  1. I'm not sure if it is the fermentation and yeast that you have to worry about with Celiac (unless that is a different food problem you may have). Regular beer contains gluten because of the ingredients (usually barley and wheat, I think) but the gluten-free beer is made of sorghum instead so there's no gluten. Redbridge is quite good, it reminds me of Sam...
  2. My 4 year old is extremely sensitive but plays with stickers all the time without having a problem. Are stickers made with gluten? Eeek!
  3. I bought a huge tub of gluten-free play doh for my daughter's preschool class. Here's one site: Open Original Shared Link (but it has a strong odor) and here's another site: Open Original Shared Link (but it is crumbly) And I read through and printed a bunch of stuff from this site for my daughter's school: Open Original Shared Link And our school...
  4. Yeah for feeling better! We've had some pretty funny milestones too ~ this kind of thing is so worth celebrating!
  5. My 18 m/o still wakes to nurse.
  6. I'm breastfeeding and have celiac. It is so important to stay hydrated. Are you drinking a ton of water? If I don't have 8-10 glasses of water a day (plus one for every cup of coffee) I feel all headachey, tired, and dizzy. It is also really important to eat a lot; 500 extra calories a day (that's more than pregnancy!). I really believe that breastfeeding...
  7. I love the Burts Bees ones. And best of all, they're affordable!
  8. I don't know the official answer but we believe it was a symptom for our daughter. Shortly after the introduction of solids, we started referring to her as "the baby who doesn't sleep." It is hard to sleep with an upset stomach. Maybe try cutting out the gluten for a bit to see how she does?
  9. I can see why you're upset! Why do people insist on giving kids food rewards?! Can you provide the teacher with some safe treats to hand out along with some info about celiac? Is there also someone higher up that can talk to her?

If they don't, I can highly recommend the gluten-free Singapore Street Noodles. My daughters love them!
  11. Awwww, bless her heart! Why can't schools stick with fruit for treats?! It would be a lot easier if they would!
  12. Your responses are keeping the panic at bay, thank you! I think we'll go and skip eating (she'll understand and I'll stay to supervise). I might give her a complex with all the hand washing I'm going to insist on though!
  13. My 4 year old just was invited to a Chuck E Cheese birthday party for one of her preschool friends. The idea is almost giving me an anxiety attack! What would you do?
  14. Have you looked at the EnviroKids cereals? That's what we usually get but it may be too sugary. We're lucky that there are quite a few supermarkets near us that have pretty good g.f. sections (Kroger, Holiday Market, Whole Foods). Even Costco has a few things.
  15. I've read the research about breastfeeding and celiac disease and it seems like breastfeeding is one of the few things you can do to help. I breastfed my daughter until she was 15 months and (looking back at her medical records) that is about the same time we started bringing up concerns with her health that are all symptoms of celiac disease. The research...
  16. We brought our daughter in for testing because of physical symptoms but we can't believe the behavioral changes since going gluten-free. She used to be so irritable, sensitive, very fussy and picky, weepy, and obsessive. We don't see those behaviors at all anymore. She only has Celiac Disease, no other intolerances or allergies.
  17. I don't enjoy eating or cooking anymore at all. Trying to find something all my family will eat that is safe for my daughter and me, and that is vegetarian is too much of a challenge. I miss eating out, I miss take-out, and I miss garlic bread.
  18. -Bread (frozen) -- kinnikinnick sandwich bread - -Cake Mix -- Pamela's Chocolate Cake mix -Cookies (prepared or mix) -- K toos sandwich cookies (like Oreos) - -Pizza/Pizza Crust -- Amy's frozen rice crust pizza -Pretzels -- Glutino -Crackers -- Glutino - -Cereal -- Fruity Pebbles -Bagels -- kinnikinnick -Pastries -- kinnikinnick donuts and...
  19. As far as I know, positive is a positive and means she needs to stay strictly away from gluten. You're doing the right thing by sticking with the diet. Even with 12 samples, there is just so much that can be missed. I know it is hard but it is so worth it. I cannot believe the change in my daughter.
  20. As for testing, I'm glad we have a formal diagnosis for my daughter. It makes the school and family more cooperative and this way I don't have to wonder if it was something else. And my daughter did have an increase in appetite, starting about a week into the diet. I think she just felt better; who wants to eat when they feel yucky! We've been gluten...
  21. If you can find a good gluten-free pie crust or recipe (I like the one from Whole Foods), it is easy to make quiches. For that many people, I'd make 4. Serve it with a nice fruit salad and a green salad and maybe some breakfast mea.
  22. I was going to suggest cutting out dairy then I realized you're vegan so that doesn't help! I wonder if you need to go back to the doctor for allergy testing to see if you're allergic to any of the foods you're eating. I ditto the suggestion to check out the Vegiac site. I'm a vegetarian with celiac and it gets hard to think of what to eat sometimes...
  23. We've been using out toaster oven with no CC (daughter is very sensitive so I'd know!). I cleaned it really well and put aluminum foil down (and I slice slits in the foil so the bottom gets toasty too).
  24. I'm having a hard time trusting other people to prepare food for my daughter, even when they're making a conscious effort to make something gluten-free. Even if I trust their label reading, I don't know how gluten-free their kitchen is, so I worry about CC. Does anyone else worry about this? Is it something I just need to get over? How do you handle...
  25. Hi! I don't have to pack lunches yet, but for snacks at my daughter's preschool I send in a bunch of stuff in a "snack sack" with a long shelf life and they just let me know when it needs to be replenished. We send Glutino Pretzels, EnviroKids Koala cereal bars, Raisins, Midel Animal Crackers, and M&Ms (as a treat when the others get cupcakes or something...
