  1. I don't know any in walking distance but many around Atlanta. Check out these two sites. Support group: Open Original Shared Link Dinner group: Open Original Shared Link
  2. I bought this, too. I want more doughnut-y puffs though. Can you tell me what you did more exactly? Thanks!
  3. I LOVE this website and it helped me lose 21 +/- pounds over a few months.
  4. I have read about possible sickness from breathing in gluten but not just by being near it and smelling it.
  5. When I was 17 my doctor told me to go gluten-free after my blood test and I never saw anyone else. My Brother, however, continued eating gluten and saw a specialist to get another postive. So, it is really up to you and him. The diet worked fine for me right away, so, I didn't want to go back on it for another test. It's a personal thing.
  6. If it doesn't say it's gluten-free then call the company. Cross contamination is serious.
  7. If I were there, I'd rather call Risotteria and have them deliver a gluten-free pizza or pasta and breadsticks to the station! Have fun in New York- it is one of the best cities.
  8. My Mom had terrible migraines from gluten including some hurting her face like that also numbness and just very odd things.
  9. I made this (vegan) today in the oven and it came out great!
  10. My Mother had both of us before her diagnosis and we were born "healthy" but were sick when we digested gluten- my borther worse than me.
  11. My Mom loves stuffing and makes it often-ish from a recipe she used to use before gluten-free. She uses Kinnikinnick sandwhich bread. 3 tablespoons of onion. 1 1/2 cups celery. Cook in butter on the stove. After they are cooked add salt, pepper, 1/2 teaspoon each of poultry seasoning and ground sage, and then enough water or chicken broth in order to...
  12. I am so glad you had a good time, AmberLeigh.
  13. I had a fabulous time in Spain (I was there 5 weeks and came back a few days ago). There are many restaurants with gluten-free menus, lots of pizza places, and restaurants with two kitchens- one for Celiacs and one for not. More people seemed to be aware of what Celiacs was. Also, there was so much yummie gluten-free food to buy! I ate so well! I am...
  14. That sounds great!
  15. I felt very sad too but you get used to this new lifestyle. I liked talking to a therapist because I couldn't handle the new life change and that helped a lot. Some non-Catholic churches will let you take the gluten-free communion waffers. It does get better, I promise.
  16. Man, that sucks. I wish she would think more about your needs and about it being a nice party for you and your baby. I wonder how she will react if your kid has Celiacs, too. I guess it's just another time when we have to just forget about being treated that was and enjoy the friends/family who can make it and the gifts for the baby. Good luck and I hope...
  17. Well, I think Chicken Pox is one of those things you can catch easily regardless of wether you have Celiacs or not. It spreads like a wildfire. Good luck taking care of sick kiddies!
  18. Until yesterday, I had spent the last 5 weeks living and studying in Madrid, Spain. There were 80 or so of us from Georgia. I took 2 weekend trip- Lisbon, Portugal, and Barcelona-and a few day trips. I stayed at a Colegio in the city and M-Th had lunch and dinner there and breakfast everyday. After the first week I was lucky enough that the women/men...
  19. What a great post, Karin! Thank you for sharing. The U.K. has some really delicious gluten-free products!
  20. That s pretty cool but can you only order them on-line?
  21. Hmm, that is interesting, CaraLouise.
  22. I don't think there can be definite percentages since it is so hard to diagnose people in the first place. My Mother has Celiacs, I have it, and my Brother does, as well. We are her only children.
  23. I don't have any advice but I am sorry.
