  1. You may not be eating gluten free, but only "gluten lite". Some celiacs like me react to allowed levels in gluten free foods. Maybe try a whole foods diet for a few days and see if that helps.
  2. I'd check new things in your diet. Something might be cc'ed.
  3. This year my son is in 8th grade. He had two study halls and lunch in the school cafeteria. He also missed 17 days of school the first quarter due to mystery glutenings. He finally told me about the study halls in the cafeteria and we asked for him to be removed from the cafeteria completely. He is in a classroom for study hall and has lunch in some chairs...
  4. The year that my son stated showing symptoms he missed about a third of school. They had been sending him to the social worker who said that it was school phobia. When our doctor came up with celiac disease they didn't want to believe it. They wouldn't let him leave the room when crackers were passed around the room. He got crumbs all over him and must...
  5. It seems to me that having your period intensifies glutening effects. Even after more than 3 years, if I have any gluten contamination my PMS like symptoms are terrible, but if I am nicely gluten free, I don't even know it's coming.
  6. Yes, that happened to me too. At first all my problems were solved by removing bread and cheerios from my diet. Now it is much more complicated with almost no processed foods. Unfortunately that "processed in a facility that also processes..." statement is voluntary. You need to research everything. I add new foods one per week so that I can check for...
  7. I am sorry that you have been suffering like that. How long have you been gluten free?
  8. Some celiacs like me who think that they are sensitive to low levels of gluten also think that they react to distilled alcohol from a gluten grain source. I do fine with potato vodka.
  9. Since you mentioned living on fruit and vegetables alone, I'm guessing that you are on a diet of non processed foods. Is that because you are very sensitive to cc? Maybe you need to have a gluten free household? I understand your issues with cleaning. Who wants to clean when you can barely get out of bed. I was like that before diagnosis and until I...
  10. When I read the title I thought there would be a picture and had to click on it. LOL Stickiness is a big sign for me of glutening. Also, the lots of little pieces thing. Hope things get better for her soon.
  11. Good for you. My ability to exercise also improved a huge amount. I'm going Nordic skiing today.
  12. I've been gluten free for over 3 years. The biopsy was just for conformation, which it looks like I won't be getting any time soon. Tell me about the iodine reaction.
  13. Shoot. She is supposed to be the best in the area. I knew it wasn't looking good when she recommended oatmeal baths.
  14. Is it possible that you need an intact blister even if you biopsy next to it? It is this doctor or wait until I move to a new area. She is one of those doctors who already knows everything and is unwilling to listen. When asked a question she didn't know she just answered with a bunch of stuff she did know.
  15. I thought that the biopsy was supposed to be adjacent to a blister. Why should it matter whether or not the blister is intact? It is really hard not to scratch so that it stays intact. Plus, the doctor said that it is the blister which is biopsied until I said that I thought it was next to the blister where you were supposed to biopsy. Does she know what...
  16. There have been several posts about this topic. Maybe try searching it. I noticed after about 2 months gluten free that my vision seemed better without the glasses than with them. I stopped wearing the glasses, except for driving because it was mandated. After about a year I went back to the eye doctor and my vision was 20:20 in one eye when it had...
  17. I had lots of unexpected things get better too. The weirdest one is that my vision got better. I no longer needed my glasses which I got in my 20's.
  18. I have a problem with raisins and dates too, but not fructose in general. Additionally, some brands bother me more than others. That makes me conclude that it is cc and not fructose, or something about the dried fruit itself. That should vary by brand, while cc easily could.
  19. I don't think that they would include someone who isn't fully healed in a study which examines whether or not something is causing damage. For example, the Fasano study (referenced below) which was used to recommend the FDA limit of 20 ppm excluded a patient who had a full remission with the 10 mg/day gluten consumption rate. Someone who is sensitive to...
  20. First off, a peptide is a molecule. Open Original Shared Link So is a protein. Open Original Shared Link Also, peptides can be odorants. This is a research paper about the odorant uroguanylin: Open Original Shared Link This is the Wiki page which says that it is a 16 amino acid peptide: Open Original Shared Link It is kind of amazing that a ...
  21. I had been off dairy for years before diagnosis because it had such a bad effect on my body. It could easily have been as long as 10 years like you. After diagnosis I realized that lactose intolerance can be induced by the damage caused by celiac and I did reintroduce it after a year or so of healing. I am so happy to be able to eat it now. It is one...
  22. My leave in conditioner had wheat in it so I had to give it up. Then I found another one but they discontinued it shortly after that. I realized that hand lotion looks a lot like it and I tried that. It actually worked better than the leave in conditioner had. I have curly, dry, frizzy hair. Give it a try.
  23. I can understand where you are coming from. The needs of the newly diagnosed and less sensitive celiacs are very different from the needs of the super sensitive celiacs. I know that early on after my diagnosis I realized that I was more sensitive than others and I couldn't get any information about it. I stayed sick for a long time while I figured that...
  24. I think that we all agree with you there. I think that we are only referring to those who are very sensitive to low levels of gluten.
  25. I eat a lot of nuts, and I shell them myself to be safe. Recently I seem to be reacting even to them. I don't know if it is just nuts. I don't react to macadamia which I get from a place which only deals in them. The other nuts I get from nutsonline which sell lots of things. Maybe though separate lines, it isn't a separate facility and that is enough...
