  1. Poison oak, no -- we don't have none of that hereabouts (big reason for leaving CA - for both of us; couldn't handle the prednisone any more ). And I wouldn't know what hemlock looks like, come to thinkofit. But I don't think we have that either - that is SO old world
  2. Soy overall, probably not; soy lecithin, maybe. I can do it now. But that's after four years or so.
  3. Underneath my kitchen windows I have a big bricked in planter with my herb garden contained therein. (I know, it's from my days of legal writing ) In that herb garden grow most of my herbs except parsley and cilantro. This includes rosemary, sage, and an enormous forest of dill waving its tall yellow flowers at me through the windows, blocking my view...
  4. Looks like it is free, too!!!
  5. Aye, there's the rub! Do you have a community clinic or some such thing that provides services on a sliding scale?
  6. I do not have a tooth in my head that is not filled, all my molars are crowned, one tooth just crumbled so there is an implant there. I had gum surgery in my 30's (of course, that was after I quit smoking and my gums suddenly started bleeding all over the place ). Yes, you are not alone.
  7. Perhaps there was wheatgrass or barley grass in your Odwalla? Most people do not react, but some do.
  8. I would never admit it either. But think I did in the end
  9. We are well used to cat (and dog) disappearances and reappearances. The earthquakes sent a lot of them over the edge. Our neighbors' house was unlivable and they moved the family to Oz for a while. They found the dog (and the child ) but not the cat (this was a couple of weeks later) so had to leave Minnie behind. About four weeks later she showed up...
  10. What a neat retreat, Bunnie!!!
  11. Just so we are clear on this, I am not thrilled with the accuracy of either kind of testing. And I have not had either blood testing or biopsy. So I cannot claim to be celiac. Of course, no one can prove that I am not celiac either. And I believe there are other genes besides DQ2 and DQ8 associated with a celiac diagnosis. I know this is heresy or apostasy...
  12. No, no, not to worry. It's just that we are so used to people screwing up their test results by failing to keep eating gluten and affecting the outcome, turning positives into negatives; I'm not glad there was still damage, but I am glad there was enough to measure and give you the definitive result. People have varying degrees of damage and rates of...
  13. Whose dolphins are you going to swim with, IH? The Hawaiians? The Kiwis? Obviously there must be some warm water involved somewhere?
  14. Are we determining that a person has celiac disease by the biopsy when we are talking about false negative blood tests? Because we know that the biopsies can be falsely negative too, depending on the skill of the person performing the endoscopy and a certain degree of luck. A person can test negative on both blood and biopsy and still have celiac disease...
  15. I am surprised there is still this much damage after three months of gluten free eating. 1. Scalloped duodenum - definite sign of celiac disease 2. Inflammatory cell infiltrate in lamina propria - sign of early celiac disease although can be caused by other conditions 3. Crowding of enterocytes and increase in intraepithelial lymphocytes - a sign...
  16. Yes, at first as a celiac the odds are you will be lactose intolerant until you heal, but after that you should be fine. I was lactose intolerant for years before gluten free. Didn't know anything about anything in those days. Didn't even realize you have to be your own doctor I learned bad habits in USA because they don't like that here in New Zealand...
  17. I'm glad it was magical, Addy. Bring on the pics!
  18. Happy birthday! Kiss a a giraffe for me!
  19. Your tTG IgG (on both occasions) was the only test that was NOT positive. The IgG is normally only the alternative test, run only when you do not produce normal quantities of IgA, which is the main anti-gliadin antibody. Your IgA test results are clearly positive, and even the IgG on the deamidated gliadin peptide was positive on both occasions. I'm not...
  20. Sorry, I can't be reached by flattery. And besides, you've not seen me around electronics. Everything I touch turns to poop Oh well, guess that does make me qualified for the job But I still decline, even with chamois leather gloves.
  21. Well exactly! For what else, pray tell?
  22. Well, wait a minute here!! I refuse to be in charge of everyone else's poop
  23. Spit - Katy Perry (not so far back )
