    ARCHIVED I'm Hot

I get hot after eating. Takes me an hour or so to cool down. It doesn't matter if it is hot food or cool food either. Although hot food makes it worse. I don't do well with heat anymore. I get pretty out of it and tired and sweat a lot. I always did "run hot" compared to my other family members though. Used to wear a t-shirt in the winter sometimes...
  2. Some of the Chex cereals have soy in them also. So that is another thing to consider eliminating. Soy that is.
  3. I gots a little trick for the natural peanut butters. Most of the natural peanut butters I have seen will separate some after a while. The oil floats up to the top of the jar. You can fix that by adding a little molasses and stirring it in. The oil won't separate after this but it does make the peanut butter pretty stiff.
  4. So gluten-free since Jan-2010 and still sick? You are probably right about another food intolerance then, or you are still getting some gluten somehow. Did you eliminate vitamin pills on your elimination diet? For the soda if you can't just stop it, maybe try tapering off over a week or two. That will give your brain a chance to adjust and lessen the...
  5. I am going to agree with everyone who said to make your own food. Only eat what you make yourself. Why trust someone who doesn't get it?
  6. These threads might have some brekky ideas too. Help With Breakfast Ideas eating Quick Breakfast Ideas? Dairy-free Breakfast Ideas? need hints! Need Breakfast Ideas -- Gfcfsf Breakfast Ideas
  7. Your genetic test won't tell you if you have celiac or not. Blood antibodies or an endoscopy are used for celiac diagnosis, plus diet response. Lots of people have genes for celiac but don't have the disease.
  8. My joint pain is mostly gone now that I got off soy. It took a quite while off soy for the pain to go away, but it is much better now.
  9. Well, there are also all the associated conditions, or related conditions that celiac people tend to get more often. Other autoimmune disease that we get more often than other people. Those aren't exactly fun things. Like RA, diabetes, Hashimoto's thyroiditis, etc etc etc... Just try searching on "celiac associated condition" or "celiac related condition...
  10. You can try eliminating tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers and see if that helps. They are all nightshades. I can eat sweet potatoes ok, but nay regular potatoes are a problem. Have you tried eliminating soy yet?
  11. Welcome to the forum Algegra! If you get your test results from the doctor and post them here, there are some smart people around who can help interpret them for you. The tests are not perfect by any means, and sometimes the docs don't even do all the tests they should. Guess the docs aren't perfect either! Anyway, hang around and ask questions. There...
  12. You could also try some Solgar gluten-free vitamins. You may be low on some vitamins, which could make you hungry, Especially when your body may be in a big healing mode now. I suggest looking for vitamins with only a few ingredients, not the multi-vitamins. And make sure you don't get any with dairy, soy, or oat or wheat grass juice. The multi-vitamins...
  13. Watch out for the furry flying kittens then. Oops, wrong disease! A whole foods diet is a good way to go. Some people are low on some vitamins at first, so you could check with your doctor on blood tests for vitamin levels. Avoiding gluten-free baked goods to start can be helpful, at least until you get used to the diet for a few months. You also...
  14. Make sure to as the GI if they are familiar with celiac also. Some of them are not. If you can find a local branch for a celaic support group you could ask them for doctor recommendations. The CSA (celiac sprue association) or GIG (gluten intolerance group) There is a forum on here with doctor info to check also.
  15. Good to hear you are having some success! I read a thing on Wiki about florescent lights and sleep disorders the other day. They suggest some colors off florescent lights are bad for sleep. I read something about brown sunglasses for filtering out the non-sleepy light colors also. Got to get me some melatonin too, I ran out quite a while ago.
  16. You could try some melatonin at night also.
  17. 3rd the reply. Also, get a new GP who is more up to date with modern medical knowledge. Hopefully find one who has some knowledge of celiac disease.
  18. Hmmm, freezing could help I guess. But it is still not getting rid of the yuck factor. Ya all can keep your sushi and those other raw meats, steak tartar etc.. (I know not all sushi is raw fish ). Rice and veggies are a-OK. Soy almost always has gluten, unless you buy Tamari gluten-free soy sauce. But why eat soy anyway. Another yuck factor food...
  19. Well, definitely ask them if they are aware of celiac disease, ans can use gluten free products on you. some dentists have you take anti-biotics nowadays before a cleaning or filling. So need to verify those are gluten-free also if the prescribe them. Asking people you know what a good dentist is would be a good bet to find one. Or if you have insurance...
  20. Most soy sauce has wheat as an ingredient, just check the labels. There are some wheat free brands though. I don't eat soy at all. At least not intentionally.
  21. I saw a medical program recently where a woman and her husband ate some sushi in Africa. They both ended up with worms crawling around under their skin. Personally I don't understand why people think eating raw meat is ok. Of course, animals do it but they get sick from all kinds of parasites too.
  22. I'd eliminate nightshades at some point also, at least for a trial of month or so. Sweet potatoes would be better than regular potatoes. I can eat sweet potatoes ok but not white potatoes. Tomatoes, and peppers are also nightshades to watch out for.
  23. Nightshades, tomatoes, potato, peppers, carrots, turnips, soy, dairy, oats, garbanzo beans, fruits, all the top 8 food allergens, celery, corn.
  24. I agree, drop the cereal and rice cakes for a month. See if there is any improvement. Then try eliminating nightshades, potatoes, peppers, tomatoes. Try it for a month and see if it helps.
  25. You can always eliminate on a trial basis. If you take it out for a month and don't fell any better, then maybe it isn't a problem for you. Since you are still having symptoms, it makes sense to start somewhere in your troubleshooting. Dairy is as good place to start as any, although soy would be tie IMHO. Really, eliminating soy is a good move for anyone...
