  1. Squirmy!!!!! Good to see you around these parts. I use a bowl of warm water whenever working with pizza dough, chebe, or any other dough...I dip my hands repeatedly, shake and shape whatever I am working with. Hope that makes sense - great to see you
  2. Yeppers...son and I walked in support of their efforts this weekend...was a wonderful experience....having walked in several of these and those for SOSL...understanding is spreading
  3. Never apologize for asking questions -- it is the only way you can figure this out. My thought is these biopsies show just a glimpse of your villi and of the samples taken there was damage that can be attributed to the early stages of Celiac Disease -- it is possible there is more severe damage in places samples were not taken. Maybe. Sorry...
  4. Me too. That morning in September 2001 altered our country irrevocably -- each act of terror - homegrown or not - well - we can't go back - but I sure do wish we lived in a world without acts of terror hanging just over the horizon. I am going to hug those close to me and reach out to those whom I know that are living alone.
  5. YES!!! Great News...thank you for checking in -- can't tell you how much your spirit and strength inspires me. Great big HUG from me to you

  7. We toured all the Boston schools in the Spring of 2010 -- my celiac son felt "safest" with the answers we received and what we saw in the dinning facilities of Northeastern. I think Gemini is right -- things are improving on all college campus as awareness is spreading.
  8. Welcome Froggy! Add these to the list of tests nvsmom posted: Vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, D, K, Iron, Ferritin, Copper and Zinc Complete Metabolic Panel Complete Blood Count Good luck at the doctor -- take a written list of all symptoms and questions you have along with the tests you need to have run. I find it comforting to have it in...
  9. When you go back to test Vit D -- Add in: B1, B2, B6, K, Iron, Ferritin, Copper and Zinc I think you already had -- but make sure you had CMP and CBC as well. Hope you are feeling better soon!
  10. Great Post-- Here is one more that can be invaluable to patients, family and friends: Open Original Shared Link
  11. Welcome Back CG! Listen to Paul - he is very wise -- it can take time - but healing does happen when the correct diet for your body is maintained. Hang in there
  12. lol...I always hated malt vinegar on my fish and chips -- was a salt only gal too -- think our bodies were trying to tell us something so this weekend went all wonky between searching for a new "home" for Mom and a crappy - tired outta no-where afternoon yesterday -- the men took over last night and made chicken with glazed carrots for me with garlic...
  13. My samples were checked and rechecked by UCSD and Mayo and it was determined I never had Refractory Celiac Disease - although it sure felt like it for a very long time. I even thought they were wrong at one point -- turns out they were right -- for those of us with severe damage from decades of undiagnosed celiac disease it can take much more than one year...
  14. Then I wouldn't worry -- just keep living gluten-free and healing will happen.
  15. I've had four annual endoscopies. The first three showed NO improvement -- the last finally showed minor improvement -- I went undiagnosed for decades, but my celiac doctor was surprised by what he saw each year. How does your aunt feel? Has she had a subsequent celiac antibody panel to make sure she isn't accidentally ingesting gluten - this can...
  16. The enzymes necessary for digesting dairy are created in the small intestine -- celiac disease can impede this and make it difficult to digest lactose, all dairy or other foods until the digestive system has had a chance to heal. If someone is or has had trouble with dairy it a good idea to remove for a period of time and then reintroduce.
  17. Welcome Nancy!!!! These pesky AIs do run together -- and it is very frustrating. Let us know how we can help -- do check out the "Newbie 101" thread -- it is THE best place to review the basics....any questions - ask. Hang in there

Housewarming for some young friends - I'll bring something for me and hubby is happy to have someone else cook for him. Tomorrow will be creamy garlic enchiladas with the left over meat from the crock pot carnitas yesterday.
  23. Good Morning Everyone! Many of you know that mine has been a very long road to gain health -- often we focus on what we can't have or do as it is tough to lose food and activities - sometime it feels like we will never get them back. So today I share: One year ago I was in the midst of the worst flare of my life -- I call this my "Human Amoeba...
