  1. Getting the proper amount of magnesium should open things up. Work your way up to about 600 mg a day.
  2. Yesterday I had: Constant Comment tea with stevia 2 eggs scrambled with tomato and onion in butter morning vitamins grapes and cheddar cheese smoothie with unflavored soy milk and stevia, chocolate syrup pan fried chcken breast with Lawry's Seasoned Salt green beans water chocolate and peanuts homemade...
  3. I don't think there is a consensus on this question. I understood it to be the way you described when I started out but since then I have read so many opposing medical opinions that I don't know who is right. I tend to think, just my personal opinion, the GI is the starting point to further damage that can at the correct point of intestinal damage be labeled...
  4. Good luck on your testing! I hope you'll give the gluten-free diet a test run even if your tests are negative. That's the only way you'll know. The phrase I never want to say again is "I'm so tired of being tired."
  5. You could try the spray on magnesium oil.
  6. I am lactose intolerant. When I was her age, I could still have milk but I always had a thick throat with it. It was the congestion that dripped down my throat and made it feel thick and then I would cough. It could have been slightly swollen too; I just don't remember. I realized what was wrong at about age 17 and stopped having fresh milk. After...
  7. We eat lentils and I've never had a problem with them. We rinse the dry ones first and soak overnight. I have never had a problem with canned beans of any kind though I haven't had chickpeas in a while.
  8. Here's the ingredients off my container: high fructose corn syrup; corn syrup, water, cocoa; sugar; contains 2% or less of: potassium sorbate (preservative); salt; mon-diglycerides; xanthan gum; polysorbate 60; vaniliin, artificial flavor. Didn't see any dyes either. Could there be another reason?
  9. Tinkyada is the best! I made lasagne and DH tasted it then said, "This is really good". You know, all surprised like! "You thought it was going to be some weird gluten-free thing, didn't you?" "Yeah..." "Well, it is gluten-free. But it's really good, isn't it?" He can't tell the difference and neither can I.
  10. i usually eat a breakfast of hardboiled eggs and watermellon. lunch is usually these glutton free granola bars You are not eating enough. You need more dietary fat for breakfast like whole milk or full fat yogurt and add some meat like ham or bacon to those eggs. A breakfast shake with safe ingredients added to that would be great. Watermelon can...
  11. Your body is telling you it can't deal with gluten. I would believe my body's response before any tests or dr's opinions. Testing is OK but it isn't 100% accurate. Many people test negative by blood and the biopsy, well just imagine your intestine open and stretched out like a floor. That floor is as big as a tennis court! They only take a few samples...
  12. This is how I am most every day. I have been gluten-free for about a year and 1/2. I don't know why we are this way but as long as I don't have the chronic, suck-in-your-breath, bend over pain, then I'm OK with it.
  13. I would say you just found the biggest, most humongous piece of the puzzle! Growth and development are the keystones of health. Congratulations, Mom!
  14. Sorry to hear you're unhappy but the only way to change that is to change how you handle your own food. Don't expect the people around you to change because you will probably be disapointed. The problem with eating no meat is that those with celiac disease seem to need especially high amounts of protein. You are going to have to research and do some...
  15. * on the meat thing - I'm discovering that most meat you buy at the grocery store these days has gluten added to it. So I'm looking at a whole freezer full of meat that I can't eat. Raw meat should have no gluten. What made you think it does? Frozen chicken in parts often has broth added to it. It will say so on the package and the ingredient...
  16. I certainly understand about getting your hopes up. But, really, what have you got to lose? The diet is pretty straightforward and your body will give you answers one way or another. I found within 3 days I saw signs of a positive dietary response. Other people take longer but still I think it's a valid point that a few months should be a good enough...
  17. Sorry, I usually only get them now when I am glutened. Before I would have them frequently for many years, maconozole is a staple in my bathroom! It very well could be candida and there are some here who are well versed in its symptoms. Maybe they will respond for you.
  18. I don't have an official dx and don't feel the need for one. These days one never knows what insurance companies will do with medical histories anyway. I'm convinced and am sure it's celiac disease based on dietary response and the clearing up of DH. Iknow a dr never "said" it was DH but I do. It looked like DH and responds to the diet, reoccurs with...
  19. The doc said my rash was nothing like DH despite lookinhg like it to me and my GP and that it could not be as mine are painful and irritating and DH is never painful only itchy. Is this true as I had read it was painful? My DH was so painful it repeatedly woke me out of my sleep at night. He also said that as my symptoms were massivly improved by...
  20. Here, here!! I am self diagnosed and I don't give a hoot whether a dr believes me or not. I tell anyone who's business it is that I have celiac disease and I sincerely believe I do. The dietary response is dramatic and the rashes, DH, are gone unless I get glutened. I have a family history of auto immunes and I think I probably got it from my dad. I suspect...
  21. What kind were those? My Walmart only sells the cyanoobalamin not the methyl kind.
  22. My hands had been falling asleep at night too. They haven't done that in a long time. I did Not want carpal tunnel to return! But in hindsight, I forgot to take my B12 for several days and I bet that was it. Also I have varicose veins and I have one spot that is so painful and burning behind my knee. This time it was hurting again and that's when I...
  23. Can you post her blood results here? There are those who are good at reading those test results. It can't hurt to get a second opinion on them. Sometimes dr's get locked into the entire reading and don't report to you readings that are borderline to them. celiac disease is highly specialized and there aren't a ton of doc's out there who know all the ins...
  24. I would probably break out from using that product but you haven't so I wouldn't let it worry me. You seem to be fine with it. Put it out of your mind and rest at ease.
  25. I know if I were eating as much grain as you, I would be C'd and have pain too. I feel much better without them. I can eat them in moderation but I am limiting grains and have found a new level of "feel good". I know you really don't like to limit yourself but it does become habit in a short time. Look how well you've adjusted so far. I think you're...
