  1. I have never heard of what you are talking about here. But wanted to tell you there's a great online company that offers supplements/minerals, etc. that are allergen-free....many of the usuals. www.kirkmanlabs.com. And they are great to work with. I'm unsure if they offer real prescriptions or not, but I bet they would know who does that you could feel...
  2. I have been lactose-intolerant for about 15 yrs and it kicked into turbo-gear when my gluten issues kicked in. I have found recently that I can "get away" with an occasional lactose slip as long as its not much, not cheddar cheese and there is A LOT of time in between those cheatings. Any more than that, and my symptoms are back in living color, lol.
  3. I have been frequenting some vegan sites due to my other food allergies...milk, eggs....besides my needs for gluten-free recipes. I found this the other day. I think it leaves room for alot of tweeking on your own, should you want to. Pumpkin Pie Shake vegan, serves 2-3 15 ounces organic canned pumpkin - 1 can (not pie mix) *Farmer's Market brand...
  4. wow, I did go straight to google and found this link and it looks like a great place! I have never heard of it, but its a great place to start. This was simply my first link, so googling may be a great source of research for you. Good luck! Open Original Shared Link Read thru the article and it lists several restaurants with gluten-free menus. I know...
  5. Ah, used to live there and WANT TO GO BACK!!! The gluten-free store is new since I lived there but I have been back to visit and visited the store. It's a good one! I wasn't affected with my gluten issues till just after I moved away from there (thinking that may be the "trauma" that triggered my issues) so I'm sorry to say I don't know of specific great...
  6. I also have been craving taquitos! Must be the time of year or something. I have a certain brand that has been good for me in this area (not Reser's) but no store seems to be carrying them this season!! All I have found are with flour tortillas or a mix of corn/flour tortillas! What's up with that?? ugh.
  7. Sometimes Extra-Strength Tylonol helps me.
  8. I'm so sorry. I truly think unless people live with it themselves, they simply cannot understand. Since you live there and are unemployed at the moment, why not take it upon yourself to totally reorganize the kitchen? Move pans away from the bread area. Take it upon yourself to clean cabinets and cutting boards before you use them. Better yet, find a...
  9. Sounds like you've never had to worry about being overweight. I can't imagine not, lol. All the things in Weight Watchers and places like that say is that white potatoes, corn and carrots are all real, whole foods overweight people should stay away from because they break down into sugar in our bodies. If you can find those type of items to add into your...
  10. I, too, am very dairy intolerant. I have been experimenting with making cream sauces. The best luck I've had so far is by add Sour Cream and Cream Cheese alternatives along with the soymilk. Of course the soymilk needs to be added as the heat is being turned off as it seperates under the heat. I turn down the heat to get the sour cream and cream cheese...
  11. Because doctors in this country SUCK at knowing about Celiacs!!! Do they stop to realize that you are poisoning yourself so things will show up on their tests and you are miserable the whole time? Do they realize that the only real "cure" is to be gluten-free? Duh! It's not rocket science, but it seems to be for them.
  12. I can't see how they could easily cc the coffee unless they drop crumbs in the pot, and that's not likely. I'd say you are pretty safe with the coffee.
  13. I am not diagnosed celiacs or colitis. In fact, should investigate colitis a bit more. But when my gluten-intolerances and other major food-group intolerances kicked in, my digestion was much like you have described. After many different doctors and research on my own, I concluded that I had a "leaky gut", which was described as the intestine lining becoming...
  14. thank you. At least I have someone to point to that has had the exact same experience, should she be open to discussing it again. WHY DON'T DOCTORS IN THIS COUNTRY KNOW OR CARE ABOUT THIS STUFF????? It's VERY frustrating!!
  15. I recently posted that my sister-in-law has lost her job due to being really sick off/on so much since school started. I strongly urged her to look into celiacs or gluten-intolerance and she had already decided that wasn't her problem without much investigating. She said she had already eliminated "most grains" and that wasn't her problem. But her dr....
  16. or perhaps you are having issues with milk or nuts and don't know it yet?? Just a thought.
  17. please let us know! I know bread is my biggest complaint also. But my problem is I need to substitute egg replacer and soy milk and those really seem to change outcomes. But please let us know how you like it.
  18. I LOVE duck! Any place that takes the time to talk to you like that deserves the publicity and kudos! Even though I don't live anywhere near LA, I'm sure others here may. Thanks for sharing!
  19. We had a post regarding this just recently. We don't know, lol. I, too, have had all sorts of issues, but I'm at that age too. I have not seen any research or subjects indicating there's a tie between the two, but that doesn't count for much.

    ARCHIVED Menopause

Well, I'm nearly 51 and having lots of trouble with my periods over the last year. My gyno said I had too much estrogen and not enough progesterone. So I am taking progesterone pills, which she said "very well may stop your periods while you are taking them", which was NOT bad news for me....I needed the break!! I missed nearly 3 months then started all...
  21. OMG! I think I would be vomiting just thinking of having that thing inside me!
  22. Does anyone know if the grilled chicken patties offered at McDonald's is gluten-free? I'm planning a long road trip home soon and was wondering if a quick McD's stop could be possible? Thank you!
  23. Unfortunately, about the time you have become very complacent about knowing which brands/foods you can safely have, often they change manufacturing facilities or change their recipes and you are severely glutened out of the blue. So keep looking at those labels, even if its a familiar item! It won't always take 3+ hrs to do it, though. I live in the western...
  24. Personally, I think our systems tend to bloat and gas alot in the beginning when we are purposely eating more veggies. I believe you will get better with that as you go with them. You are eating alot of bland non-fibrous things and your body is gasing and bloating from a sudden fiber intake also. Once it gets used to more of it, it'll get better. Not...
  25. I have used Kirkman Labs for sometime and they have very fine products. They have many options that are allergen-free along with gluten-free!
