  3. If your pain is not helped with morphine and things are still not moving with all traditional methods....go back to the doctor. I had severe abdominal pain that came on over a two day period when I had been gluten-free for about a year and a half. My assumption was I had been glutened - until the pain became unbearable - went to ER - docs scratched their...

    ARCHIVED Sciatica

I've been gluten-free for three and half years and grain free for over a year. While I still have many problems from long undiagnosed Celiac Disease - lower back pain/sciatica is completely gone. I'd been seeing a chiropractor followed by a sports chiropractor most of my adult life each time my lower back pain was severe. He believed this pain was caused...
  5. This is why many of us suggest giving the strict removal of gluten a good three month trial after testing is complete. I hope you receive clear testing results, but if not removing all gluten to monitor symptoms is the best next step to make sure your test results were accurate. Children generally improve very quickly when gluten is the cause of their...

  8. Nope...Trapper John was on duty before BJ - although I am a touch froggy today
  9. Positive DGP with obvious symptoms and a duck for a Mom - I'd say you've got a duckling with a great Mom! I was only weakly positive at 43 with total villous atrophy - my teen sons had different symptoms for years, but both tested negative upon my diagnosis. They were older so each removed gluten at different times and each has had symptom resolution...
  10. If you have removed gluten or even gone gluten light the tests will not be as accurate as possible. If you haven't removed gluten, but have symptoms - have the blood drawn and then remove ALL gluten - this is often the best test.
  11. Welcome! Do you know which celiac antibody tests were ordered? Did your doctor order nutrient testing? Celiac Disease prevents absorption of nutrients which can lead to all of the symptoms you list. Have you had any thyroid testing? Many doctors test only the pituitary hormone - thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). Request Free T3, Free T4 and...
  12. Earth Balance is the best tasting of the butter like substances - my daughter uses it so I always have some on hand for her and her kids. Unfortunately I can no longer use even the soy free version. I use coconut oil for everything that I used to use butter on/in and I always used butter. I even had coconut oil on my last piece of gluten-free bread...
  13. Wow a quad - high fives all around! 50% made me snort my nettle tea - unfortunately it is more sad than funny. Here's hoping we find a few more Hawkeyes and TJs rather than Frank Burns out there
  14. Welcome! Go ahead and eat as much glutenous bread and pizza as you want until all your celiac testing is complete. If gluten is a problem for you - you'll be better prepared to remove it once you've had proper testing and/or become more ill while consuming it. The tests become inaccurate when you remove gluten - so for now here is your "get out...
  15. LOL...I've suggested that a full digestive system transplant would be a wonderful idea one too many times...last time hubby said with my luck I'd end up with the Big D, rather than C
  16. If IgA deficient - I would include Total Serum IgG. I've never seen an endomysial IgG, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist -- maybe someone else can confirm.

  19. Not to worry -- the up side of Marsh Stage 3 is there is no doubt of the diagnosis - many struggle while healing as they question if removing gluten is really necessary. Remember - you have already started healing by removing gluten, so whatever the report says - you can and will heal
  20. Oh Goodness...do make sure you talk to your doctor once s/he returns.
  21. Tears, frustration and paranoia are all part of the transition - I would question the sanity of anyone that has to learn the skill of removing all gluten from their world, re-learn the skills of grocery shopping, cooking and safely dining outside their own homes without being a stressed, frustrated and yes - a bit paranoid. My first grocery missions...

  24. Nothing further to add - just had to highlight this gem Here's hoping everyone's problem foods are this polite - Cheers!
  25. Hi Kat- What your doctor is saying is accurate. Given your strong normal Total IgA the IgA results should be reliable. Have others had positive IgG results while being IgA negative - yes. We are all different. I do agree an endoscopy may provide far more important data for you. It's up to you if you'd like to push this doctor for more blood tests...
