  1. lol --- at mee-self..I was in a hurry and clicked on the first page of the thread -- saw Sylvia and was doing a happy dance -- doh -- was the first page...long time since I fooled myself with that maneuver. Miss you S-Y-L-V-I-A! Dinner tonight is PIZZA -- for my family and the band -- turns out half of them have been having tummy aches - except when...
  2. Welcome HeartRN! Good news is you have been diagnosed when awareness is on the rise -- bad news is you have to be responsible for everything that goes in your mouth. More GOOD news -- it really does get easier, although the learning curve is tough. Make sure you read the "newbie 101" thread -- loads of good intel there. Everyone in this thread...
  3. Booze Cruise is just a nick name -- all ages and beverage types allowed/required? to join in the relaxing sunset cruises. PS...I don't think anyone is going to wrestle the wheelhouse away from my honey - except during the fishy trips...but those are in the wee hours of the morning while we are resting up for other fun activities.
  4. lol....thought my math looked fuzzy...was trying to count weeks from a teeny tiny calendar
  5. Was it a high humidity day? What temp? I have had that happen inside my house during the highest heat of the day. We get afternoon sun that raises the temp in our house by about 10 degrees and it kills me in the late summer/fall months.
  6. loads of sportfishing for my honey....this has definite possibility will have to add - dock with several kayaks, a small sail boat and a six pack (big enough for six peeps to fish comfortably or a dozen to booz cruise in style) power boat to our check list
  7. Welcome Ryan! Dave - did I count right - June Birthday? My hubby (whom shares your name), sister and four or five other family members are all June I'm May -- my stubborn Taurus sign is spot on I get to be 48 this round -- for the past few years I felt like I was in my 80s or 90s...now I feel like I'm in my 20s
  8. Woke with a fun thought - cabana boys are much easier to keep in ready supply in Florida
  9. Hi Patti! That's what we do....I toss with olive or melted coconut oil...they are yummy...just not very crunchy
  10. Ramblin' Man -- Allman Brothers
  11. Thanks Addie!!! Irish waddling with ducks in a muumuu....I may need to waddle on down there and join in the fun. Corn!!! Wahoo IH - me too I ate popcorn this morning with butter - OMGoodness - I have missed popped corn! So far so good. So yesterday was good and bad but very long. Mom is finally settled back home after 38 days in the hospital --...
  12. Hi Lori! go to the main forum page -- this one -- https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/ then choose a catagory -- like cooking, pre/post diagnosis questions -- click on one of those then click on "start new topic" and you'll be off and running. Also -- you can click on "View New Content" on the top of the page and it will give you a list...
  13. Exactly -- what I would give for a real potato chip substitute -- we do pretty well with baking sweet potato chips in the oven -- the thinner you get them the better....we have fried some in oil that turned out ok...but for the huge amount of oil in the pan and eventually in my body -- the oven ones get my vote - thus far.
  14. here's the best condensed info I've found on HIT: Open Original Shared Link
  15. One happy noodler here much improved ZuNoodles over my julienne mandolin! Also made sweet potato and yam curly Q fries -- yum and more fun than my regular version. Was set to try a butternut squash today --- glad to hear it went well for you. HIGHLY suggest any grain-frees out there order or pick up one of these little machines Oh I used...
  16. Completely understand -- when I was finally diagnosed at 43 -- we were at first skeptical as I had been mis-diagnosed or dismissed so many times. I can now pinpoint every symptom I have had since childhood to celiac disease and they are slowly improving or have disappeared. Do keep finishing those cookies...have a thin mint for me this evening for me...
  17. I don't think that is foolish at all. All the ingredients are gluten-free and the CYA of shared facility doesn't mean wheat ever gets near that particular product. Someone very wise has posted -- most of our kitchens are "shared facilities". Should you find you are reacting to products with a shared facility stmt...then remove them.
  18. I was suggesting you have the store find out from the manufacturer or ask them to give you a contact number or email for the manufacturer. Sometimes the store already knows when a product is gluten-free. I also prefer email to telephone as then I have a written response and it makes it easier to share the info with others on this forum.
  19. Love that... I must be version 16.0 about now - I actually say "doh" at a certain pitch - I am told by those arond me - they can tell from twenty yards or from another level of the house when I discover the error. Shit happens.
  20. Oh Sarah- Please do not blame yourself...unfortunately this process can be extremely frustrating. There is no reason a primary or naturopath can't order the necessary tests....you can even have them done privately for about $200 thru usahealthcheck.com - ill double check that web address when I'm not posting from my cell. Hang in there - May 1 is not...
  21. Awesome -- glad you found a good doctor and thanks for the update
  22. Will do...popped into the silly thread last night -- hope you are over the bug
  23. This is reason to be happy! Testing is such a pain. Even better news is the improvement you have already seen. I am over-the-moon happy for your family Let us know if you have any questions.
  24. Man...gotta love Amazon -- chose free 2-day shipping and it is already here in less than 24 hours -- can't wait to play
