  1. Welcome to our wonderful celiac club Kesken88! We have a rather steep initiation rite of changing everything you are used to eating for something different and healthier. We also expect newbies to become more aware of their bodies and how they react than the average bear. As you grow in the club you may learn things about your body that you didn't want...
  2. I'd say get rid of the soy and dairy also. And the processed foods, cereals etc. At least for a few weeks. You can get calcium from veggies also. Wait until you feel better then add things one at a time.
  3. If you can stay completely gluten free for 2 or 3 months, and then do a test by eating gluten for a week, you will most likely know your answer. This kind of challenge test is good for people with digestion symptoms, but may not help for people who don't have digestion symptoms. There are some people who have no digestion symptoms at all, but still have...
  4. gluten-free has changed my head for the better in some ways. I used to get obsessed with thots and not be able to get re-focused on something different. Used to feel poorly and be depressed a lot. Used to get angry over minor things at times. Used to forget what I was doing and have to recheck everything I did a couple / three times to make sure I had...
  5. I don't do bulk bins anymore. Been burned a couple times by them so I am not taking the chance again.
  6. If you want to pursue testing you need to stay on gluten until the blood is drawn. Don't start the gluten-free now as it can throw the test results off if you do. When you get to doing the diet, stick with all home cooked meals with whole foods ingredients. No spice mixes but single ingredients spices are ok. No sauces or marinades etc. All your food...
  7. I don't think it will be any problem either. I have taken digestive enzymes with lactase without eating nay dairy, and it didn't bother me.
  8. I am no expert on kids, but I do think that a quick response to removing gluten means something is happening. If you want to have him tested for celiac though, then he needs to keep eating gluten until the blood is drawn. Just be aware that testing for celiac is not 100% accurate, and they say it is even less accurate in young children.
  9. I don't eat out much either. Once in a while I will get a salad somewhere. and get olive oil and vinegar dressing. But 99% of the time I eat home cooking. Although now that it's hot those Luigi's Italian Ices are going down pretty good. I felt pretty rough the first 2 years on the gluten-free diet. It wasn't until I totally eliminated soy that I...
  10. I am just guessing, but it sounds like you took some chances eating out a lot and now you are having some symptoms. Maybe they will clear up after a while if you can keep strictly on the diet. Or you may find that you are reacting to another food besides gluten. It is not unusual for us to have or develop other food sensitivities and they can have serious...

    ARCHIVED A Little Vent

Tough times all over lately. I hope you find something you like soon.
  12. You might find that you feel more even and energetic if you stay strictly off the soy and dairy. Especially the soy. I think Hershey's cocoa powder is ok, although I haven't really researched it. That would let you make your own chocolate treats it if were. You could also try guacamole, just make sure to use a soy free mayo. Hellman's canola oil cholesterol...
  13. Hey Connie, You can do a search on gluten and schizophrenia and find some info on that connection. not saying you have that of course, but there is a link to some mental conditions. Also, they say that gluten can affect the brain like an opiate. So that's another possible link to the symptoms. The gluten withdrawal affect some people experience could...
  14. You cab also try adding some psyillium husks and or ground flax seed meal to your rice or other foods.
  15. Hmmm, what chocolate are eating that is dairy and soy free? Someone mentioned Glutino pretzels, which are a no no due to soy also. Wylde pretzels are soy free. Can you do rice and veggies? Maybe some chicken or beef thrown in? Quinoa is another option instead of rice.
  16. Luigi's Italian ice cups are gFcFsF also. They sell them in freezer sections of the grocery store in boxes of 6. If you eat a few bites and make a little room on top, then you can pour a tablespoon of absinthe on it and they are not bad at all. There are other brand but the Luigi's are the best tasting that I have tried.
  17. Hi, The biopsy is used to determine active celiac disease. It doesn't reveal anything about possible future celiac disease. So, no you can't use a clean biopsy to predict if celiac will return or not. Why not stick with the gluten free diet for a while? It is a very healthy diet if you eat whole foods instead of the processed gluten-free foods. ...
  18. Agree, soy and dairy can cause problems. So can nightshades. Don't forget to check any sports drinks, vitamins, meds or whatnot that you consume.
  19. It would be a good idea to really simplify your diet. Whole foods cooked from scratch at home, limited spices, like salt and pepper. Take a dairy and soy free pro-biotic too. The pepperoni and crackers are not a good choice at this point. You need to put simple whole foods in your body and give it a chance to rest and recover. Remember also that anything...
  20. Sorry, another random drive-by post.
  21. At least now you know that gluten causes him a problem, regardless of medical testing or doctor opinions. He also knows and that is a good thing as it should help him stick to the diet.
  22. 1 Another thing to watch out for is additional food intolerances. Many of us have them and it can take a while to figure them out. An elimination diet is a good tool for that effort. 2 Processed foods in general are risky and should be carefully checked.
  23. I was looking at some baked lays recently but they list 3 different oils they might contain, one of which is soy. So I can't eat them. But, just mentioning it since you should consider you might be reacting to something besides gluten, like soy.
  24. I tried Kinickkinick gluten-free bread recently and like it. It is soy free unlike a lot of others (Udi's etc). I used to like Glutino fiber bread but they say on the label may contain traces of soy. So not doing that now. There is a thread on microwave bread or buns that you can search on started by Lonewolf. If you just want a quick bun it is easy...
  25. I ate fried chicken for breakfast. Then for lunch I fried a bunch of portabello mushroom chunks with an onion and 3 eggs. Ate it on toasted Kinickinick bread (unusual to have) with mayo. Still full from that so won't eat anything else. Forgot, also ate some Altoids peppermints
