Let me make sure that I understand. If I cook eggs and vegetables in olive oil, the vegetables will absorb the oil and the two are digested together. The eggs, also cooked in olive oil, do not absorb the oil and so do not digest together with the other parts. I'm afraid that doesn't make any sense to me. Why would eggs absorb oil less than vegetables...

That's where I did my post doc. Is your degree in biochemistry? Are you telling me that the protective molecules are chemically bonded to the omega 6 fatty acids such that they are still in physical proximity after the digestion that takes place in the stomach? What are these protective molecules called?

I understand that my source was referring to grain fed chickens. I was comparing it to your grain fed chicken number "Eggs from grain fed chickens are very high in inflammatory omega 6 fatty acids, with an omega 6 to omega 3 fatty acid ratio of about 20-30 to 1. " which was quite different compared with the 15 to 1 of my source. It seems like there are...

How interesting. It would be nice to have another explanation for my symptoms besides reactions to extremely low levels of gluten. I decided to look into this further. My source on eggs gave an omega 6 to 3 ratio of 15 to 1 with 1616 mg omega 6 in a cup. Open Original Shared Link I eat a lot of olive oil which has a ratio of 13 to 1 with 210...

The last time I bought buckwheat with "wheat and gluten free" on the box was within this last year. I bought whole groats and found what looked like wheat grains in three of the 4 boxes. I phoned them and was told I would be called back and wasn't. Then I wrote them using snail mail and included the questionable grains and didn't hear back from that either...

ARCHIVED Deep Depression With Pmt Three Months After Glutening
dilettantesteph replied to CR5442's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Is it possible that you are still getting some low level glutening somewhere? That would be my experience. I hope that you feel better soon. Depression is the worst. -
ARCHIVED Looking For Ultra Safe Brand Of Brown Sugar?
dilettantesteph replied to shayre's topic in Super Sensitive People
I am extremely sensitive and I haven't found a brand of processed sugar that I can tolerate. I tried about a half dozen before I gave up. I grow sugar beets and can eat them just fine. I also had a brand of honey that I was able to tolerate. I make my applesauce without added sweetener and it's very good. I use golden delicious apples because they are... -

Lots of plants that we eat everyday have pesticides in them naturally. You can read up about it. Whether or not adding them purposefully is harmful is up for debate. It is hard to prove a negative. -
ARCHIVED Mind Blown Help?

ARCHIVED We Were Doing So Good.....
dilettantesteph replied to mommy2krj's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Poor little guy. I'm sorry. -
I eat spicy foods every day now. I had to quit completely before my diagnosis. It might be worth a try to make it from scratch. I guess it depends on much you want to keep eating it.

ARCHIVED Why Is She Still Getting Tummy Aches?
dilettantesteph replied to kkcg2736's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was diagnosed at age 10 and had the same problem. We reduced processed foods and that helped. Eliminating processed corn and soy products was particularly helpful. I hope that she feels better soon. -
Do you like experimenting? Maybe it's something to do with La Costena. Can you get fresh jalapenos in your grocer? Why not see if that makes any difference. Maybe you can keep on eating spicy foods if you cook from scratch. That worked for me. I grew some very hot peppers and made my own sauce. Yum.

ARCHIVED Could Your Retainer Be Preventing Healing? Yes.
dilettantesteph replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Publications & Publicity
Thank you for posting this. It is another thing to try if you are continuing to have symptoms. It explains a recent experience of mine that I was having difficulty figuring out. I am also going to check out my son's retainer. I doubt that this one child has a retainer made of unique materials and all other children's retainers won't be a problem... -
ARCHIVED Does Gluten Break Down From A Surface After A While?
dilettantesteph replied to BelleVie's topic in Super Sensitive People
It sounds like I alarmed you. I am sorry for that. This is what I said: "I have examples of it not seeming to wash off either. " I only said "seem". I don't have proof that I can post here in this forum. All I know is that I wash everything like crazy. Still, I regularly react to things that I get in the store, and I don't react to things that I... -

ARCHIVED Tummy Aches And Diarrhea Help, It Can't Be Gluten
dilettantesteph replied to SilverSlipper's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
From your title, it would seem that you have ruled out gluten as a possibility. Then, it seems like that might not be the case with the Lucky Charms. This diet can be challenging sometimes. I believe you that you are very good with the diet. Sometimes things change. It isn't even always a change that we make. Sometimes a manufacturer will make a formulation... -
ARCHIVED Stomach Issues
dilettantesteph replied to shadowicewolf's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I noticed the same thing early on. I could drink milk, but butter bothered me a lot and cheese less so. I think that something was concentrated in the butter and cheese that was more dilute in the milk. I didn't seem to have problems with other fat sources so it is unclear what the problem is. -
ARCHIVED Some Research To Consider When In The Diagnosing Prosess
dilettantesteph replied to Mum in Norway's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I sure agree with that sweeping statement comment. It's even worse when the doctor seems about 10 years behind in his reading!! -

I think that I am having problems with cc in rice. I might just have a problem with rice, but it is less severe when I wash it like crazy. I did better with rice from Thailand, but still had symptoms. I have another rice coming from another source next week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The probiotic I take is Align and it's discussed here:... -
ARCHIVED Possible Ingestion Of Gluten?
dilettantesteph replied to musiscience's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I first went gluten free, my symptoms resolved when all I did was eliminate my Cheerios and bread. Then they came back and I had to educate myself about where gluten can be found. It seemed like I kept getting more and more sensitive to trace gluten and I had to learn more and more about how to avoid it. This apparent increase in sensitivity seems...- 7 replies
