  1. If you're cooking on the stovetop and her pans are aluminum, a thorough cleaning should be enough. If you are baking, lining with foil will work.
  2. Don't know if this will help, my assistant's grandson has suffered with a variety of rashes over his body all of his young life. They've had him everywhere including Riley's Childrens Hospital and no relief. Recently they took his little brother off all red dye for behaviour issues and found out this child's skin cleared up also. No red dye any more!!...
  3. Did I understand you correctly, you were gluten-free when you were tested? That can throw a monkey wrench into your results. You are right, you must be eating gluten for further testing. But tests or no, you are not a freak. You are gluten intolerent or have celiac disease. Your body already told you that through dietary response. Now you will...
  4. Welcome and I'm sorry you are feeling so crappy. Hang in there for your testing. I think I would call the GI office every day and ask if they have any cancellations so you could move the time of your test up.
  5. Not only that but you sound like you and your mom are very low on magnesium. Taking the proper amounts of mag. should help the restless muscles, heart palps, insomnia and some of the anxiety. You can start taking that immediately. For the rest, I agree that you should have a full celiac panel done right away.
  6. If you list the full test results with the paramaters for that lab, someone here can help you with the results. You do need to be eating gluten to have the endoscopy be accurate. I guess I'm a little confused about what you want. The first part of your story made it sound like you were happy with the results of the diet. Then you seemed very unhappy...
  7. Thank you for sharing your insperational story! My husband works with mentally handicapped some of whom have Down's. Because of my diet he knows exactly what to do for them. It's such good knowledge to have that your child had no symptoms and still was positive for celiac disease. It justifies the testing for family members. I get no response when I...
  8. Seems to me that allowing an organ to heal then ripping it apart again cannot be good in the long run for you health. You may not have symptoms now but by the time you're injured enough to go back to the diet, the results could be much worse. Not just the little symptoms you had but something much more serious. You have to decide this for yourself but...
  9. Congratulations on improving your health. Isn't it strange, wonderful, all the changes with going gluten-free? All that stuff that we thought was normal or were told , "well, you are getting older" by dr's, dentists, and family. I love it that I feel 30 years younger and I'm learning every day how to improve upon it.
  10. The problem was she did bring her own food and still was glutened. I guess I would enclose my container in a large plastic bag while it was microwaved. Not to say if your a sensitive, you could be sick just from touching their surfaces. In-laws are tough. I have not had to deal with that situation yet. I would like to go back to Colombia for a...
  11. What makes you say that your problems are not definitively food related? Is it because you have already done an elimination diet? Those symptoms sure sound like they could be intolerances, especially since dr's have said they can find no big indicators. Maybe you don't believe the food is a problem. If it isn't food than doing an elimination...
  12. So, every time I start eating gluten free I get really bad stomach aches in the first week or two. Is this due to a drastic change in diet? I'm no expert but I would guess you are going through witthdrawals every time you start and stop like that. And there is an easy solution....don't eat gluten ever again so you never have stomach aches from it...
  13. Wednesday will be ONE MONTH since I last ate Gluten!!!! I am so proud of myself..I never thought Id be able to do this. I lost 10 pounds too Yesterday was my first Holiday experience without Gluten...and it was hard, but okay! Super!! I'm so happy you lost weight doing it too!!
  14. Hey, Hoosier! I would recommend that the bakery manager talk to the manager at Uno Pizza in Indianapolis. They added gluten-free pizza to their menu a couple of months ago. GlutenFRee Indy has been buzzing about it. They understand how to run the kitchen to avoid CC. They also talk each customer that orders gluten-free pizza through their system so...
  15. Welcome to the Forum. I'm glad that you have a firm diagnosis. It can seem overwhelming when you begin the gluten-free diet but soon it will be second nature to you. I believe it will be a big relief to you. I personally think that for about the first month, you should start with whole natural foods that you prepare yourself as you get accostumed...
  16. I also have to supplement calcium but I recently read more about mag. The calcium can't work without magnesium. Just make sure you are taking enough. I read the book "The Magnesium Miracle". It does talk about the relationship between the two. It will tell you how much to supplement for different conditions.
  17. I haven't heard of liver enzyme levels linked to an autoimmune response. How does this work and what should an individual look out for?
  18. If he is strictly off gluten now, it should slowly clear up. It does take a long time.
  19. It sounds like the kind of rash I get when I ingest gluten daily. I get it in the groin area, fun. Last spring it kicked up and I traced it to the caramel coloring in the coffee syrup I used. It should be safe if made in the US but I couldn't find out where this was made. When I stopped the syrup and switched to flavors from the same company but with...
  20. It makes sense to me that as your intestine heals it's reaction will also be some different. When you started to react back before you were sick enough to be dx'd, maybe it was like this.
  21. If you don't get any satisfaction from your dr, you could try a food journal with symptoms. It seems simplistic but it can really clarify a problem that isn't immediately obvious.
  22. You are right that mag. can loosen the stool. When you are increasing, you must spread the dosage out during the day and only increase slowly. The book advices to add a dose every two days at minimum. She also says that she personally uses part tablets and part mag. oil she applies after her shower. You can find out more about that on her website drcarolyndean...
  23. Many of us can relate to that frustration.
  24. You are Not a freak. You are sick. People, dr's included, are judgemental. Gluten can cause all the symptoms you described. It might not be your only problem but your dietary response is dramatic. It is affecting you. Keep us posted. No one else might understand but we do.
