  1. My son's NP called in a Rx for Augmentin liquid for his sinus infection. The pharmacy was great in contacting the manufacturer for me about it's gluten free status. This is what the manufacturer said (it is a generic company) "one or more of the ingredients could be derived from wheat, but the end product should be gluten free." Would any of you chance...
  2. Try not to obsess over it they are the ones being jerks. Ignore them.
  3. From what I can gather Marmite is made from brewers yeast and is not safe for celiacs. Am I right?? Open Original Shared Link
  4. My vote is the oats. I had to quit eating all Bob's products because of the cc from the gluten free oats to the other products.

    ARCHIVED Frustration

My youngest has been gluten free since 11/19. NP feels likely celiac but won't officially diagnose him. He wrote a note for school "suspected celiac pending GI consult." I believe he is very early and felt he might have an inconclusive biopsy so opted to put him on the diet. I think hubby is just trying to mentally come to terms with it. He has only...

    ARCHIVED Frustration

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I think you are right about not wanting their child to have a problem and feel "different." I couldn't have said it better. I guess since I am diagnosed I look at it differently. As for my little boy, I found out why he doesn't want to eat. He has another bad sinus infection and he vomited on Sat and again last...
  7. If they were dusted with wheat flour it would have to be declared on the package. However they still could have cc from production.

    ARCHIVED Frustration

I am getting a little frustrated. I am getting a lot of resistance since I put my youngest son gluten free on 11/19. My husband is on board with the three month trial, but is starting to show some frustration. I'll agree that it is a little more challenging for my little man than me especially since he wants things that I just don't eat. So I find myself...
  9. This very subject has come up a lot for me lately since I put my son gluten free. My husband and some of my coworkers feel that if you eliminate something long enough, that when you eat it again, anyone would have problems. When food was only available during particular seasons, did everyone start reacting the next season when people started consuming it...
  10. My doctor wanted to do both the EGD and colonoscopy in the same day and I was only 35. I decided I didn't want both done all at once and had the colonoscopy 2 months later.
  11. We buy the On The Border Tortilla chips. The bags we have been buying say gluten free on them. Here is a link also and you can find information in the FAQ'S area. Open Original Shared Link
  12. My bet is that the doctor can put in the lab orders via computer to the lab. I would say they are ordering just blood tests. For the scope fasting is a requirement and I doubt they would put you in for a scope without telling you ahead of time to prepare. I would fast just in case the doctor put in lab tests that require that. Take a snack with you for...
  13. I'm with the others, take and eat only your own food. This last trip to my inlaws that is what I did and there wasn't any hurt feelings. I did end up miserable, but it wasn't food, it was from my medication. She made the comment "I'm glad I didn't make you sick.". This was meant in good humor, but at least she know's that even some things are out of my...
  14. Don't know about the cc risk but anything is possible. Is she washing her hands well especially after handling that? Could she be eating something you don't know about?
  15. I found that I had the same problem. I switched to a buckwheat/brown rice flour pancake. Here is the link to the recipe: Open Original Shared Link I have never added xanthan or quar gum. However lately, the family wants a different taste. I plan on trying the Betty Crocker recipe for the gluten free Bisquik. I have made the waffles and we all love...
  16. Yes your child's tests can be negative and then be positive down the road. My youngest son was screened after I was diagnosed two years ago and was negative. He was retested last month and had a positive test. He has been gluten free now for two weeks. My son's NP at the allergists office wrote a note and signed a paper for school about us doing a trial...
  17. I seem to tolerate these fine.
  18. Anyone know of any?
  19. I'm going to have my oldest son retested again and wanted some imput. I talked to the lab where I work and their reference lab can perform the TTG, gliadin antibodies and the deaminated gliadin antibodies. The EMA is not available. So, when I call the docs office to have them order the tests should all of those be ordered or will the deaminated gliadin...
  20. I don't like Bob's Red Mill gluten free all purpose baking flour at all. It has bean flours mixed in and some people do not like the smell and flavor bean flours impart. It is also possible the flour was rancid. I'd say it was the flour.
  21. There is a oreo type cookie called k-toos by kinninick. I have to not only have gluten free snacks for my youngest son but they have to be peanut/nut free since there are kids in his class with nut allergies. These are a few things I put in his snack box: Craisens (in individual packages), snack size orville redenbachers microwave popcorn, fruit cups in...
  22. From my understanding there are a lot of false negatives with these not false postitives. When you have the endoscopy make sure he takes at least 6 samples from different areas in the first part of the small bowel. Damage can be pachy. My GI I see knows alot about celiac but I did get conflicting information from him too. When I went for my first followup...
  23. Kraft and campfire marshmallows are gluten free.
  24. Glad to hear your son is doing better. My almost 6 year old had the IgA TTG come back positive. It was negative 2 years ago. I put him gluten free and it will be two weeks on Friday. At first he was more irritable than usual and he had a major hunger spike for the first week. I think the hunger thing is slowing a bit, but I am trying to make sure he...
