to have celiac and with your fatigue, brain fog etc if I were you I would do the diet strictly for at least a couple of months. Then if you still have doubt do a short, until you react gluten challenge.

ARCHIVED Can Anyone Help Me Get Off Inexium?
ravenwoodglass replied to Rosey's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Rosey and welcome. I sure can sympathize with the choking. Prediagnosis this happened to me a lot but in my case it was most likely nerve damage and has resolved. It is a very scary thing though and as I now live alone I still cut up my food in very tiny bits even though it hasn't happened since about a year gluten free. I can not answer with certainty... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Bob's Red Mill Flour
ravenwoodglass replied to JennyC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Have you checked with any of the food banks in your area? I know mine is always overjoyed when I bring specialty gluten free stuff that I haven't liked or can't eat. I don't know if they would take the opened bag of flour but they might take it and repackage it for others. -
ARCHIVED Effects Of Hidden Gluten?
ravenwoodglass replied to ElenaDragon's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One last thing, are you consuming dairy products? The villi that are damaged by gluten are also the mechanism that aids us in digesting dairy. It is reccommended that we at first cut out dairy as well, hard I know, but it may make a real difference for now. After a couple months gluten-free and after your tummy calms down you can add it back in and see...
