  4. Hi Kitty, Several members (or more) have had their gall bladders removed. Seems to me like gall bladder issues are one of the side affects for some celiacs who aren't gluten-free yet.   9. That's good news on the liver enzymes going down. But your doc is a little out of touch. Elevated liver enzymes are fairly common with celiac disease from my understanding. And they tend to return to normal after starting the gluten-free diet.

It's surprising to me how many of their subjects complained the gluten-free diet wasn't working for them, but in reality they weren't following it!
