  1. Redbridge, and greens are good gluten-free beers. If you add a little water to the Redbridge, it tastes like Bud Light.
  2. If you can do dairy, I've discovered that if you add a little (1/2 C to a cup) of warm mozzarella to the batter, the bread doesn't crumble as much and the taste seems better. I've added it to Gluten Free Pantry Favorite Sandwich mix and the loaf turned out great. I also just opened my door to the UPS guy and found the Bristol Buns on my porch. Ripped...
  3. love that site and this site: Open Original Shared Link The pizza crust with cream cheese was truly tasty.
  4. Have you tried the new coconut kefir? The strawberry is decent--the vanilla needed something. Is it the casein in the milk that gives you problems or just lactose? I can still drink milk based Kefir and eat yogurt. The proteins are broken up in the process of making it. The envirokidz barz are good. Nuts OJ
  5. I know there are a lot of people out there who disagree, but we love McD's now. We get the Angus burger w/o the bun and, yes, french fries. We've never gotten glutened in the past year from them at all. And there are McD's everywhere. The finer dining establishments are more helpful. And Mexican places are good, too. And it's too late for this trip...
  6. We just discovered that one of our favorite pre gluten-free restaurants really goes the extra mile and does gluten-free! Potatoes deep fried in their own frier. Calamari appetizer roasted with peppers and onions. The best steak salads that I've had in ages. My husband's rib-eye made the Outbacks looked like chopped burger. The waitress told us that...
  7. Yumm---those muffins looks much easier than a pumpkin roll--thanks!
  8. Thanks for the recipe--looks quick and easy. For frying veggies, I use rice flour with a little s & p. Before being gluten-free, we would eat a ton of these tasty delights and always get sick--always blamed it on the oil. Little did we know. Now we can eat a ton and not get sick and the tomatoes turn out nice and crisp.
  9. My DS14 gets really out of control, we have holes in the walls to prove it. I have broken many plates and always said my DH was a saint for putting up with me for the last 19 yrs. You guys made me laugh thinking about our last New Year's Eve. We were in Universal, Orlando and my son had previously been glutened and was a real grump. I ended up getting...
  10. Have you limited his sulfites/sulfates? Those can cause problems, too. Also, I have a 14 yr. old boy--and well, at that age, they are just loud and talkative. But we have limited his sulfites/sulfates becuase we noticed he has similar neuro problems with those as he did with gluten. And this year, his report card has all A's (this is the year right...
  11. I found this cheese, queso de frier, in the "Mexican" section at my local Wal-mart. I've been craving something greasy and thought, "Why not?" I just sliced off a chunk and put it in a pan with a little butter and within a few minutes the cheese was a golden brown without flour. Pretty tasty and satisfied my cravings for some carnival-type food.
  12. I don't know where I found this recipe, but I'm resharing it. I couldn't find my print copy of this and ended up making some real duds found elsewhere on the internet. This is the easiest and most delicious by far. 4 C. tapioca flour 1 2/2 C. grated parmesan cheese 2 C. milk 2/3 C. vegetable oil 2 eggs beaten 1/4 t. Xantham gum 1/2 t....
  13. Try the Rustic Crust pizza shells--pretty good
  14. glad you had great success. reading the posts reminds me that even though you are holding the gluten-free menu, you've eaten there a dozen times in the past year, and the waiter, who had just examined your menu because it was different, does not necessarily know what you're talking about. The waiter brought our salads loaded with croutons--and I was scared...
  15. My DD was in a cross country meet sponsored by the local chick-fil-a. I had gone online and thought, oh, we'll get salad and was just starting to put the little sunflower seeds on it and saw the wheat. I kept saying, "Why? Why? Why do they need to put wheat in there?" And don't just order a chicken breast sandwich w/o the bun. It comes just like...
  16. thanks so much for your post--I'm going with my DD's orchestra in February and will try to hit some of your suggestions. Oh, and one waitress told me that whey was wheat and not gluten free.... A waiter at Greg Norman's in Myrtle Beach, who would NOT get the chef for me because he knew all about gluten, insisted that the risotto had wheat in it because...
  17. it could also be the milk. Sometimes, because the "genetic code" is similar for wheat and cow's milk, when you eliminate one you also, at 1st, need to eliminate the other. It's been a whole year since being gluten-free, and I still can't drink a glass of milk or have ice cream w/o dire consequences. I can now have it in things like bread, but not a glass...
  18. When you have 4 in the family that need to be gluten-free, there is a lot of baking and cooking going on. Sometimes it's just plain nice to buy something already made. I'm just getting tired of baking--I'm a cook. It's always been a lifetime motto for me that you can be either a good cook or a good baker, but not both. I say this as I'm baking...
  19. eeks--I was thinking about buying these awhile ago--so glad I didn't. Thanks for posting this info.
  20. put mary kay in the top of this page in the search section and there a few threads about mk the powder foundation & liquid is safe as far as gluten is concerned--parabens--a whole other story.
  21. one more thing: I just found one crust that I had tossed in the fridge and forgot about. I took it out, tore it up in little bite size pieces, and nuked for 30 seconds. And it made a perfect tasting dipping pita bread. Would make a perfect accompaniment for spinach dip or other soft cheese dips. Very yummy. Very pleased.
  22. I just saw your post about Mary Kay, I am still a rep, but have been considering quitting for the past year due to their stance on wheat in their products. Before realizing I needed to be gluten-free, I would have problems with some of their products, quit using it, then bring it back out, try again and same problems. When I had to call the company...
  23. My son, who is a smell freak, (the teen who I never could take into a beauty salon because it stinks, I can't wear perfume, spray febreeze, etc. Like I said, "freak"), uses giovanni--you can buy it at Target and if you are close to a TJMaxx they have huge bottles for about $12 that last forever. I seriously don't know he can stand to go into Abercrombie...
  24. but some of their eyeshadows are not paraben free and from what I've read about parabens (environmental link to hormonal changes and cancer to name a few). It's been one month and my daughter is still whining about the green shadow that I wouldn't let her buy.
