  1. yes- i have had this experience- and i really have no idea what it means... its weird.. i can indulge in a couple of scoops of ice cream- and not feel a thing.. but any kind of drink with milk in it sometimes messes me up... weird
  2. ya, i really am at a loss as to exactly what we should be doing in this Iodine conundrum... the thyroid needs the iodine.. the iodine pisses off the DH.. excess iodine can aggravate Grave's and maybe Hashimoto's... its confusing. all i can offer is my experience.. i had a few DH bumps on my R forearm that went away even before i went gluten free. then...
  3. oh boy..... yes- C is extremely extremely CLASSIC... C was my biggest problem... the D usually came with lactose. and then i went thru phases where it was all malabsorption bms... fatty, floating... lymphatic material.. (SORRY TMI) but ya, C was the most common for me
  4. hey, like the other 2 girls posted- DEFINITELY get your heart checked out with your doctor... you want to cover all your bases- make sure everything is okay with your heart. now.. in addition to that- get your thyroid fully checked. i went thru years of heart palpitations and shortness of breath... i DID get all the heart tests, breathing tests, lung...

    ARCHIVED Perplexed

you didnt change anything else to your diet??? i have digestion problems with excess fructose- so if i eat a pear- i will swell & bloat up and have pain, etc... also, when i finally got dx with hypothyroid- and got on meds- i de-swelled big time
  6. concerning things like the pepperoni (especially when the company enforces a naturally gluten free food as also being "gluten free")-> i would assume- this is an additional food intolerance or a new food allergy- for sure. not cc. but when it comes to grains and starches/gluten free substitutes... and even if they're labeled "gluten free"- they could...
  7. i really really really really really really hope one day i can eat whatever fructose & fructans i want its been almost 8 months for me- and not much has changed in the additional intolerances department. PLUS ive developed new food allergies- like raw carrots anyways, thanks for giving us some hope
  8. forgive me if im repeating myself... but can i come over to your house????? LAMB & SWEET POTATOES???? TURKEY/RICE patties????? YUMMMMMM
  9. you hit it on the nail with "low maintenance"- THAT, and the inconvenience- is what i find difficult.. and the ADDITIONAL food intolerance i have- now has made me cry. taking the gluten out- and STILL having food put me in agonizing pain... i feel for you- and what made all of this much easier for me (than for others including you)- is that ive been dieting...
  10. concerning the pepperoni- i have had strange allergic reactions to my gluten-free turkey pepperoni (AND i have developed food allergies since going gluten free)... with the pepperoni- i am assuming we're reacting to any nitrates OR corn byproducts like caramel color and dextrose... or BHT or something weird. my guess is (at least for me)- is that now-...
  11. yes- the EMA is a more difficult test to do- and the person in the lab has to be very skilled- easy to mess up- but if its positive- it is 100% only specific to celiac. and everyone says (including my gi) to eat at least 4 slices worth of bread a day during gluten challenge. like posted just above- there can be false negatives- so if your body is reacting...
  12. it was my understanding that some types of gasX (like tums) had gluten while others did not... but i could be wrong. cant remember which type of gas x i bought that was safe.. but anyways- gas X kind of helps me- but sometimes i gotta take 3- and sometimes it takes a little while to work... but if im having severe gas pain- its not gonna do much you...
  13. technically yes- it would not be necessary.. but ive also heard of being igg deficient too.. idk. were you eating enough gluten prior to testing??? that would affect the test... my gi only put me on a 2 week challenge- which is not really enough. my antigliadin were solid negative. my ttg were only a weak positive. but my EMA was positive. they...
  14. i think its very possible you are having malabsorption issues- you dont have to be having a lot of pain, or have fatty bms to have the malabsorption- in fact many of your symptoms can be from malabsorption. the tingling in the hands.. the anxiety, etc.. sound like you're developing a B12 deficiency.. which is very common in people with gluten intolerance

GEMINI: thanks for the info! ya, when u look back at my symptoms, i probably went undiagnosed with celiac for over 20 years... maybe longer.. really really frustrating. and let me just tell u- i would MUCH rather just have my hypo symptoms than any hyper symptoms.. i would much rather be tired and depressed than feel like im on meth. apart from the...
  16. my ttg was only an 8 on my 1st test... and after a 2 week gluten challenge- it went down to a 7. weird huh? my antigliadin was negative. but my EMA was positive- and the EMA is only indicative of celiac. as u can see- its a very tricky disease to diagnose.. i would assume if your daughter has it- it's probably a very smart idea for you to go on the diet...
  17. they do, and i dont know what advice to give u- cause really who wants to do that challenge- my gi thought that 2 weeks was enough- but im telling you what- i could NOT have handled more than 2 weeks- my bloating was bearable... but my anxiety was thru the roof- i was a walking panic attack- i was done, could not do it any longer. it's up to you how...

from 1200 to 35 is IMPRESSIVE!! how long did that take??? ya, i presume it's not always possible for everyone to get off or lower meds- but i am hoping for my graves antibodies to die, and my hashi to lower- so i dont have so many conflicting symptoms to deal with. cause sometimes i feel like every single cell in my body is physically bipolar.. and the shortness...

    ARCHIVED Too Hot

hey julie- i am trying to avoid the soy too- as i also just read it specifically aggravates the Grave's antibodies (i have all 3 antibodies..)... and im glad you mentioned that- because it's IN EVERYTHING!!!!! i dont eat regular soy- but it's in every freaking oil & dressing & choco chips even my beloved gluten-free Chipotle bowl... they use soybean...
  20. yes it all fits- all your symptoms are suspicious.. even having a family member with a different autoimmne disease .. many families have a few different AI diseases floating around.. and i never lost weight with celiac either. many of us were overweight and constipated. good luck with your testing and make sure you're eating enough of a gluten challenge...

    ARCHIVED Too Hot

for my whole adult life- ive been oversensitive to heat... easily nauseaus and EXHAUSTED from the heat... i prefer the colder weather- it gives me more energy and makes me happy... the florida summer kills me. that being said- this oversensitivity was somewhat alleviated when i went gluten free- in fact- i dont have to keep my house as cool as i did before...
  22. Ah DAMNNNNNNN why u gotta bring up crab rangoon :( and i LOVE Ramen... i love almost ALL asian food- and all those places are unsafe all those hole in the wall places u see on the food network makes me so sad chinese takeout but i have to say- im so sorry but i have NEVER liked Malt balls ever in my whole entire life!! i told my mom EVERY...
  23. LOL MsCurious- u r so thorough i was about to reply untill u answered your own question. ya, my ttg was really really weak. if it wasnt for my EMA, i would have probably dismissed it all. i honestly dont think my "gluten challenge" was long enough.. especially since the previous 8 years i was mostly wheat free. our bodies are so complicated- and...
  24. is she eating dairy? or a lot of starch and grains? or typical gas forming produce like prunes/pears.. peppers/legumes, ?? im just wondering- of course we're all different- but usually a glutening doesnt last for 2 weeks for me... and i get similar discomfort/bloating from some of the problematic foods above.. hope u figure it out. when im in pain- i...
  25. i had never heard of that yet. i do know tho- that many people with gluten intolerance have horizontal lines over their fingerprints- mostly the thumbs... mine havent really improved and its been about 8 months gluten free (they're supposed to improve). do u have those?
