  1. I took one yesterday and didn't even give it thought to check if the mucinex D was gluten free. I did not have any problems with it at all.
  2. I know for a fact I react badly to barley. I mistakenly ate some candy bars last halloween and wondered why I felt bad. To my discovery, they had barley malt in it. I believe that most of my glutenings have come from barley. I do react badly to gluten free oats also, and I shudder at the thought of how I would feel if I accidently got into wheat.
  3. I forgot to mention that I reacted badly the first time I ate gluten free oats approximately 7 months after going gluten free. That reaction was enough for me to never want to try them again. I was in so much pain I laid in a fetal position for a whole evening and then was constipated for 5 days. It was not pleasant. I'm jelous of those who can eat them...
  4. You got great advice from the others. Why not ask the specialist to run the celiac blood tests if you are wanting to go that route?
  5. Gluten is the term that they tell us as a celiac patient to avoid as in wheat, rye, and barley. The scientific term for "true" gluten is the storage protein found in all grains. There is a specific one for each grain. Hordein--barley, gliadin/glutenin--wheat, and secalin--rye are the ones that are harmful if you have celiac or gluten intolerence. Mainstream...
  6. My gi doc told me that too, but I insisted on another tTg. It went down from 78 (I think) to 10 after 6 months gluten free. It is now down to 6. My AGA and AGG are still slightly elevated so I had to look at possible contamination. The doctor is wrong!! Theoretically, if you are not exposed to gluten you shouldn't have antibodies.
  7. I eat kind bars, boomi bars and Ruth's power flax bars. My oldest son likes them too!
  8. My 9 year old is pretty bright. I noticed things about him at a very young age. We have been having behavior issues out of him in the past few months at school. I notice that he has careless mistakes on his work, but when it comes to tests and something harder he does great. He does not want to stay in his seat and interupts in class. I know he is not...
  9. I can relate. My brother refuses to get tested. He was diagnosed with sarcoidosis back in 1992 and since then he keeps a horrible escema rash on his face and legs. He suffers from lactose intolerence and gi symptoms. He sees that I am doing well, but refuses to believe that he probably has it too. He told me he would rather die than give up the foods...
  10. I made it 3 times this week so not too shabby, but wanted it to be at least 4. I'll get it next week.
  11. Please forgive me if I sound stupid. I got to looking at the original amounts in the recipe. Is this just enough to make the small roll/bun/biscuit? If so that could explain why the dough did not do much in the loaf pan.
  12. I'm not saying that you might not have other intolerences, but for a more simplified answer you could be just having "gas" because you have been eating more fiber rich foods. If I sat and ate a bunch of beans I definately would get gassy and I'm not sensitive. Add more fiber in gradually so your body can get used to it. It could just be your body reacting...
  13. The best way is to contact the manufacturer and ask if they are gluten free and I call the pharmacy every time before I refill my prescription to make sure they have not changed brands (generic) on me. What meds do you take? Maybesomenone here has experience with it.
  14. Have your ferritin checked. My hair fell out when it was low. I also lost alot of hair postpartum due to excess thyroid hormone. When my meds were adjested it slowed down. The interesting thing for me was that after both of my pregnancies, my hair was falling out. When I got new hair growth my hair got more curly after each kid. Hormones are crazy things...
  15. I've had no problem with the regular and fruit flavored tums. Here is their statement from their website: Open Original Shared Link I was able to exercise last night for about 45 min. I added in some abdominal exercises and I feel it.
  16. I ate some last year that were labled like this and did fine. I Had some marshmallow peeps today!
  17. While I don't have an asian store, we do have two Mennonite stores that sell bulk items and several gluten free flours being part of the selection. I would love to buy in bulk because it is so much cheeper. I have asked the owners and while the flours are originally purchaced in 25# bags, they break it down further. They also do this with wheat and other...
  18. I like larabars allright, but I prefer Kind Bars, Boomi Bars, and my new find Ruth's Flaxpower CranNut bar. I have to fight my 9 year old over the flax bar.

    ARCHIVED Bloating...

    Gas-x usually works for me.
  20. If I get minor gerd symptoms I just eat a few tums and eat very bland. If it is really bad I take a previcid or zantac and it does the trick. The doctor gave me kapidex samples to try, and while they helped the gerd, it bloated me up like a toad and made me constipated. I had such bad gas pains I was hurting between my shoulder blades. April 6th I go...
  21. That is not tolerable behavior. As tarnalberry said, tell her that you got sick. Don't trust her or eat there again.
  22. This week was a bust for me. Tuesday night I started not feeling well and it has lasted until today. I know for a fact it's the gallbladder. I was able Mon. to start day 1 of my new 30 day challange and went for a 40 minute bike ride. I was so excited. Tuesday before supper I went on an intense 20 minute bike ride by myself. Sadly that was the last...
  23. I was 7 months gluten free when I tried Bobs Red Mill gluten free oats. I made cookies with them and I reacted after 30 minutes of eating them. I was not sure (highly suspicious though) so I ate some more cookies the next day, and bam it happened again. I have not tried them again since.
  24. I have a kitchen aid mixer too. I have had it for around 13 years and it still works great. I also bought a cuisenart (?sp) food processer around Christmas. I don't use it as much as the mixer, but wanted a good heavy motor so I could do bread crumbs, nut flours and some other stuff. I thought it would be good for liquid stuff, but find if it even gets...
  25. I'm in no way an accomplished gluten free bread maker. Just recently I have decided to try and make some using different recipes I find. I used the original posted recipe with a reduction in the water and I thew the dough away without baking it. It never did rise. My yeast was fine because I used it to make other bread and it raised nicely. I probably...
