  1. What specifically was it coated with? Coating it with flour would make it clump and stick together. I have never seen wheat flour on shredded or grated cheese.
  2. I haven't made that soup yet. It better be good....everyone is making it! Finally have nice weather! Last night I made a stir fry and hub grilled some steaks to plop in it! Tonight will be encores of various things or a PB&J. We have a lacrosse game. Not sure I will be able to watch if its not cold and windy.
  3. She has a lot of cute ideas on her site that I would totally eat! Maybe she could be our mommy?
  4. Not many, at all, in the US. But still read labels
  5. You could take it all to your regular doc or your OB/GYN/. tell her you got a GI who won't commit to anything and you can't talk to him. Maybe they would "declare" it for you. Or talk to the GI and get it clarified.
  6. That's a good idea. But first, we need to find out if he even has a good understanding of eating gluten-free. Many people who are new to Celiac don't realize, or haven't thought about, the odd places they might be getting gluten. Like the shared toaster or PB jar. If he has all of these down, then eliminating dairy would be a good next step. I'm waiting...
  7. 2 months isn't really that long. It can take 2 months just to figure out how to eat gluten-free. Are you eating out or food other people prepare? Do you have your own fresh Peanut butter, mayo, butter tub, etc that isn't full of gluten crumbs? Your own gluten-free toaster? A colander that has not been used for gluten pasta? Are your medications gluten...
  8. Saw this blog. She has some great ideas for a kids school lunch, but I think they are good for us adults, too. Open Original Shared Link
  9. Not sure how a rectal biopsy would help with Celiac as it manifests in the small intestine. I have never seen a Celiac center recommend such a thing.
  10. Wen you were diagnosed with this, what did the doctor say? Just ask around? . Seriously, like cycling lady said, take you meds and find a good website or book or a pamphlet from your docotor that describes how you should eat.
  11. I'm just going to try to clear this part up: Open Original Shared Link "What is a gluten challenge? A gluten challenge is the period of time when gluten is added back into a person’s diet to assist in the diagnosis of celiac disease. Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a gluten c...
  12. Yes, we still say that. Your links appear to be about allergies. If you are a doctor, as your " name" suggests, you know that Celiac disease is not an allergy. The topic was about the reliability of a company that says it will take your money to run tests, such as for gluten sensitivity or Celiac " cross- reactive foods". Currently, there are no medically...
  13. Last night we had chicken tacos and this veggie mix http://www.walmart.com/ip/C-W-Ultimate-Southwest-Blend-Vegetable-Stand-Combinations-14-oz/10791050 It was quite tasty and simple veggie mix.
  14. Olive oil can have a strong flavor. Light olive oil might be better in baking. http://www.walmart.com/ip/10292274?wmlspartner=wlpa&adid=22222222227009158600&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=&wl3=18121339870&wl4=&wl5=pla&veh=sem
  15. New Planet is good. They have added 2 new "flavors" recently. The new flavors haven't made it to my area yet.
  16. And we are sharing our experiences with them, too.
  17. I commented on thier page. Not sure anyone will see it but asking someone who has decided they have Celiac to explain it is nuts. And they explained it wrong! We can't digest gluten so it coats our intestines? Why do "news" programs not have any clue about the topic?
  18. This post you are relying on for gluten-free info is 5 years old. Products change in that amount of time. PLEASE check the gluten-free status yourself before using!

    ARCHIVED Delayed Dh

Open Original Shared Link Can someone with celiac disease, who didn’t initially have dermatitis herpetiformis (DH), develop it if he/she has continued gluten exposure? If someone with celiac disease is actually ingesting gluten, he/she could theoretically develop dermatitis herpetiformis later in life. Open Original Shared Link I'm...

  21. Just to add to the above: if you eat at a buffet, you should expect lots of cc. People balance the bread on the edge of the plate and it falls in the " safe" fruit salad. They pick it up and you have no way of knowing the crumbs that lurk there. Sometimes a serving spoon is missing and someone may use the spoon from the couscous ( gluten) to scoop some...
  22. Might have nothing to do with Celiac at all. MY\y son found that parts of him would be itchy (no hives) no matter how much lotion he used. He found that some soaps, detergents, lotions and shampoos started making him itch. He found if he switched to the fragrance free clothes detergent and "all natural" shampoos & Cerave lotion - the itching is gone...
  23. It was when I checked but I have been using the Target brand version. It says gluten-free on it. Claritin and Zyrtec are on this list compiled by a pharmacist Open Original Shared Link
  24. And to add to this...passed out and puking is also a 911 call. Unconscious people often aspirate the vomit and die. Actually, passed out alone is a reason to call 911. You might want to re- think your choice in friends.
