  1. How do you cook and season your meat?
  2. Life without chocolate...........that would be sad. There must be some kind you can have. I'll look for some next time I'm out. Do you have dairy? There was a time when I reacted to the dairy in milk chocolate.
  3. I saw on the news that many university students now qualify & are using food stamps. That would be a big financial help to you if you qualify. Couldn't hurt to look into it.
  4. Congratulations! Go crazy in the little person's clothes department!
  5. In addition to what your dr prescribes, a tablespoon each of apple cider vinegar and honey in a cup of warm water 3 times a day is an old home remedy for breast infection. It's good for a host of other ailments as well. Adjust the measurement for taste; I like more honey, DH likes more vinegar.
  6. We are a product of our experiences and our personalities. A lesser person would have used those years as an excuse to whine the rest of their lives and not be productive. But you've taken the first step toward a productive and happy future by expressing a desire for a new outlook. You can do it too. Focus on every new fealing of health and good experience...
  7. I eat the ham every day and tolerate it fine. I've had the other flavors with no problem, just like the ham best.
  8. There are definate links to mental health and gluten intolerance. As suggested on your other thread, she should go gluten-free immediately and you should track her food reactions as she progresses. Since she is showing "the blues" in a mild way, I think you could give her some time on the diet and see if those feelings don't subside. If they become severe...
  9. You need your own toaster. You really cannot control the crumb factor. Making the kid's sandwiches only requires you to prep them on a paper towel then fold in the crumbs and throw away. Then wash your hands. Don't freak out just be concious of gluten. None of us are perfect, so we just have to go with our best effort. At some point you may want to test...
  10. Healing time really varies from person to person. You will respond best to natural whole foods that you prepare yourself for now. Meats, beans, potatoes, fruits and vegetables are best. Use one ingredient spices and keep a food journal. That way if another food is affecting you, you'll notice it right away. Once you have this kind of eating mastered and...
  11. The endoscopy itself is a piece of cake. I had one and my daughter at 14, also had one. In and out in no time with no pain for us. Some report a slight sore throat. Your dr probably will not be able to see damage and that is why they will take biopsies. Those will be examined microscopically and then they will report the results to you. It's a good step...
  12. For dairy, I was already intolerant many years so I didn't change anything there. Fresh milk products no, aged products yes. If I would have felt bad, eating cheeses I would have stopped but I would have cried a lot!
  13. Dr. Carolyn Dean had a story of a patient who showed improved asthma symptoms when he increased his magnesium intake. If you would increase your magnesium and eliminate gluten, maybe your symptoms would improve greatly??
  14. I was going to mention magnesium too. It is very calming. It relaxes your muscles and blood vessels. With all the stress in your life, you may be running on low. Dr. Carolyn Dean recommends about 600 mg's a day for a normal sized adult. Start at a low dose and build up to the 600 mg's or you can suffer D.
  15. I don't plan to have either flu shot. I think it is not necesary for my age group and health. If my daughter were pregnant, I would consider it for her as that group seems to be more suseptable. I saw a report last night where the comment was made that the vaccine won't be ready before the epidemic hits us....so?
  16. I'm not aware of gluten being absorbed by plastic but the rest of the advice is good. If you have glass or stainless steel cookware, a really good scrubbing should do the trick. But any nonstick cookware that is well scratched, should probably not be used for his food. It just might be easier to designate a pan or two for his food use only. He needs his...
  17. What nutrients to we get from wheat flour?
  18. Ok - now I don't feel crazy! I was glutened and have been having the worst TOE PAIN. It even hurts to get a pedicure or if my kids accidentally bump my toes. That's me!! There was a time before gluten-free that I could even tolerate the weight of the covers on my toes at night. My husband had to rig a thing to hold the covers above my feet! Much...
  19. Egg noodles! M-m-m-m!
  20. I read this book another poster mentioned and it was a real eye opener about diabetes and heart problems. I know so many people with these problems. It turned what I had learned about nutrition and these two problems on it's head. Here's a link to the book's introduction. I borrowed it from my library.( By the way, this diet is working for me. Lost wieght...
  21. Do you eat a lot of soy? A lot of people have problems with it and you can have a problem with both, gluten and soy. A short test like you did isn't really long enough to eliminate gluten you probably need to try the diet for several months to be sure. You can ease a lot of pain with vitamin D and magnesium also. Not just the amount in a multivitamin...
  22. Because it could also be the number of other chemicals I have inadvertently cut from my diet bc gluten is in a ton of processed foods. You could be right but seriously when you cheated you felt bad again, isn't that kind of an obvious cause and effect? Because I don't want to believe that I can never eat pizza from papa johns again. There...
  23. You could have been glutened through cc, pretty easy to do in the beginning. Have you been eating processed foods or mixes labeled gluten-free? Those can have small amounts of gluten that sensitive people react to. Or, for me, just eating alternate grains give me the glass in the gut feeling. You'll have to analyze what you've eaten to find you answer...
  24. My earliest clue might have been lactose intolerance in high school which took me a few years to figure out. I started having the brain fog, fatigue, insomnia and a much harder time concentrating about 5th grade. I don't know if that's related or no. I didn't have any trouble with my stomach until my daughter was about 2 YO, I was about 32. After...
  25. I'm with you. I didn't have a problem giving up gluten but giving up meat would probably make me take to my bed....
