ARCHIVED Dark Circle Around Eyes
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to elisabet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had those rings, too, prior to my celiac diagnosis. I think, it's more an anemic thing than an allergy thing, because a lot of celiacs still have those rings, even without eating gluten anymore. Must be a vitamin deficiency or something. Hugs, Stef -
Hi Stephanie, I already read your other story about this problem. This is really messed up. Another story with a stupid doctor. I hope, that your little one is feeling better soon. This is awefull. Hugs, Stef

I'm glad this turned out good in the end. I would have done the same thing. I mean, you are going to the pool anyway, so what's the point of putting shoes on . However I will be more careful in elevators next time. Of course you loose something. Your sanity! Hugs, Stef -
ARCHIVED How To Teach Family Members About Gluton Intollerance?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Which is kind of weird at the same time. How often did our mom tell us to eat our veggies? How often did we hear "at least 5 fruits and vegetables per day"? When you consider that we know, that healthy eating makes us healthy, it's actually kind of logical to know, that food influences us in a way, that can be bad for us. Or that some people react bad on... -
ARCHIVED Someone Reported Me For Using Toaster Bags
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to floridanative's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I also heard about those toaster bags before. I never found them anywhere though and I'm not buying on eBay anymore. I have my own toaster at home, but my mother in law still puts my bread in the oven. I personally don't like it, because I like my toast a little burnt at the edges. And they never get that way in the oven. I know, I'm weird -

Yes, that's it. Alice Springs Chicken. Hmmmm, and the mustard sauce to that Alice Springs Chicken is glutenfree. Oh, it's sooo good. -
ARCHIVED My Grandson Ethin............
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to darlindeb25's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For me, there is no question. If my baby is there, I will do everything in my power to be able to breastfeed it (I heard, some women can't). Even, if I don't know, if it has or develops celiac. It's my strong believe, that breastfeeding the baby will make it better for the kid in the long run. And I don't believe in any tests, they already did about this... -

ARCHIVED Chocoholics There Is Hope
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Deanne's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think, that all three of them have milk in them. Ritter Sport, Milka, and Kinder Schokolade. I don't know, where you would be able to buy them in the west anyway. I know, in the east, you can buy Ritter Sport at Wegman's Supermarket. At times even the Milka chocolate, it depends on the store, I guess. My mother is flying Kinder Schokolade over in the winter... -

Yes, just my opinion. I don't mind people being curious about something, they haven't seen yet. But, for heavens sake, can't they ask me in a manner, that is nice and friendly? Not with that sarcastic undertone in their voice. Or ridiculing me. Ooooh! I hate that. Get ready for the battle then, cause I just stuck my claws out. I mean, If I saw somebody... -

I know, the honey mustard sauce that you get with this chicken (can't remember the name of that dish to safe my life) is glutenfree, because I get it everytime and never had a problem with it. I don't know about the honey mustard dressing heck, I didn't even know, they actually HAD honey mustard dressing . @ Viola: Yes, that is really cool. We told... -
OMG! OMG! That could be it. When a cat scratches me by accident I also get a real bad rash. Never knew, that cat litter had wheat in it. Duuuh ! And I was wondering the whole time, what in the world is at that cat's paw, that makes me react allergic???

I bet, there were some smarta...s at this reunion that stuck their heads together and were like 'I told you, she's faking it' and stupid stuff like that. You know, how it goes! Sorry to hear that. Hope you are feeling better today! I have a story to share with accidentaly getting gluten, too! I think, I was like a year or so into the diet. On... -

Wow, we only had 3 stations, when I was a kid. And I remember those learning kids programs. We only had one of them and one comic series, that was it. And that comic-thingy mostly came on Sundays. The rest was for adults, so we naturally didn't spend that much time in front of a TV. Then, when I turned 13 I remember I got an Atari play computer, that you... -
ARCHIVED Lindt Chocolate
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know, that the milk chocolate and the milk chocolate with whole hazelnuts from Lindt are glutenfree. I am very sensitive to gluten and usually know it right away. Even more so now, that I'm pregnant. I never had a reaction to those two. Not in the States and not in Germany. I don't know about their other stuff though. And I don't like dark chocolate, so... -
ARCHIVED How To Teach Family Members About Gluton Intollerance?
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The book thing is a good idea. In fact I would let the book lie around, where they could find it and maybe one day, they might sneakpeak into it. Who knows. That's also very true, that with the doctor. True but ironic, because in case of celiac it's exactly the doctors who mostly don't know anything and the "internet community" is more knowledgeable... -
ARCHIVED What We're Up Against...
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to CMCM's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Yes, I don't like that restaurant problem either. Some don't even listen, when you explain it to them. We wanted to eat out with our gymnastics group. It was a chinese restaurant. Now all the women in our women's gymnastic group know very well about my problem. So the one woman said 'No problem, I know the people, that own this restaurant. I wil talk to them... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to AllysonBrightMeyer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Allison, welcome to our board. It already happened to me too. I think, it was even on this board. I'm in so many boards, I can't even remember it anymore. I have the same problem. I know of a lot of things, that celiacs could do around here, but I'm not allowed to post it, since I'm the host . So I'm shutting up. It's kinda sad though. Well, never... -

stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to lenny2470's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hello Lenny, don't panic. Of course you can get pregnant. There have been tons of women getting pregnant while they didn't even know, they had celiac. My own mother is one of them. I was diagnosed in July 2004 and now, after about 2.5 years into the diet, I'm pregnant. We thought, it never happens. But finally we made it . It took a while, a lot of... -

Dear happynwgal, first I want to welcome you to this message board. I'm surprised, nobody answered yet . But then I remembered, today is superbowl, right, so not many people may be on here. I for my part could care less. I don't even know, who plays... Let me tell you, that you are not the only one out there with the "family-understanding"-problem... -
ARCHIVED I'm A Celiac For Attention
stef-the-kicking-cuty replied to IntensePort's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I would have faked such big cramps, that I would have thrown over the table with the food and then puke all over it. I'm sorry, but I hate people like that . I had one good friend being suspicious. She never told me to my face, that she thought I was lying, but her strange reaction gave me the feeling, that she thought, I was lying. I killed her with... -
