  1. Have you gone to a celiac or gluten intolerance specializing nutritionist? One thing that helped me very much was working with a nutritionist to balance my gluten free diet. I also had significant vitamin deficiencies and need prescription vitamins for a time and now I remain on a multi-vitamin. Also take vitamins at night before bed and I do not eat very...
  2. Have no fear, you will feel better! I suffered from horrible fatigue and became unable to exercise at all before going gluten free. To my knowledge with NO Contamination set backs it takes ~3 months for your system to heal internally. Your body is still working very hard to repair damage and that is not taking into account that there is a gluten-free...
  3. I love Marcello's deep dish gluten free! AND THEY DELIVER! You can order the gluten free pizza online! I use the Northbrook location its awesome to get a gluten free hot delivery pizza and it has gluten free labels all over it, just to make sure! Never gotten sick!
  4. Yes the only way the fries are gluten free if they do not apply the RR seasoning/salt. I always get the RR gourmet cheeseburger just lettuce wrap tomato and cheese with some ketchup and its great! You can ask to see their gluten free list, most have an allergen binder. No seasoning salt on the burger or fries and you will be ok! In addition all allergy...
  5. McDonald's no longer maintains a gluten free list of products. Their fries contain wheat (beef flavoring) but not wheat gluten protein. Cross contamination is always a concern with multiple shifts if the managers are not conscience of allergies. I get sick every time even with dedicated fryers due to an additional wheat allergy not just celiac. Red Robin...
  6. I went and voted! I had some trouble finding the survey, it is on their Deli Blog linked at the bottom of their main page. I really hope they do offer this option, although the worst episode of glutening for me happened at Jason's Deli. I order a salad with gluten free italian dressing, they had mixed their fat free(gluten-fulled) and regular up in...
  7. YES TONS of Ice cream is gluten-free. You can eat the soft serve at Dairy Queen like the peanut buster parfait (my favorite) or flavors at Baskin Robbins and Ben and Jerry's! Make sure if it is scooped ice cream they use a clean scooper and change their gloves, avoid machines that mix multiple items like (blizzard machines). You have to look up the flavors...
  8. The only french fries I will eat out is Red Robin who have a gluten free menu and a dedicated fryer, Chick-fil-a who have dedicated fryers and every manager guarantees that the chicken is not mixed with the fries. Other than that is not worth the chance when you can make Ore-Ida and Alexi's at home! I do not eat any fast food french fries of the main...
  9. Just wanted to let you know! Recently while looking up "On the Go" items for my family I noticed both Hardees fast food and Burger King have released a Gluten Sensitivities list for their products. Of course this does not cover cross contamination but it is a step forward!! Both Menus can be found on their websites under nutritional information. ...
  10. I spoke with the manager at my local Kona Grill (Lincolnshire, IL), they are reworking their gluten-free menu and hope to have a new one published soon. She told me I could have the sushi there, the rice was steamed non-instant and they do have the Tamari gluten-free soy sauce. She said no crab or sauces but all the fish and veggie rolls were fine, they...
  11. The chain lists are growing longer, since I moved to Chicagoland I have to add some great restaurants. Wildfire (my favorite), the Yardhouse, Kona Grill, Fleming's and Ruth Chris Steak House, Chipotle, Boston Market, Chik-fil-a (in the south not Chicago), Ted Montana's Grill, Mitchell's fish house, Five Guys, Marcello's (gluten-free AWESOME PIZZA) and Hardee...
  12. Roswell GA is very close to Atlanta GA and there is tons of kid friendly things to do! GA Aquarium, World of Coke, Atlanta ZOO, etc.. very vacation worthy! It is Outback's test kitchen for Allergy menus, being wildly successful I hope they plant another test kitchen soon!!
  13. I agree! I had my Triumph Dining Restaurant guide with me and a printed out copy of last month and I ALWAYS ate the con queso. It was listed as gluten free on both. I always asked for corn tortillas steamed and dipped them. Just this week my husband and I went there and I randomly asked them to bring me their updated list just to check and noticed the...
  14. I have to mention I have had a similar experience with a place. I attended a friends birthday party at a brewery. I didn't drink so I thought I would be fine but just being in the open brewery warehouse after 30 mins I started getting sick. Really bad headache, muscle twitches, shakes, nausea, etc. After 1 hour I had to go home and became incredibly sick...
  15. Angel foods wings are awesome!! My husband loves the breading and is not gluten-free. They are great with some sauce!
  16. This book is my life saver. It has the Great Value brands as well as major and other generics brands. It also has a section for personal care items and pharmacy. Cecelia's Marketplace grocery shopping guide. Well worth the money to saved and buy locally! Open Original Shared Link Do note that Great Value has changed there product lines since October...
  17. I have the Triumph dining restaurant guide. It is great but the information on some menus do change so I print gluten-free options off the internet to supplement too! The Triumph dining cards are pretty good too! here is the website: Open Original Shared Link Good Luck!
  18. Your story sounds very similar to mine. GI problems and severe "IBS" all my life. Irish women grandmother has autoimmune, mother and sister primary immune. History myself of rashes, strange kidney infection, thought to have lupus in college came back something auto but not quite enough to diagnosis. Joint pain when to rheumatologist thought to have rheumatoid...
  19. I have not seen the Applegate farms Gluten-free nuggets. The B&E are my favorite. Ian's is terrible!!!!! I couldn't even hide them in dressing. Ian's fish sticks are bad too! If you are looking for affordable have you tried the Angel Food Ministry's allergy free box of chicken nuggets or strips. They are the cheapest I have found. Was thinking about...
  20. That response is not very comforting. She was speaking of cross contamination of machines in their manufacturing process but not about what oats they use and if they are gluten free before being added. It is hard to get oats from a oat only factory. I would personally not take the chance. I would take them back and get something with no oats.
  21. Check out the "Eating Gluten Free with Emily" book on amazon. I am not a parent so I can not really help but with my niece they told her if she ate that her tummy would hurt. She felt so sick getting gluten that she understood. We also put pink stickers on everything that was gluten free for her in the house. She felt special and hated being sick. Other...
  22. In regards to the joint pain: I went through the whole gambit of lupus and rheumatoid arthritis tests to find out I had a vitamin D deficiency as an aquatics director who was always outside! Have you had your vitamin D checked? Do you have high inflammation/sed rates? I can feel when my vitamin levels are low, I get the joint pain back fast if I forget...
  23. Note quite sure why we have an addicition to heavy fragrance in ALL products. Since the all natural phase has kicked into a lot of American products, it has been easier to find but not that easy! Check out Targets baby coupons they normally have $1 off California Baby products you can print off online. I highly recommend their no fragrance shampoo too...
  24. I am a little confused, maybe I am strange but upon going gluten free I was feeling stomach and mentally better in 2-3 weeks noticing an improvement. Are you still getting glutened? When you get ready for school do you shower with gluten containing shampoo or soap, use any sort of gluten containing makeup, chapstick or lotion? I would check your morning...
