  1. I'm all for a self diagnosis, but if you think you want to have a formal diagnosis, you need to keep eating gluten. You said you were blood work was negative for a bunch of other tests, but it wasn't clear to me if you had ever been tested for celiac via blood tests. If you want that done, you need to be eating gluten regularly for 6 weeks. With that said...
  2. I tried for 3 months to do the segregated kitchen. Hubby had to do all the gluten food prep if he wanted it. We finally went on a 2 month gluten free household experiment. It was at that point that I could figure out what mistakes I was making to accidentally gluten myself and not what my husband was doing to accidentally poison me. He learned to eat my food...
  3. I had a hard time with multivitamins upsetting my stomach until I found chewables. BellyBar makes Gluten Free prenatal vitamins that are fine for taking even if you are not pregnant. I actually like the idea of slightly higher vitamin levels because of our malabsorption problems. I've been able to find them at Walgreens and BabiesRUs. They were with the children...
  4. Hurray! Wishing you minimal morning sickness and a big bossom
  5. I found this from the Mayo clinic. It appears to be for physicians or doctors to use to help decide which tests should be ordered. You will need to download the PDF. Open Original Shared Link
  6. If you contine to get resistance from her Dr., take her to a specialist. Also, I prefer to work with my doctors and have never actually said this, but I keep in my the back of my mind the phrase "will you make a note in my chart that I requested these specific tests/referral and that you refused." I really think that being as educated, organized, and specific...
  7. Another consideration for why HE might want to have the endo done now is that if there is any question in his mind, that he might want it done later, he is probably insured with you right now and may not be insured at all in a few years. Have him do a little online research about the scope. I was nervous, but as another poster said, it really was like a dream...
  8. Mention your concerns to your doctor about lymphoma and thyroid. I beleive a CBC (standard blood test) screens for lymphoma when it looks at your white blood count. Ask to have all your vitamins tested. I had a doctor say to me one time that she couldn't order the test for all the vitamins because it wasn't on her order form. I would need to see the nutritionist...
  9. I'm wondering if you got CC'ed from something in the latte. I would suspect that for a drunken feeling before dairy. Stick clear of the gluten for a few weeks againk, then retest dairy with a little cheese on a salad or a bit of cream in the coffee. If that goes well, then try some yogurt or ice cream. I'm sorry you are feeling so badly. I have no advice...
  10. I'm not chugging vanilla I had a small splash in my warm milk while we were watching TV. I really do mean a splash. (1/4 tsp?) I make warm soy milk with a bit of sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. I didn't add the vanilla until after the microwave. I am pretty sensitive to alcohol though. Would adding it before putting it in the microwave "cook off" the alcohol...
  11. My reactions to gluten have been weaker and weaker since going gluten free. Night terrors, pain and migraine are the worst of the symptoms and the night terrors only happen when I've been glutened. I think. I woke up screaming again last night, so I'm sorting through what I ate. For the past 2 days I've eaten lots of familiar foods but a few things...
  12. If those painkillers are narcotic (like vicoden), they can cause constipation. I too find that the faster the "meal" has exited my body, the faster I can start recovering. Over the counter pain killers don't cause constipation though, so I'm all for that. I also like Benadryl or Tylenol PM (same ingredients). It helps me physically feel better and sleep through...
  13. A friend just posted a link to this website. If you can handle dairy, it looks like a way to add some variety to the routine. They advertise weekly menus with a grocery list that they claim will keep the bill down. The recipies look good and my friend is using the one of the regular menu plans for with her family. They do charge a weekly fee, but it was small...
  14. Yup. My google search says no flaxseed oil for sure and possibly no flax seed. The reputable sites I went to said flax seed oil can cause preterm labor. I couldn't find the study they quoted, but they said it quadrupled the preterm labor rate. I did find one rat study that said the estrogen increasing effects caused increased tumors in offspring. All of the...
  15. I'm happily married, but this reminded me of a comment someone made. I was out to lunch with a friend at a GIG restaurant at 11:00 am to avoid the rush. I told the waitress I would need to order off the gluten free menu and she went into an offensive rant about a man with celiac she went out with a few times. She literally said "Who would want to date someone...
  16. I've been wondering where you were. Welcome back. I'm sorry your body is giving you trouble. I hope you get it figured out. Best wishes, SGW
  17. Could be gluten, could be a mini stroke. See the doc asap to rule out the mini stroke. The ER would be the place for that really. They may not be able to figure anything out, but TIA's can be a warning sign of an impending stroke. Yeah, it's probably the gluten, but why mess around with the brain. They don't heal like a muscle strain.
  18. Not all the Progresso soups are gluten free. Just some of them. There are grocery guides you can buy to help navigate the grocery store. I often wish I would have purchased one. Tai Kitchen has rice noodles in a red box in the asian food section. I like their noodles best. Ragu has lots of gluten free sauces, but not all. Ragu is produced by Unilever. Unilever...
  19. SickChick needs to post her sesame cookie recipe! I bet a little girl could eat a few of those every now and again. I'm thinking they are probably better for me than the brownies sitting in my pantry.
  20. I bumped into this article on Medscape today about prenatal Vitamin D levels and risk of schizophrenia. Since we already know that the Celiac rate is very high in individuals with schizophrenia, I guess I'll be better with my D drops. Open Original Shared Link
  21. I make sure I tell everyone that hints at it being a fad diet that I gained 20 lbs when I went gluten free. That usually makes them stop and ask the question about how a "diet" made me gain weight and I give a 4 sentence description of damage, malabsorption, and vitamin deficiencies and the reason it gets a reputation as a "miracle diet." I can see thoughtful...
  22. What kind of noodles do you put in your creamy chicken noodle. The only time I tried to freeze gluten-free noodles in a soup, it thawed like mush. I hope baby does not have a problem with soy. I LIVE off it. That is my one serious comfort food. The assembly line recipies are an interesting idea. I really like that for everyday cooking too. The meat...
  23. Oooh! There's chocolate
  24. Hubby had his first Udi's last week too and loved it. I'm mildly allergic to eggs, so while I'm preggers, I'm staying away, but I can't wait to try a PBJ! Can you get Udi's shipped to Canada? It might be more cost effective than the drive.
  25. OK, I'll start with I'm bored! I just moved to a new state and have not started work yet. I need a purpose. I realize it is way early to worry about what to put in the freezer for after the baby is born, but I'm bored with a capital B. This is my first baby, so I don't know what they do or don't like the taste of in breast milk. I've heard spicy foods...
