  1. celiac3270, check with your school system to see if it is possible to take your finals a week early in order to attend an educational seminar such as this one. Different systems have different policies, but if they are aware of your medical issues they will often agree. Just provide them with a well articulated argument for its educational value. I am certain...
  2. B-complex will often help morning sickness. Never let your stomach get totally empty or it will be hard to get it back under control. The old soda crackers by the bedside doesn't work for us, but some other gluten-free snack might. Just be sure you eat it while still laying down. The good news is that if you are like most of us, you will wake up one morning...
  3. Glad to help. We've all forgotten to log another out at some point. Don't worry...your secret is safe with me.
  4. We had one child that we kept putting off getting her pictures made because she always had a purple knot in the middle of her forehead. We finally decided that we needed a picture of her that way...because that was her at that age.
  5. Some days it is all I can do to check in on those I have already posted to. Is there a way to get more than the last ten? Other days, I go through and look at most of them, checking to see if I can add more than those who have already posted. Unless I can add something of value, I just back out and move on to the next one.
  6. Don't know about the pressure from the dentures, but you can break out in your mouth, ears, and nose. Have you checked your adhesive and your cleaning solution to be sure they are gluten-free?
  7. I wonder how they will handle students with hypoglycemia or diabetes who require immediate foods when they begin to feel rough? Surely their policy will address such issues. When will they catch on that the federal guidelines still allow white flour and fried foods in all meals? That needs to be addressed as well for all the students' well-being. Just...
  8. Congratulations! It is such a great feeling to get that call that you actually got the job. Oh, to be able to work again would be so nice. My budget would like it too!
  9. If your doc will agree, you can also give yourself the B-12 (and B-complex and folic acid if needed) using an insulin needle. That way you do not have to make arrangements to get them done. I have not tried the sublingual version, but the shots sure help.

We Braves fans know about that injury bug. I think we have played half of the last two seasons with rookies. We looked around at one point earlier this year and realized that Rafael Furcal was the oldest one in the infield when Julio Franco wasn't playing first!
  11. This mix is a slight adjustment to one a lot of us use. I have made a similar loaf using my mixer and a loaf pan. We do that when we want to make a lot of sandwiches (we keep a gluten-free home and have five family members). I use 1 1/2 of the recipe. I make it slightly thicker and be sure to allow it to rise till almost double. If it rises too much, it won...
  12. That's the most encouraging info I have gotten so far. Thank you.
  13. We will be visiting my Mom in Moultrie for an extended period of time and need suggestions on buying groceries there. Up here we hit the Kroger mostly, but there does not seem to be one within 75 miles of Moultrie. Help, please!
  14. Mine is very high and also my triglycerides. I cannot take most of the meds for it either. I now use Welchol, fiber, and have had to start drinking a small glass of red wine regularly. This teetotaler is not used to that! At lest the numbers are looking better. Apparently the celiac disease can cause problems with the liver and the cholesterol does not...
  15. I have not used the name brand, but Kroger's generic is gluten-free.
  16. I get that red face and itchy rash every time I get glutened.
  17. We had not only the cross contamination problem, but also a really sneaky kid who should be gluten-free and would sneak in and swipe anything she could find. We finallywent to a totally gluten-free household. Outside, our non-cders can have whatever they want. Inside, no gluten allowed. We are in much better health and our doctor and hospital bills have dropped...
  18. I also use a Whisper Mill and have found it to be durable and well worth the investment if you can do it, especially if you bake a lot or have a large family. I was not familiar enough with blenders to make a bold statement, but I do not think it will mill fine enough either. Do not hesitate to ask questions even if you think they are trivial. This process...
  19. Those first few weeks can be daunting when you go to shop. Use a reputable grocer with a dietician's line that can answer your questions. If possible, don't take the kids with you for those first few trips. They get far too frustrated and you are more likely to just grab items. As you get better at it, it won't be such a big deal anymore. We also live...

  21. There are three sizes of clothes in my closet: gluten-free, just a little gluten, and gluten attack. Hmm...wonder if that should go into the You might be a celiac if post?
  22. I try to keep a list of all the pharmaceutical companies and their contact info. Geneva is a division of Novartis best I can tell. Here is the Geneva and the Sandoz info. Geneva Pharmaceuticals (Div of Novartis) 2655 West Midway Boulevard Broomfield, Colorado 80038 1-(800)-525-8747 Open Original Shared Link Geneva is part of Novartis AG David...

BASEBALL! I love my Atlanta Braves and my son's New Georgia Bombers. I keep score for games. For that Orioles fan out there...we miss our Javy. Take good care of him, will you.
  25. Two things about klonopin. 1- Check with the manufacturer to be certain that it is gluten-free. Some are not. 2- If you need to change this med, come off it slowly. There are what I believe to be better alternatives out there and the only way to determine which is right for you is a discussion with your doc. The change went far more smoothly for me...
