tarnalberry -- no sleep study yet -- definitely see the correlation between sleep, exercise and improvement. Have seen info about Malic...going to read some more and try soon. Also looking at coq10 -- all the other supplements you were taking I'm already on. I think you said you were taking during the time your fibro was worse -- how long did you take...

Thanks Skye-N and sixtytwo...very interesting to hear stories fromothers with fibromyalgia. Savella Update: At one week I am still on the first dosage 12.5mg twice a day. Couldn't tolerate the 25mg twice a day due to extreme irritability. Am holding on this lower dosage until I see doctor next week. Don't think I'll be able to tolerate moving all the...

ARCHIVED Baking Time For Chocolate Brownie Or Cake Mixes
GottaSki replied to KipperCat's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've found the brownie mixes take longer to bake...with any new gluten-free product we usually start at the minimum time and work our way up...corn pasta seems to take a few minutes longer than the longest specified time. Favorite Chocolate Sinful Cake...It's my gluten-free son's 16th bday today, so I'm about to go frost one now. We make them semi-regularly... -
Thank you so much for sharing! Been difficult - after the joy of finally being diagnosed with Celiac - waiting for improvements that just didn't happen. I did have major improvements with gastro issues and am finally absorbing nutrients! Blood work has improved for B, D, K, Iron, Copper and Zinc. YET major fatigue, insomnia, fogginess, stiff, achy...

Was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia - Have had many symptoms that have not improved, in fact have gotten worse since going gluten-free with Celiac Diagnosis. I'm wondering if there are any other Celiac / Fibromyalgia's out there that are on Savella -- there is a lot of info regarding side effects during the first weeks of Savella -- I'm looking more...

Mccormick's Chili Powder ?
GottaSki replied to SGWhiskers's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Couldn't find anything on the "spices" McCormick's website, but here is another post about their chili powder. https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.php?showtopic=62283 and McCormick's is good about listing wheat...not sure about gluten. -
ARCHIVED Was Just Diagnosed...advice Needed
GottaSki replied to hazeleyez682's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Welcome! The good news is many, many things are gluten-free. We have successfully replaced or replicated all of our favorites. As mentioned simple is best (meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, rice, potatoes) until you get the hang of reading labels...which can be frustrating at first...but will become easier with time. Besides the many gluten-free... -

ARCHIVED Healing Time Poll
GottaSki posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Everyone has a different healing time. We've got several different ages in our family currently healing so I'm curious...how long did it take you? If you have more than one member in your family, feel free to answer for them too! Hope I set this poll up correctly -- Thanks! -
ARCHIVED Corn Vs. Rice Pasta
GottaSki replied to rvagirl's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
We use Ancient Harvest Quinoa Pasta for baked macaroni and cheese along with all their pastas...we've had better luck with these as they are a bit firmer - more regular pasta-like than all the rice pastas we've used. We purchase in packs of 12 boxes on Amazon with free shipping as it is a bit cheaper than our local markets. -
ARCHIVED When A Gluten Free Cake Goes...well...glutened
GottaSki replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I suppose it will be awhile before you'll try chocolate cake again... it is the favorite treat in our family since going gluten-free. We use Bob's Red Mill Chocolate Cake Mix and add a cup of choc chips to the batter. Frosting is 2 cups choc chips, 1 can sweetened condensed milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla (melt together in saucepan) - it's very smooth... -
ARCHIVED Testing
GottaSki replied to Brittany2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Negative blood work for Celiac can not rule out Celiac. Even endoscopic biopsy can be negative in a Celiac. Your dietary response seems the strongest reason to give strict gluten free a chance. If you have a positive response to gluten-free you can have gene testing done. Some doctors will diagnose if you have genes and positive dietary response.... -
Sounds like you are doing everything correctly. Is she old enough to wear make-up -- could it be lipstick/lip gloss or other personal care items? 9 weeks is still healing...maybe someone else can answer how quickly tTG should come down.

ARCHIVED Help Please, Please, On Biopsy Prep
GottaSki replied to Ivy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm not clear...was it your Doctor or only his nurse that made the statements about not having Celiac based on the biopsy performed on you while you are 3 years gluten-free? If it was only the nurse, ask to speak directly to the doctor. If it was the doctor, he knows nothing about celiac - my understanding is that a gluten challenge must be for at least... -

ARCHIVED Need Name Of Reliable Testing
GottaSki replied to ann72601's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Blood tests are the starting point, for which they need to go to their doctor. They need to let the doctor know they would like to be tested because of your diagnosis. If their doctor is unfamiliar with Celiac Disease they may need to explain that Celiac can cause damage before obvious symptoms. People may dismiss early symptoms because they can be... -

ARCHIVED Why Do I Do This To Myself?
GottaSki replied to loxleynew's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't be too hard on yourself...eating completely gluten-free is tough - especially the eating out part...I've had many cravings for gluten filled items, but resisted because I've been sick for so many years that the thought of becoming more sick scares me into keeping strictly gluten-free. When those nasty cravings are strong - try to remember how much... -

ARCHIVED Should I Wait?
GottaSki replied to chase1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My blood tests were barely positive (at 43 yr) for Celiac, but endo showed severe damage to villi and all the biopsy samples confirmed Celiac. My children (26, 15, 14) and grandson (2) have all tested negative on blood work, but all have various celiac symptoms...three have had positive response to diet (14 year old still eats gluten). Positive results...
