  1. What you are finding is that when it comes to celiac, the doctors do not know everything. You are lucky you have one who was at least able to give the diagnosis and follow the children. Actually, the expansion of awareness amongst doctors in the last five years has been quite remarkable. But there is still a ways to go. The fact that she expects them to...
  2. Besides, we all start slowly dying from the day we are born
  3. I have carried ice packs to keep medications (injectibles) refrigerated. They run their explosives strips over them. Just tell them you have them so they don't think you're trying to sneak them on. And make sure they're very official looking packs. I've never been through O'Hare, but if it's anything like LAX 90 minutes probably won't give you a lot of...

  5. Well, my ancestors came from where you are, and unfortunately my fellow countrymen are very adept in the art
  6. Hope for you the apres-ski is just as enjoyable as the Ski. Way to go, Lisa!!
  7. On what did he base his diagnosis of Crohn's disease?
  8. What do you mean by "on and off"? If you have not tried it at least 3-6 months, it doesn't count. Most overweight gluten intolerants find that they lose some weight when they go on the gluten-free diet. (As most skinnies find they gain.) It is just a different bodily mechanism. It is never good to eat a bunch of high glycemic foods in general. If...
  9. If I accidentally get some gluten, i.e., in a Rx or such, my reaction is the same as before gluten free. Of course, I recognize it for what it is and am more aware of it, but it is not any different.
  10. Don't get lost in the woods
  11. Hi Northern gal, and welcome. The short answer to your question, is Yes and Yes, both to either celiac or non-celiac gluten intolerance, and to it being the cause of frequent miscarriages; it is highly likely. If you use forum's search engine and enter celiac and miscarriage in the box you will find many discussions on the board on this subject. We...

  13. Congrats on taking a positive step to good health. Getting started on the diet means getting rid of the gluten, obviously. And most people think of going out and replacing their gluten items with gluten free substitutes. Or of doing something radical like a juice, or a cleanse to rid themselves of toxins. But your body will automatically flush out...
  14. This is not a serious question, right?

  16. Back afore Xmas, I found a bread item I hadn't seen before from a bakery whose bread I buy (BakeWorks), described as pull-apart rolls, and they looked good (partially baked, reheat-type thing) so I grabbed some (there was only one package) and then we didn't need them at Christmas. We had them last night with venison stew and O.M.G. -- it was pure heaven...
  17. P PINCH, PUNCH!!!!! FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH YEAR!!!!! (AND NO RETURNS, SO THERE) HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL PSILLIES!!!
  18. I have been caffeine-free since approximately 1972. I drink only herbal/fruit teas. An occasional decaf coffee. Try eliminating the caffeine and see if it helps. Those things you mention, while hard to give up, are not giving you any nutrition anyway But if your daughter feels bad too, you may have gotten some cross-contamination somewhere.
  19. I have no experience with SCD but did want to comment on healing. Your son's initial tTG was 150; you say it is now 95 after one year. You think that is not an improvement? That it does not show some healing? If it were the same or if it had gone up, THEN I would be worried. But his DGP is now negative, showing you both are doing a good job with the...
  20. They have not given you the reference ranges to compare your results against.
  21. Novel therapy seen this summer: hubs in harness (no, psillies, this is not something kinky ) with the physical therapist hanging on the straps trying to rein him in. Like a draught horse pulling a (small) cart loaded with rocks. Now he's in massage therapy for his neck and shoulders
  22. Our dads were alike! Thanks Ginny... onward and upward.
  23. Yep, I kicked 2012's butt last night as he was sneaking out the door. And well he should sneak, preferably with his tail between his legs, for the miserable year he inflicted
