ARCHIVED Intermitent Dizzyness
ang1e0251 replied to Googles's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I tend to dizzy when my blood sugar is too low and the most common times for my blood sugar to be low is morning and bed time. Could that be your problem? Can the dizziness be relieved by eating a protein, cheese or a slice of lunchmeat? -
ARCHIVED Risk Of Going Gluen Free .....help?
ang1e0251 replied to DVjorge's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Eating gluten free for a time does not make you gluten intolerant. You probably eat certain foods for holidays or special events that you don't eat at other times of the year. Do you react to those foods? No, because not eating them all year does not make you intolerant to them. If you are reacting to gluten you body is telling you, that you cannot tolerate... -
ARCHIVED Withdraw From Gluten?
ang1e0251 replied to glutenfreegal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Remember that your body is trying to trick you because it is missing the gluten, so in the beginning you need to trick it back. For me that meant not letting myself get too hungry because then I would find myself mindlessly reaching for gluten. That was a dangerous time. I carry a Lara bar with me for those occasions, still. Also the visiualization of... -
ARCHIVED Any One Here Have Foot Pain When They Eat Gluten?
ang1e0251 replied to Lynayah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I just plain swell all over when glutened. I have ingrown big toenails. I get a lot of pain there when glutened & if it's bad they will infect. I stopped having that problem when I stay gluten-free. I imagine it ties into the swelling. -
ARCHIVED Going Back To Meat...maybe. Craving Protein.
ang1e0251 replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Absolutely! I need the protein or I get those hypoglycemic crashes. I often use cheese and nuts for snacks too for the same reason. I agree with listen to what your body wants. There is a reason it needs it and it doesn't care if you get the icks! -
ARCHIVED Resources For Family Members To Understand X-contamination?
ang1e0251 replied to StephanieM's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry you're having a problem but your husband really needs to step in and explain it to them. The one whose family it is with the problem, needs to defend their spouse, that's the rule and the only way it really works. He needs to say, " if you're going to touch her food with the same bar-b-que tongs and cook it besde gluteny food, then she can't eat it... -
ARCHIVED I Think I Was Glutened, But How?
ang1e0251 replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't know about where you live but here there is a stomach thing going around. I had it this weekend and hit the pepto for about 3 days. I know what I was eating was OK, boring but OK. It is so hard sometimes to tell the difference between the flu and a glutening. I often describe my symptoms to lay people as like having the worst stomach flu you've... -
ARCHIVED Symptoms Get Worse Before They Get Better (gluten-free Diet)
ang1e0251 replied to Tim86's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've been trying a gluten free diet for about 22 days now, and it seems like I feel worse than before. I'm hoping to relieve so-called IBS problems. In the past 22 days, I've had more abdominal cramping, about the same amount of diarrhea, and more nausea (which I rarely had before). Are you eating dairy? Many of us cannot tolerate it in the beginning... -
ARCHIVED Chicken Ideas Please
ang1e0251 replied to Ariauna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I'll share 2 chicken recipes with you, an old favorite and a new favorite. Old Favorite - Green Chili Enchiladas Fry or bake chicken breasts cut into chunks in 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 butter. Add Lowry's Seasoned Salt to taste. When done, lower the heat in your skillet and add a large bar of cream cheese and a can of chopped green chilis. (Can... -

ARCHIVED Very High Hdl Cholesterol
ang1e0251 replied to elle's mom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I haven't checked my cholesteral for a few years. Last time it was 75. But I have really changed my mind about cholesteral and blood sugar since I read this book recommended by another poster. I already was against statins but this changed my opinion about it all and I changed the way my husband and I eat. He just was tested and since eating mostly this... -
ARCHIVED Colonoscopy Question
ang1e0251 replied to jjc's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The other posters are correct, your daughter needs an endoscopy to reveal celiac disease but it will not show any damage if she has been gluten-free for a year. She will need at least 8 weeks of a gluten challenge before she can have an accurate endoscopy. Not that you shouldn't do the colonoscopy, that's up to you but if it were me, I'd like them... -

ARCHIVED Confused About Enterolab Test And Need For "gluten Challenge"
ang1e0251 replied to terin514's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
For an endoscopy or blood panel you need to eat gluten because one tests for antibodies and you need to eat the gluten for there to be antibodies. The other is a look at your small intestine where biopsies are taken. Again for the damage to be present you need to be producing antibodies and you must be eating gluten for that to happen. I believe Enterolab... -
ARCHIVED Very Frustrated - Colonoscopy After 9 Month Wait - No Upper Gi
ang1e0251 replied to Tracylew's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can demand an endoscopy but not if you have to wait months to get it. If that is the case, I would just begin the gluten-free diet and never look back. That is a personal choice and it's OK if you want to wait and have the test. Maybe if you explain to your dr how the gastro screwed up, your dr can pressure them to have the test very soon. -
Sounds like your body is giving you the answers you need. You're one of those teacher people that I so admire but could never be so you need all your energy. I hope this restores your health and you're back doing that so important job.

ARCHIVED Rash On Lips, Itchy Mouth And Swollen Throat
ang1e0251 replied to luciddream928's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I can't believe you said mangos! I'm allergic to mangos too! In fact, I pulled up your thread because the symptoms you listed are what I get if I eat domestic mangos (strangely, I can eat mangos in Colombia with no problems). OK, now I'm calm. I have read another poster who had that kind of reaction to MSG. Is that a possibility for you? -
ARCHIVED Does Glutening Or Dairy Cause Anyones Gastritis To Flare?
ang1e0251 replied to Mrs. Smith's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Both can do a number on me but eating dairy again would be a definate for those symptoms. The PP was right. Stop it for awhile then challenge to see where you stand. -
ARCHIVED New Celiac With Little Success
ang1e0251 replied to kblair's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's natural to have a mourning period over losing a part of your life. But I believe you should set yourself some limits. Allow yourself to feel sorry about losing gluten and all that goes with it for a period of time, then tell yourself, this is it! Now I'm going to pick myself up and look at life from a positive outlook. It's not easy and at first... -
ARCHIVED Wheat Consumption May Contribute To Diabetes
ang1e0251 replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks, I'll send it to my sister and niece who are probably glassy-eyed from the info I send them, all to no avail. I keep saying I won't send anymore but I get concerned, you know. -
ARCHIVED Weird Cold Feelings
ang1e0251 replied to Krystens mummy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had forgotten that kind of symptom until you mentioned it. I was getting a sensation in my upper arm that felt like I'd brushed up against something or someone was touching me to get my attention. Totally creepy. I haven't had that in a long time. If I miss my B12 for a couple of days, I get the tingling and pins and needles in my toes as well as... -

ARCHIVED Gluten Reaction 4 Hrs Later?
ang1e0251 replied to sugarsue's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
You mentioned she wanted to eat and eat. That's one of my main symptoms when glutened, insatiable hunger. I can't stop eating even when my stomach feels full.
