ARCHIVED Still Not Diagnosed But Confused About Diet
ang1e0251 replied to needtobebetter's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I'm kind of lost too. My skin improved off gluten, acne, rashes, color. The thyroid problem jumps out for me. Hope they will test you more thoroughly for that. -
ARCHIVED I Had My Endoscopy Yesterday
ang1e0251 replied to cat3883's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so glad you had very clear cut test results. Many people have wishy washy results which leaves them doubting their dx or lack thereof. You'll feel better and better as time goes on. Ask any and all questions here as we have been through it or know someone who has. We will listen and be as helpfull as possible. Welcome to the gluten free life... -
ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
That's so cool for you. I really miss seeing my daughter that way. She's in her final year of college and she's a cool young lady. I enjoy her as an adult now in a whole new way, I thought we'd really grow apart when she left home but I think we're just as close. We talk by phone everyday. I love it. Well, had a reality check today. My assistant... -

ARCHIVED So Worried About My Husband
ang1e0251 replied to Mandy1020's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Great advice. I also agree w/very simple foods for awhile and please no milk or lactose at all. Spices especially blends and packages are notorious for having hidden gluten. The tests will never show positive if he's not eating gluten. Each person has different times of recovery from a glutening. Sometimes I'm better w/in 24 hours sometimes it's... -
ARCHIVED Thanksgiving Update And Families
ang1e0251 replied to torontosue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Do you think your relatives would be willing to come on this forum and read some of the threads? There are plenty in the section that is for relatives of celiacs. It could help them put it into perspective. Plus reading all of our rants about being made sick by tiny amounts of gluten might bring it home to them how your really feel. -
Naturally our gluten-free island must have music and books and television; these will all sing the praises of the gluten-free lifestyle! Now that our pity party is done, you cannot expect someone without the disease to understand it's serious symptoms. I can hardly understand it all. It's like you trying to truly understand a migraine if you've...

Welcome, Jim. I am 50 years old and can relate. I'm coming into my first year anniversery gluten-free. I found dramatic improvements very quickly on the gluten-free diet. Some symptoms tooks weeks/months to clear up, though. It will keep getting better and better. I noticed my bad days were my own fault, being too lazy to read a label, assuming that...

ARCHIVED I Am Very Confused About Celaic Disease In General.
ang1e0251 replied to pandaman's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
IMO, Pandaman, it sounds like you may be eating hidden gluten to have those symtoms. Or you could also be lactose intolerant, many celiacs are. Your gut is going to follow if you discover all your food sensitivities, that's not to say you may have other problems but by your own admision, you are showing dramatic improvement on a gluten-free diet. Try... -
You are AWESOME! You wanted it but resisted it for your own wellbeing. You deserse a little pity party! It's a breakthrough moment when you resist & whenever you are tempted again, you can remember that moment and know if you did it then, you can do it again. I agreee with the advise of take your own goodie. When I have Death by Chocolate, everyone...

ARCHIVED Glutened-how Do You All Function?
ang1e0251 replied to alephknot's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, noucha, why are you still reacting so strongly after this period of time? Are you eating hidden gluten or maybe you have some other food sensitivities? I can't have milk either. There are plenty of people posting to the forum with multiple food issues. Do you know what you're reacting to? I really feel for you. I'm so sorry you have to go through... -
ARCHIVED Just Sharing Some Good News
ang1e0251 replied to ShayFL's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's great news, Shay! I'm so happy for you. Isn't it great when your Mom get it? My Mom struggled for years w/my lactose intolerance but she is on board this time. She likes to bring me Chinese that she grilled the cook about. I'm proud of her. It's good to have family support. I think mine comes from my dad's side of the family. I'm waiting for... -
ARCHIVED A New Weight Loss Support/accountability Thread
ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It's so exciting when they are on varsity! I couldn't have been prouder. DH coached our daughter through too & it was great experience for both of them. We did have to have a talk though, "when you're on the field, he is your coach, at home he's your Dad. We don't bring home issues onto the field." That was for both their benefits. An arepa... -
I can relate. Was glutened this weekend at a wedding & Sunday I was eating everything in sight! I just let myself go though, I saw it for what it was & knew I just had to "eat" my way out. Water, tea, and B12 did ease the symptoms quite a bit. If you keep a food and reaction diary, look back & read about days when you felt well for inspiration...

Welcome, new members! I'm so glad you're feeling better! Isn't it a great feeling to feel good and finally free of all the "stuff"!! Thanks for sharing those good vibrations.

ARCHIVED Glutened-how Do You All Function?
ang1e0251 replied to alephknot's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree that you have to become a strict advocate for your own health. Carry your own safe food & don't let anyone sway you. I was slightly glutened at a wedding this weekend. I forgot how much I hate that person I used to be. THe sublingual methyl type B12 helps me through a lot. Eating what I needed, extra food, and rest kicked the rest of the... -

ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Welcome, Maryruth. Those last pounds are stubborn & just as stubborn to keep off. I don't think I've ever kept them off long term. It is very important for you though. My DH has had 2 back surgeries and any weight gain is painfull for him. I'll bet the water feels good for your therapy. He used to walk in the pool. Feeling much better today... -
ARCHIVED Once Again Asking About Dh . . .
ang1e0251 replied to still tiredofdoctors's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
on another thread, someone said her DH broke out on her hand after eating chips in CC frying oil. SHe said she was still sitting at the restaurant at the time of the meal! I believe you! Mine also looks like chicken pox. I stopped using shampoo years ago because my scalp always developed sores. I didn't know about celiacs then. -
ARCHIVED Cooking Question
ang1e0251 replied to ppatin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think you are AWESOME to make the effort to come to this forum to make sure her health is secure. So many of us have friends as well as family who don't care enough to do the same. You've received a lot of great information here. Have great dinners togethers and keep her healthy in spite of herself! -
ARCHIVED Concerned About Uncle
ang1e0251 replied to nikky's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We care but we are not the food police. Adults must make their own decisions just as you make your life choices. I think once you give the information & offered your support, then it's time to love your uncle. Stand by him and when he's ready or has a "light bulb" moment, he will come to you. You're a good person to look out for him with such concern... -

ARCHIVED How To Tell An Itallian Guy "drop Half Your Culture"
ang1e0251 replied to raen's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm not Italian but I don't really think that is his problem. He just doesn't want to eat that way! He can't tell you this any more plainly than he is. He doesn't want to, he's not ready to, and he doesn't think he needs to. So your choice is simply to let him choose his own way, he is an adult, or keep nagging him & make both of you miserable. Your... -

Good job on walking extra to & from work! This weekend was a merry go round of food!. DD came home to leave her dog with us while she travels to a conference in CN. She asked for a home-cooked meal so. Friday night we had Barbie Guts Soup, arepas w/cream cheese, pork chops & rice, apple and peanut butter spread. Saturday I had 2 eggs... -

ang1e0251 replied to lonewolf's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Well, just a quick note; today is payroll & finish my wedding work. Last night pizza, cup of chicken broth, tea, candy corn & peanuts in the afternoon I had a Sprite This morning, eggs, coffee w/soy milk, tortillas w/butter. Didn't bring lunch so I'll order chicken & beef nachos, no sour cream. Tonight DD is coming... -
ARCHIVED Torani Pumpkin Flavor Contains Gluten?
ang1e0251 replied to Pyro's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You know I react to any Stasero syrups with caramel coloring. They swear no gluten but I react nonetheless and have given them up. Kind of hard to track darn the culprit when there is no specific ingredient.
