  1. Agree with getting the liver checked & too many carrots? I knew someone whose sun turned orangey tan from too many Open Original Shared Link
  2. He's not actually a medical doctor, is he? Associated with any of the Celiac research Centers? No. I could call myself a doctor and put a Youtube video and say the opposite of this guy. Hmmm.....Maybe I should! this is from actual MD's that research Celiac Disease. Open Original Shared Link "What’s with all the talk about certain types o...
  3. I can't find where they say that a non-Celiac mom does not have to eat gluten-free during pregnancy. I know I saw that. You could email the U of C Celiac ct and ask. Open Original Shared Link
  4. Open Original Shared Link Looks like a 1 in 22 chance. No reason to eat gluten-free during pregnancy unless you have Ceiac disease. I have seen that but can't find it right now. or 1 in 20? Open Original Shared Link
  5. Get a copy of the tests that were run. I'm not sure what he means by 16 markers. There are a couple of blood tests, and endoscopy with a biopsy and response to diet. Maybe he is one of the many that don't know anything about Celiac? Open Original Shared Link
  6. So I made " Oopsies" . They are a bit bland with a fallen soufflé texture. I put salted sunflower seeds on a few and that was pretty good. We thought we might make them bite sized with a sprinkle of cooked bacon on top and maybe, when almost cooked, add a sprinkle of a sharp cheddar. They have a very fun texture so I could see putting some flavorful ...
  7. I think people use rice flour for frying. Maybe go to the main forum page and use the google function in the top right corner. Try " fried chicken" and " onion rings". If you use the " advanced search" you can choose to see the actual posts, I think that's easier. I know this has been talked about a lot. I try not to fry things so I don't remember.
  8. What people have been trying to say is that, years of Celiac have caused you to either loose calcium from your bones or you have never been able to build "filled in" bones because you couldn't absorb calcium. Your bones don't magically fill in if they start to get calcium. It takes calcium, weight bearing exercises and sometimes medications like Fosamax...
  9. About 100F today. Not sure if these " oopsies" are good. Haven't tried them. Let me see if I can copy the recipe. Be right back The recipe I have is this one but without sweetener http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-detail.asp?recipe=259930

  11. I consider wine a whole food. Get your blood levels checked every year as is recommended. That should help you see if you are reacting to something on a regular basis.
  12. Too stinking hot to cook, inside or out so - Cheese and fruit and crackers. Might turn the oven on long enough to try a recipe for a cheese bread thing called " oopsies".
  13. Sorry he can't eat the corn chips in nachos. Will it bother him to see others eating that? For nachos, I just get chips, we like Mission round ones as they are strong. I put shredded cheese and whatever else you like on them. You could add salsa, cooked chicken or hamburger or bacon, beans, chili, fresh tomatoes. My " boys" like them with out the salsa...
  14. You don't need to serve his friend pre- made gluten-free food. Why not make tacos or nachos? Cheese and fruit? Don't have the kids over until after lunch? Snacks are easier - cut up apples and melt Kraft Carmel's with a little water and pour over the apple slices. Popcorn. homemade Chex mix. PB on celery or apples.
  15. Oats cannot be considered gluten-free unless they say they are. This rule doesn't apply to other foods, just oats. Regular oats usually have wheat in them. You do realize that you can't be tested for Celiac disease if you are not eating gluten?
  16. But Outback tells you that - on the gluten-free menu. If you order from the gluten-free menu, they won't put the gluten on your veggies. Yes.....there is always a risk someone will screw up but Outback is one of the safest places for gluten-free.
  17. How long do you think a seed would stay in the air? Throw up a sesame seed ( even lighter than a wheat seed) and see. I bet it falls immediately. Lots of people are allergic to pollen and Walmart sells plants and flowers. Now that can float in the air for a while.
  18. Hay for feeding cattle, etc isn't wheat. It's Timothy or alfalfa or a couple of other things. Sometimes it will have the seeds in it and they look sort of like a wheat seed. But I wouldn't really worry about wheat, outside a store and on the ground. But you and your hub can decide for yourselves. A bale of hay weighs 45 pounds. These might be smaller...
  19. Do you cook the potato until its as soft as you would to eat a baked potato? Does it hold together well enough?
  20. I have had this happen to me. Now, my beer is always in a cover like this. Open Original Shared Link Or the foam kinds. My hub doesn't use one unless he is outside. Even if my hub brings me my beer in the cover or sets it in the cover, I double check what is in the coozie before I drink. One time he put his beer in my koozie by accident. We went to...
  21. Redd is an ale with apple flavoring. IT IS NOT gluten-free! Ale means a type of beer. Open Original Shared Link
  22. Have you tried googling (or whatever search engine you use) "gluten free egg free" Or "gluten free vegan"? I know there are a lot of dairy and egg free gluten-free recipes out there. Not sure about meal plans. You might have to do that yourself. The good thing is that these are naturally gluten-free- beans, rice, millet, buckwheat, nuts, seeds, veggies...
  23. I haven't found any hard ciders that aren't gluten-free. All the Woodchuck flavors, Angry Orchard, Hornsby, Crispin, Magnum, ....
  24. All you have to do is ask the health center & see what they say. My son's college health center has a lot of services that surprised me. They even have eye doctors for eye exams one day a week. And our insurance pays for campus health centers.
  25. You need to be eating gluten to get tested. Why not just get that done right away? If you cut out gluten for a few weeks and feel a lot better, you may not want to start eating it again.
