  1. Not sure where he got his info...things may have changed since he was diagnosed...he may want to look on this site to get updated. He is probably missing out on so many wonderful foods. Maltodextrin in food made in the US is ok for us unless otherwise stated. All companies MUST put on their label if it is not derived from corn. For medications that is...
  2. It is on the huge Delphi product list as gluten free This is what it says: Vistaril (Pfizer) (884.381.1985) (verifired=07/02) Caplets and Suspension (gluten-free, contains corn) When always in question the best thing to do is call the manufacturer. Different gluten-free medications may cover more then others and there is no possible way to cover all...
  3. I was told they are the same as the other staxx(made on a dedicated line). They do not have the same ingredients as in the dressings. Just because it has the picture of the bottle does not mean it has the same ingredients.
  4. The Hidden Valley dressings have nothing to do with that flavor of Lays STAXX chips. The Lays STAXX chips are made on a dedicated gluten free line and have different ingredients then the dressings and mixes from Hidden Valley. I don't think the information about the chips would even be on the Hidden Valley site.
  5. I have not found any crackers that fit the taste of saltines. I have found crackers made by Glutano that are really good and they look similar to saltines too but I have to eat them with something like cheese on top of it or to put in soup. I will not eat them plain though.
  6. Welcome to the board You are welcome to post here. Which blood tests did you have done for celiac? The tTG and EMA tests are very specific for celiac. Also, with Enterolab coming back the way it did I would assume you have a problem with gluten. I find that to be a very good test. People who have had celiac go undiagnosed can have problems...

    ARCHIVED What To Do Next?

Were you gluten free when you had your original testing done? Which test came back positive? The tTG and EMA are very specific for celiac. If you want a biopsy you need to go back on gluten for a good 3 months, eating gluten heavily. Could you be getting gluten in your diet somehow? Could you be getting in through products like shampoo? Or have you changed...
  8. Depending which tests were done(some are more specific and reliable than others) but yes
  9. It's a genetic autoimmune disorder and requires a life long gluten free diet to control it. Some people with the gene do not have the celiac activated but they still have predisposition to it. Celiac can be activated by things such as childbirth, viral & bacterial infections, surgery, stress, etc.
  10. Here are the brands that were posted that will not hide anything. Do remember that policies can change. To the best of knowledge this is correct though. Aunt Nelly’s Balance Baskin Robbins Ben&Jerry Betty Crocker Blue Bunny Breyers Campbells Cascadian Farms Celestial Seasonings Country Crock Dove Edy’s General Mills Good Humor Green Gia...
  11. Alot of salad dressings can contain gluten. Any way you can find out what the ingredients were and whether it was gluten free? Looks like you'll have to use this as a learning experience and make sure you know the ingredients and whether they are gluten free next time.
  12. Which blood tests did you have done? I was diagnosed through blood tests. My tTG was more then double what it should be and I also have one of the main genes for celiac(HLA-DQ2) You should get the celiac panel including the following: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA...
  13. If you were off gluten before testing then the test pretty much meant nothing. If you were on gluten then you probably have a gluten intolerance rather then celiac. You might want to consider a gene test because 98% of celiacs have the HLA-DQ2 or HLA-DQ8 gene. If you are predisposed to celiac, a gluten intolerance could turn into celiac if you continue to...
  14. Your definitely right about that. Alexia fries are the best and they have multiple gluten free kinds that say it right on the bag
  15. Too Funny
  16. Maybe the person does not know you have celiac. Could you suggest a interview over coffee or something at Starbucks or something like that? Maybe you can bring your own food, or call ahead and see if they make gluten free foods. If they can not accomodate you then I would just go with a bit of your own food or not eat anything there. Good luck and don't...
  17. Heath Bars are made by Hershey so they will not hide it on the label.
  18. Yea, if he is getting the initial testing, go with the tests that celiac3270 mentioned. If he is going for a followup test, he should get the tests done that had come back positive last time to see if levels have come down.

    ARCHIVED Miserable

I hope you get feeling better soon. As for blood pressure....my moms can run really low like usually hers is somewhere near 86/56 or 90's/60's.....mine usually runs around that too. So it can be normal but if it's not normal for you then your doctor should be investigating into what could be causing that. I would definitely look on if you are getting...
  20. That is quite disturbing but very funny. I feel bad for the person who actually believes that
  21. The owner of the TCBY I worked at would call whoever made where they got the icing from to verify if it was gluten free. If not, if you bring some in that you can have they will make it with that....not sure if other TCBY's do this but I know this one did
  22. It is genetic and your family could have had this in the past and just not known about it. You could have had people in your family who have carried the gene but just never had the celiac "activated" and then passed the gene down to you and yours was "activated" You don't have to have any symptoms at all so that has made it hard to diagnose along with the...
  23. That's great they were listening. Did they know of ways they could contaminate it while making it though? If they didn't know about gluten I would be very skeptical because where they prepare these cakes there is alot of ways it can be contaminated. If you do order it talk to a manager and then request a manager makes it...I know I worked at TCBY and the...
  24. I agree because my levels were low. I don't need it as much as I did but I still need to take it occasionally. I agree that too much is too bad...but thats the same with pretty much anything.
  25. No Kamut as said by many people before me but there are other gluten-free pancake mixes out there.
