  1. The food journal is always a good idea to help you get a handle on other sensitivities. In the beginning, I could not tolerate any fruit and had a hard time digesting alternate flours. I was already lactose intolerant so it just seemed more par for the course. But I now can eat any fruit and do, dairy didn't really change for me and I have given up most...
  2. I agree with the PP. I also recommend the coconut milk, it's very high in good dietary fat. I add to anything that's milky; like smoothies, omelettes, milk of any kind, dips, etc. Avocado is another good fat. It doesn't really matter when he eats his protein during the day but it will be satisfying to him and last longer with him. Just don't feed him anything...
  3. Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that the rash was my only symptom. I had many, many others but I justified those in one way or another, you know, I'm getting older so I must have arthritis; I had my gallbladder out so I can't have normal BM's now, etc. It was just that I'm not prone to rashes and this was very painful as well as the itch and it was getting...
  4. Are any of you sensitive to nightshades? Peppers and paprika are nightshades.
  5. I don't really know WHAT we are dealing with. My son is 19 months old and has an insatiable appetite. He's been dairy and wheat free since 13 months old. Is your goal to have him eat gluten free? Just wheat free? We've only relied on muscle testing for his weak/strong foods. We've found that with the addition of enzyme powder his appetite is greatly...
  6. Wow, that is a head scratcher!! He would be constipated if all he eats is bread! Maybe you could switch out some of his bread products for gluten free. Granted, no gluten-free bread is going to taste good to him, it just doesn't compare. But if you could get him to eat say muffins, you could make them gluten-free and sneak some good stuff in there like...
  7. I refer to myself as celiac. I wouldn't mind if it were intolerance as long as I feel better. The reason I finally found out is because of the rashes. I'm not prone to skin problems or sensitive to label in clothing or soaps. But suddenly I was miserable with a rash that was getting more serious as time went on. I actually had been having another rash...
  8. I didn't ask before but it occurs to me to ask how much are you normally eating? What's a typical day's menu for you? Fever sounds like a virus but I agree if you are having a lot of abdominal pain with it, a visit to your dr might be in order.
  9. I agree with the PP. I only now get reflux and heartburn when I've eaten something I shouldn't. That's one of the problems I get when eating any grains. I really feel much better when I don't eat any.
  10. I will simply add, don't lose hope! Your system is completely out of whack and is just so sensitive it's like a two year old who learned to say, NO! Just because you are reacting to certain foods now doesn't mean you still will later. After your system has had some healing time, then you can carefully challenge some of those foods. You may be able to reintroduce...
  11. The advice about vitamins is spot on. Sublingual B12 ( methyl type ) was a huge help to me. But don't forget the magnesium. The calcium has to have mag to work properly. When the epsom salts baths relieve your muscles, that's because those are magnesium salts and another thing mag does is relax muscles and the walls of your veins and arteries. That's...
  12. There are a couple of things it could be. It sure could be CC from your friend's kitchen. It could also be the small amount of gluten that is often in mixes of that type. Even if it's labelled gluten-free, it can still have small amounts in it and a sensitive person can react to it. It also could be that one of the ingredients is something you do...
  13. Welcome to the Forum!! I'm glad to have a dx that puts me in charge of my own health and not dependent on drugs.
  14. I don't think it's supportive to criticize the choices that parents have to make. Just because you might have a strong opinion, doesn't mean it's the only right choice. It is appropriate to relate your own experience and then let the poster make their own desicion based on their own best judgement. Later in life we all look back and wish we had done some...

    ARCHIVED Sick

You could be getting sneaky gluten from a source you felt was safe or maybe it's another sensitivity. A food journal can help narrow it down. It sounds a lot like I felt when I tried a new tea this winter. It took me awhile to figure that one out but I felt SO much better when I threw it out.
  16. Spice blends can be tricky. What are the ingredients?
  17. When my son had allergy bum, I remember cleansing it and then drying it well with a blow dryer on the cold setting. All the treatments seemed to work better if the skin was dry.
  18. I too, have headaches, every day of my life. My neuro asks me when they start, I tell him, "I go to bed with a headache, I wake up with a headache, you tell me, when do they start?" My headaches I think having everything to do with my neck and shoulders, and the doc and I will be discussing this Friday. I just wanted to comment on headaches. From...
  19. I was not financially able to get a dx when it came to my attention that I probably had celiac disease. In hindsight, I'm glad I just went on the diet and never looked back. If I had tested, it might have taken months for a dx and I was suffering. The way I did it gave me immediate relief and I won't go through it again for testing. If there is a reason...
  20. Calcium can't work properly without magnesium. Dr. Carolyn Dean recommends 600 mgs for a normal size adult. Work up to that dose slowly to avoid D.
  21. I feel like you. I see celiac disease everywhere. I know my family gets fed up with it. But I think you gave them good advice. What can it hurt? This child is probably having blood drawn every little bit anyway so to run another test on the blood is no problem. The problem I foresee is that even if he tests positive this dr will write it off according...
  22. Would your doctor dx you based on your blood work and dietary response? Then you wouldn't have to go through a biopsy.
  23. My sister makes cheese potatoes that are legendary! Boil potatoes until cooked; cool, then peel and shred (like a hash brown). Spread a layer in a 9" x 12" pan, sprinkle with seasoned salt, onion powder or diced onions and a layer of your favorite shredded cheese. Build the layers until you've reach almost to the top of the pan then pour whipping...
  24. My choice was not too. By the time I was financially able to see the dr, I had been gluten-free for about 6 months. The difference in my health was dramatic. I refused to make myself sick for a test. But...that is your decision. If you feel the dx is important to your dealing with the diet, then go for it. I think you must decide how you will feel...
  25. Good point, Nora. That just reinforces the practise of always asking for a copy of any testing ordered for you.
