Open Original Shared Link See if that works. I looked at it. I have seen them on that show a few times, but they really are hard to watch. They always have a glass of wine or some alcoholic beverage and act drunk sometimes. I think this video is getting too much attention. Addy just posted a much better one on this thread. https://www.celiac.com/forums...

ARCHIVED Why Do Potato Chips Have A Bad Reputation?
kareng replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love potato chips but....they are full of fat, sodium and no real nutritional value. But, if you need the calories, then enjoy some. My mom's dietician said to give her chips for an empty calorie snack but she can't have the salt. -
Is it OK if I looked at it? Cause I did! So cute!

ARCHIVED Do You Think A Person Can "recover" From Gluten Intolerance?
kareng replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You can't cure Celiac disease at this time. I guess you could cure a non- Celiac gluten intolerance. Probably depends on why they were intolerant in the first place. Maybe that reason isn't a factor any more. Problem is, it isn't always clear what the underlying issue is. This is based on the assumption a person who SAYS they have a gluten Intolerance... -
ARCHIVED The New Celiac Drug Is Out There
kareng replied to gatita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I didn't see that as condescending. I thought she was trying to give you some hope and explain what it has been like for her. Most newbies want some help from people who have gone thru it and have tips, advice and can let them know that you will survive and maybe even be happy again. -
ARCHIVED Cadbury Australia Undeclared Cross Contamination
kareng replied to gf-soph's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If you have been eating it with no problems and the manufacturing process hasn't changed, its still the same food you have been eating all along. I don't know the rules in Australia, but in the US, they don't have to label the shared facility or shared lines thing. Maybe they had a certain period of time to comply with your labelling laws? If they... -
Looks like its showing now. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/102018-how-accurate-are-celiac-blood-tests/#entry870964 When you are new, you must have your posts apporved by a moderator. We are all volunteers and sometimes, like the middle of the night US time, there might not be a mod on here to do it. edited to fix link

ARCHIVED Probiotic To Help Digestion Of Raw Veggies And Fruit?
kareng replied to nvsmom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Just from some common sense knowledge, but some veggies and fruits are known to cause gas in "normal" people. I think pears are in that group, too. Maybe you are just "normal"? -

ARCHIVED Is It Possible To Bypass The Blood Tests In Favor Of Immediate Endoscopy?
kareng replied to BelleVie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ask the GI. Take this in for him/ her to see. Open Original Shared Link What is a gluten challenge? A gluten challenge is the period of time when gluten is added back into a person’s diet to assist in the diagnosis of celiac disease. Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Debate
kareng replied to come dance with me's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's an interesting article. I'm not familiar with the specifics of your gluten-free labeling laws. From what I have seen from other people in Australia, they may not be either. I would hate for them to loosen up just because the rest of the world is a bit looser. But....many gluten-free companies are testing to 10 ppm even if the US proposed law... -
ARCHIVED What Do You Miss The Most?
kareng replied to Slr38's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
People always say I make the best brownies. Gluten Free Pantry has a good mix with the chips in it. Or use the choc chips or mini ones ( they melt in better) in the Betty Crocker ones. I like to add Kraft caramel bits. I made some of the Betty Crocker ones and put a chocolate ganache on them. Then cut them into bite sized squares and put a raspberry... -

I cook them without toppings until almost done and that helps. I also make then with the cheese. I figure there is enough cheese on top of the pizza! -

ARCHIVED Stomach Ache After Eating Certain Wheat Foods For An Hour
kareng replied to wandalo54's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm guessing you do not have Celiac Disease? You may not get many others on here that can " relate" as we don't eat any gluten products. Perhaps you should check the ingredients? See if there is a common one or two in the products that bother you but not in homemade? -

Looks like the ones from the local restaurant are gluten-free. They sell them at some of the groceries, too. Or the one Irish posted would work. I don't know if anyone is coming over and probably won't until 3 or 4. Hub is smoking some pork but I don't have enough sides if I have extra people....ugh! -
