  1. Oh my! How sweet is that?! Oh and I love your daughter's name!
  2. How great is that! Isn't it a good feeling when someone goes out of their way!
  3. I didn't know I had Celiac Disease until I went gluten-free with my daughter. Suddenly a lifetime of tummy and health issues have an explanation.
  4. I'm sorry. I would be frustrated too. You put a lot of effort into making sure your daughter wouldn't be left out but she was anyway. The way I've had to look at it is that my daughter is going to grow up eating differently than everyone around her so she's going to have to get used to having a substitute treat. I bet a lot of kids thought your...
  5. My daughters (7 and 4) really like the book Eating Gluten-free With Emily. Our favorite brands of kid friendly gluten-free stuff: pancake mix- pamela's cupcake mix- pamela's cereal- Dora Stars bread, bagels, and donuts- kinnikinnick (bread must be toasted) cookies- ktoos (just like oreos) pretzels and crackers- glutino Some of the gluten-free stuff...
  6. I'm very disappointed. I have to say that I think she's making a mistake. There are already so many good pet magazines out there (I subscribe to one that is very much in the Martha Stewart style already!). And it could only help her to have the gluten-free group hooked on her label. It seems like we're all very brand-loyal!
  7. Open Original Shared Link hmmm, that didn't work. I was trying to give you the Gluten-free Candy List from ROCK. Maybe this will work? Open Original Shared Link
  8. They're 3 and 6. And the windchill has been in the single digits for the last few weeks.
  9. Ditto the Redbridge recommendation. I'm drinking one right now and it is pretty good. It reminds me of Sam Addams.
  10. It is a bit softer and a bit grittier but really functions just like playdoh! The girls even used some of our playdoh accessories (I couldn't bring myself to toss them so I just scrubbed them really well) with the new stuff and it worked great.
  11. I just got my order and the girls love it! It isn't at all crumbly and it is nice and soft. But the smell is STRONG and my daughters' hands are turning a bit pink (we got the hot pink bubble gum one). It is a hit and we'll be ordering a whole set for their Easter baskets. Be careful though, it smells so yummy the girls wanted to eat it at first.
  12. We didn't do the biopsy so I'm not sure what any of that stuff means. But I just wanted to give you (((hugs))) for surviving that and to say I'm glad she's doing well! Have you considered making your house gluten-free or how you're going to prevent cross contamination (if the house isn't gluten-free?)? And you really do have to be insanely careful...
  13. Ditto the Pamela's Mix. Everyone I've made it for has raved over it.
  14. Thank you all for your help! This is some great info to look through! This is my daughter's first year of preschool and I'm already getting really frustrated with how gluteny school is.
  15. My daughter wanted a rockstar party for her third birthday. For favors, we bought everyone little maracas and drumsticks. We found lots of cute decorations at Party City: guitars, records, stars, etc. The website marsbrightideas.com has some cute ideas for a rockstar party. We have a Fisher Price Karaoke machine that hooks up to the TV so they can watch...
  16. I think I remember reading that some people on here homeschool their kids. I'm looking for some GOOD online resources to look into doing this. I would love some recommendations; where do I start researching homeschooling?
  17. That's too bad! Sorry! I only had to worry about lactose.
  18. I've had almond cheese that was pretty good but I'm not sure if it was soy free or not.
  19. I was dairy-free for years (I didn't know I had Celiac Disease, I thought I was lactose intolerant). It isn't as hard as it seems once you get into it. Instead of lactaid, could you try soy milk? It really isn't that bad. I like the Silk plain (red box) but my girls really liked the Silk Vanilla (it is kind of sweet). You can cook with the soy milk...
  20. We can't find any Yoplaits that say "gluten-free" on them anymore. My daughter is not happy. Anyone eating them anyway? What other yogurts are safe?
  21. Cool! I just ordered one to see if we like it. We've tried the other stuff and it is sooo crumbly.
  22. I have this same symptom after getting glutened. I stick with foods that sound appetizing (usually salads, fruit, and water) until I feel better. Hope you feel better soon! I wonder if dramamine would help? Is that gluten-free? I've also heard that B6 vitamin supplements can help.
  23. Families are hard. Mine won't even be tested even though many of them have very classic symptoms. Sorry you're going through this. It is so hard having loved ones who think you're crazy and paranoid when you're just trying to be helpful.
  24. Hannah Montana just had one of the characters mention something about toasting gluten-free marshmallows. I wasn't paying attention at all to the show (bad mom!) but I'm certain it was just a remark in passing.
  25. I'm not sure if breastfeeding my daughter helped or not (not sure how to figure that one out!). But I do know that the point when she started getting worse was after we weaned (weaned at 15 months and 18 months was the first pediatrician appointment that I voiced concerns about her health). So far, the articles I've read have convinced me to breastfeed...
