  1. I'm sorry you're feeling so bad. You may want to look up the SCD diet. It has been helpful to quite a few super sensitives and there is quite a long thread on the forum about it. I hope it helps you.
  2. You've asked this question before. Are you hoping that someone here will suddenly tell you to go for it? You're in the wrong place. It seems like your main concern is what other people think, maybe that's the issue you should be thinking about. It seems like a wonderful trip and yet you want to let that fear spin round and round in your head. Let it...
  3. When it was free at work, I used to get it. We worked in an enclosed environment with the air recirculating around like an aircraft so the germs would spin round and round. But I haven't had one for years. I don't think I want the swine flu one as the testing on humans is limited.
  4. That's really good advice. I was still having intestinal pain until I really restricted the alternate grains. I was surprised how much better I felt. Since you've had more serious problems than I, the SCD might be a good way for you to get everything calmed down. Cabbage really is very good for digestion, I used to eat a small amount of sauerkraut every...
  5. Well, you already know you have celiac disease with flattened villi so if your money is tight, I wouldn't test for it again. You might want to make sure you're not getting sneaky gluten like in the bar you were eating. Maybe there is still gluten hiding in something else you are eating or taking. Or you could be sensitive to something new. What's...
  6. Yes, the U of Chicago Celiac Center reccomends 6 weeks of gluten ingestion for children. I would guess adults would be the same my friend's DD did it for 6 weeks and she was 20 YO.
  7. It was hard to leave my daughter. Of course, she couldn't wait for us to get out of there and it was good to have that attitude out of the house. But she really saved the day for me. After about a week she started calling me every day and has continued that. She's 22 now. I never really expected that and it saved my sanity. I was bustin' my buttons...
  8. What are the ingredients listed on you seasoning?
  9. OK, confession time. I have been too impatient to wait for a brownie to defrost and ate them right out of the freezer...wow, that felt good. I didn't break my teeth although that probably wouldn't have stopped me from trying tit again!!

    ARCHIVED Dh?

    Mine looked like that.
  11. I've always been fortunate with my hair but my nails....they are the pits! They are some stronger now than before. They can actually grow out a little! Nice!
  12. Welcome to the forum! I'm so glad you have found your first answer! I felt the same when the idea first came to my attention. Can it really be this simple? Can I really just change my diet and be healed? To me it was a miracle. I hope it all works for you. Keep us posted and ask anything you need.
  13. There are tests for true allergies but there are differing opinions on their effectiveness. There are no tests for sensitivities and he's right that an elimination diet is the test. I know of two allergists who ordered the patient to do elimination diets at home to discover their food problems. My question is if they're just going to have you do all the...
  14. It's not that easy to have positive blood results so if you're positive, I would get on the diet right away. Even if the biopsy turns out to be negative, it could just mean they didn't hit the right spot in your small intestine to sample from. Positive bloodwork is pretty conclusive.
  15. I would guess that if you didn't discuss the celiac blood work with your dr, he probably didn't order it. Call the office and find out. If not, go back and get it or ask that they run it with some of the blood they've already drawn. Do not start the diet if you want to be tested as it will throw the testing off. If you don't care about the testing, then...
  16. You must understand that any product labeled "gluten-free" doesn't mean it completely is. It's OK for those products to still have small amounts of gluten that sensitive people still react to. That said you could be reacting to something else in these foods. Many flour based products have guar gum which can have a laxative affect. I can only tolerate...
  17. I'm glad you have some answers to your health and can settle down to healing. The genetic question is a good one. I'm self diagnosed so I don't know for myself but am interested in what other members have discovered. If you don't get many responses, you may want to start a new topic with this issue.
  18. Isn't it weird that we can have a new reaction pop up at any time? Yeah it can happen. I'm fighting a rash on my legs after I bought new sensitive skin razors. It didn't say on the package but I bet it has Vitamin E which is often from wheat. sigh... We can have a skin allergy to wheat or oats in addition to celiac disease. I probably do as I tend...
  19. What about your seasonings? Have you purged your spices including anything you may have double dipped a gluteny spoon into in another life? Also some of those symptoms could be helped by sublingual B12. It really helped me. You're not eating anything that might have MSG, are you?
  20. You can have the Enterolab test at any time. You don't have to be eating gluten for it.
  21. You are in the best place there is to learn about celiac disease and it's myriad secrets!! Welcome to the forum and simply start reading. There so much info here and so much to learn.
  22. This does sound like an allergic reaction which, of course, you already know. The way you described your lips it reminded me of another poster who was describing how ingesting MSG made her feel. I also wondered when you said Koolaid because of the food dyes. But like you said, each time was different foods. You also mentioned ham and I started reacting...
  23. I will react stronger and stronger each day I eat the gluten. The worst reaction I had was eating a very small amount of gluten two days in a row. Even though it was accidental on my part, I've never done that again. I don't believe I would be able to stand a gluten challenge. In fact I told my dr I wouldn't do it.
  24. I'm not a dr but your endoscopy sounds like a celiac disease dx to me. Yes, it is possible for the blood work to be negative and you still to have celiac disease. I would go on the gluten free diet immediately. I'm betting you see many of those nasty problems resolve over time. Start out simply eating whole foods you prepare yourself like meats,...
  25. I am so glad you are getting treated at least for your thyroid. When I lived in a foreign country, I can't even imagine being so sick. You have been given great advice I just wanted to add that I'm thinking of you and please keep us posted.
