I think the poison and bug visualizations are excellant. I use poison ivy and say, "would you eat just a little bite of poison ivy?" You know those people who try to get you to poison yourself? I miss the convenience but not the food. I don't have regrets because I really do feel 20 years younger!!

ARCHIVED Worse Stomach Pain After Endoscopy
ang1e0251 replied to Konaa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Did you know that many people have negative test results with gluten sensitivity and celiac disease? If you're still having symptoms, then you may want to try an elimination diet to see how you feel. Cut out dairy and gluten and see how you feel. It's handy to keep a food/symptom journal to help you narrow down your reactions. It can help you with your... -

ARCHIVED Worse Stomach Pain After Endoscopy
ang1e0251 replied to Konaa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
tiredof tums, I was scared too but honestly the endoscopy was a piece of cake. I not only felt nothing, I blinked my eyes and asked the nurse would the dr be in soon. She said, "honey, he's been and gone. It's all over!" I had no pain or adverse affects afterwards. My daughter had one at age 14 and had the same reaction; no reaction. Last year... -
ARCHIVED Does Dh Itch More After A Shower?
ang1e0251 replied to desccc's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
For heat made it itch more so after a shower I always put on the anti itch cream. Of course I didn't know what it was then. -
My mom wants to take DH for his 50th next week to Red Lobster. I told her I was sure I could find something to eat. Anyone been there recently and can gove me suggestions?

ARCHIVED Just Curious! But What Do You Eat For Breakfast?
ang1e0251 replied to TiredofTums's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm pretty boring so I have the same breakfast nearly every morning; eggs and toast. I don't have the gluten-free bread, I finally made a decent one but it's kind of rocklike to digest. So I went back to my corn tortillas. Too dry and flavorless for you? That's why I double toast them then treat them like bread. I butter, mayonnaise, peanut butter... -
ARCHIVED What's With Coffee
ang1e0251 replied to imhungry's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I recently stopped coffee because it was causing my tongue to tremor. Now I only have that reaction when my adrenalin is up, still it's not nearly as strong or long lasting as with coffee. Now I just have tea. -
ARCHIVED Barley Grass And Wheat Grass
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
An argument can be made for its safety as well as the chance of cross contamination. Sounds like Russion Roulette to me. -
ARCHIVED Safe Edible Trim For An Outdoor Xmas Tree
ang1e0251 replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I also did that with my children and niece when they were young. We changed our recipe one year when we read how much birds need extra fat in the winter to withstand the cold. That's why some put out suet for them. We melted shortening and stirred in the peanut butter and seed, then frosted the pine cones and hung them with bright colored yarn. Birds... -

ARCHIVED Picky Eater Who Has Celiac Age 11 Just Found Out
ang1e0251 replied to Charron's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A year ago when I started the gluten-free diet, my husband had been laid off and his unemployment had just run out. Not only couldn't I afford to be tested, there was no way I could afford any specialty foods. I just ate very simply and, you know, now that my situation is better I still buy few of those items. They're expensive, a lot taste like cardboard... -
I remember seeing a news story about reporters who went into a war zone. They were stationed in a hotel but of course traveled a lot and the hotel was only semisafe anyway. I think you need to think of yourself as being in a celiac "warzone". These reporters packed an entire suitase with canned meats like tuna, beef and chicken that they could eat when...

ARCHIVED Help With My 8 Year Old!
ang1e0251 replied to Rosie's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I didn't see you say anything about milk. Many of us cannot tolerate dairy especially in the beginning. The damaged villi are missing their tips which is where latose is processed. Some can tolerate it later or some can only tolerate certain things. I am one of those. I can have butter and cheese but not fresh milk, sour cream, or ice cream. The pain... -
ARCHIVED How Long Til I Feel Better?
ang1e0251 replied to swbailey's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with the previous posters. I am a year gluten-free and I'm still learning so much. I'll tell you when I get sick now, like a cold, it kicks my butt. Fatigue is the worst side affect of that. I really found a lot of relief when I started to take the sublingual B12 that was reccomended here. Today I forgot to take it and now that it's late in... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be Celiac?
ang1e0251 replied to rf2020's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You said negative on celiac. What test did you have? Did you have a complete panel? Even so the blood tests often show negative. I think your idea of a trial gluten-free diet is a good one. I say go for it. I would reccomend keeping a food/symptom journal while you do. That can be very helpful to help you match up reactions with foods, etc. You may... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter's Symptoms. What Do You Think?
ang1e0251 replied to rlbcabjm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just wanted to add that if your dr had been familier with celiac, he wouldn't have mentioned a colonoscopy as an endoscopy of the small intestine is the test for it. I'm glad you've found a better dr and you are so on top of her care. -
ARCHIVED Pasta Recipe Any Good?
ang1e0251 replied to songstressc's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I made egg noodles. I love Amish style, thick, chewy egg noodles. My Mom made an angelfood cake and gave me yolks so I took the recipe I found & went for it. They were delicious!! I rolled the dough between sheets of waxed paper. Then i sliced them into strips with my pizza cutter. I put the whole sheet in the freezer till stiff. I broke... -
ARCHIVED Dying For Pizza....
ang1e0251 replied to swbailey's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Look for Hormel Naturals, I found the pepperoni in Walmart. With sausage I found that I like best just buying the ground pork with no added anything. Then I add my own spices. I know what's in it that way. After that just go for any other gluten-free toppings you love!! Love that PIZZA!! -

ARCHIVED Positive Ttg - Can It Be An Indication Of Something Else?
ang1e0251 replied to sazzie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The reason some of us choose to go gluten-free instead of testing is the delay in testing. This person is saying it could be months for her to be tested. In the US you may have to wait a couple of months or you could be lucky and get in sooner. That's a very long time to eat gluten and continue the damage it brings. The individual must make their own... -
I agree with other posters who have pointed out that if you couldn't eat pork for religious reasons, your company would not give you a hard time about it. Religious reasons carry a lot of weight. Also if you were diabetic they would fall all over themselves to accomodate you. I think the Americans with Disabilities kicks in there. That being said...
