  1. congratulations! and thankyou for all the tips!
  2. yay for your son sorry your friends bailed- that is just so bizarre- some of the yummiest food in the world is gluten free! im getting ready to dig in to this moist dark chocolate almond flour cake my sis in law made for thanksgiving
  3. ya- i second that- get a complete thyroid panel- and ask for a copy of your result-> a lot of our docs are still using the TSH range that goes up to 4.5, when a group of endocrinologists are now suggesting the normal range should only go up to 3 & getting your vitamin levels checked would be a good idea too! altho i dont know what deficiencies involve...
  4. i dont know your body at all... but i honestly believe that milk can help some people build stronger bones, but i also believe that in others- milk can put their body in an acidic state- making the bones weaker. ???? there's also calcium in canned salmon with the bones (tho, not yummy). i dont really like to eat kale at all- but it tastes just fine juiced...
  5. i love all the Tinkyada BROWN rice pastas! i found the white one too mushy. i cook it to the low number they give on each package (ie: if it says 14-16 min, i cook it for 14 MAX), and also i rinse it under cold water- i totally love it
  6. does she have any additional food intolerances besides gluten??? since ive gone gluten free, not only have i become more sensitive to gluten .. but i am having strong reactions to things i never did before-> ie: i used to eat Turkey Pepperoni from Publix all the time!! and the other day i had an adverse reaction to it- stomach throbbing, and nauseaous...
  7. i had Excema on my foot for 5 years- it itched so bad i would scratch till it bled.. it was horrific. it went away when i took wheat out of my diet a decade ago... not milk. your diet can most definitely affect your skin. i hope you find the answers you want and feel better
  8. who cares if your mother likes this guy- he obviously is not listening to you- if you feel better NOT eating gluten, then you shouldnt... the only reason you should ever be continuing to eat gluten & relying on metamucil is if you're getting ready to do another a Celiac test or biopsy and you want the results to be accurate
  9. ew that EnerG stuff sounds gross.. we used Pamela's cornbread mix & Udi's white bread in my mom's old stuffing recipe.. it was delish
  10. i definitely agree you need to get her to a neurologist! its always good to get everything else checked- even tho gluten can greatly affect the brain and so many other organs besides the intestines- a lot of these symptoms overlap and you dont want to miss a serious diagnosis because you could explain the symptoms away... hope she gets everything checked...
  11. your symptoms are all still so "classic" gluten issues... regardless of any eating disorders. tho- an eating disorder could also trigger an autoimmune disease for sure. i actually was anorexic @ age 14-16ish... interestingly enough that's the same time i was getting tested for lupus... maybe it triggered my celiac?? i dont know what your disorder...
  12. i second mushroom on the lactose intolerance... plus- allergies are different from intolerances... you may not be allergic to casein or soy- but your digestive system may be intolerant of them.. and yes- most of us are in the same boat as u- meaning we have to eliminate other foods in addition to gluten. i, myself, have to avoid high fructose foods...
  13. Lord have mercy lol
  14. so... are you eating gluten free??? 100% ?? it IS possible for a hypothyroid to return to normal on the proper diet- but most of the time- one will need medication.. even tho your TSH has gone down in the past- you really need to see a doc about this- it doesnt matter if your t3 & t4 look normal-> if your TSH is out of whack AND you have symptoms...
  15. 95% sure you dont have a gluten problem my a$$ all your symptoms COULD very well be related to gluten -ABSOLUTELY i think you should find a different doctor... even if you didnt do any more celiac tests & just went with listening to your body's response, you'll probably want a more open minded doctor when you want to request tests for vitamin...
  16. me & my family went to The Melting Pot tonight- and they were very accommadating!! gluten-free menu, gluten-free substitutes and our waitress was more than knowledgable @ cc i think its a good idea to support these companies that are on board with gluten free options..
  17. you're in the right place- there's a lot of members on here with FANTASTIC advice i, like u, felt relief from a lifetime of issues when i went on Atkins. you have to be careful tho- we're all different- i felt fantastic on Atkins, but my friend had to go the ER while on it- with kidney problems. maybe you felt good on it because u eliminated gluten...
  18. what about juicing/blending fruits & veggies that provide nutrients- and putting it into juice form could be easier to digest- maybe blend a 1/2 mango with that banana... or spinach & pineapple... enough to get healthy- but not enough to aggravate "D"... or totally mash up cooked broccoli & peas- mix it with the rice ? also a big tbsp of L...
  19. wheatchef- those are great questions... idk the answers.. im hoping that following the FODMAP could possibly be temporary... cause its very limiting for me.. but the pain is excruciating- even worse than gluten- 1st poster- im not sure what your intolerances are- but ive heard nothing but the best things about fermented foods like fermented soy products...
  20. you could be asymptomatic and still have autoimmune destruction going on in your small intestine... most Celiacs dont have any gut symptoms.. ive had every classic symptom + neurological, mental, and skin symptoms for over 25 years... with ebbs & flows.. but i didnt get DH till i was 38 years old. most of my issues are completely gone... my...
  21. wow, thanks for the info... i dont think ive ever even noticed that there were liquid versions ???? ive only noticed little tabs.. and creams... so, is vodka not safe?? or is it like ok for some, but not for those who are super sensitive? i never used to be so sensitive but the other day i got itchy after eating nut thins at <20ppm... ?
  22. good point skylark- but is it possible that the natural forms dont act the same in the body like the synthetic forms?? i never react to meat or tomatoes... hell, even tho ive got SOME issues with milk- it still doesnt set me off like MSG
  23. enjoy the holidays with your son i want to eat that squash casserole!!!!
  24. that's why i said it would be nice if they could dedicate 2 tables to being ONLY gluten free- so they could do the teppenyaki with gluten-free sauce & no cc. not being able to indulge in this with friends is a HUGE bummer... i loved it so much
