ARCHIVED Breastfed Infant With Celiac
kareng replied to LilleesMom's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you are feeding her gluten free, the endoscopy, whenever you get one, will likely be negative. Hopefully you could get a doc to officially diagnose based on reaction to diet and blood tests? -
ARCHIVED Croissant Recipe?
kareng replied to Gf Princess182's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link Funny you should ask. Just saw this last night. I think its hard to make good croissants gluten-free. -
I don't think we can expect dedicated ovens. I do think we should expect fresh toppings, not the cheese they have been putting their flour laden hands in. Locally, Minskys is certified and had training to make gluten-free pizza. They get fresh ingredients from the fridge for the gluten-free pizzas. They put them in the ovens with a 15 in (?) space between...

ARCHIVED Taste Of The Wild Recall
kareng replied to ravenwoodglass's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What they said on our news tonight was that humans were getting sick from handling the food. I guess they weren't washing thier hands well after? Still, wouldn't want to feed it to your pet. -
"Domino's and the NFCA found that while the crust is certified as gluten free, current store operations at Domino's cannot guarantee that each handcrafted pizza will be completely free from gluten," the company's news release said." I hate these pseudo gluten-free menus. It confuses the non- gluten-free people who think we can eat at these places...

ARCHIVED Restaurant Won't Let Me Bring In My Own Food
kareng replied to Newbee's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Could you eat before you go? Or wait until after? I usually don't ask if I can bring food to a restaurant. I don't bring anything big and messy. Just a discreet sandwich and I usually sit where ever is farthest from the waiter. I would tell the " boss" of the meeting. Let them know you can't eat the food. I would think for business purposes, you... -
This is church group, again? Where are your parents? Why do they allow you to continue to be bullied and threatened with physical harm? You have said you have told the youth group adult leader and nothing has happened. You have told your parents and they refuse to help and insist that you go to this group? Looks like its up to you at this point. ...

Kids where you live are really mean. My boys go to school with kids with Celiac and no one does all the horrible things the kids at your school & church do to the Celiac or peanut allergy kids. Well. schools almost over & you never have to go to social activities with them again.

ARCHIVED Excellent Gluten,dairy Free Website
kareng replied to Ginsou's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Try this site Open Original Shared Link. . She compiles recipes every week from other places. She has a lot of Vegan so they would be dairy free. You could see if you like any of the sites she links to. I made the " Megan Lust vegan pizza buns". I used eggs and real cheese but the original recipe is completely vegan using " flax eggs". They were good... -
ARCHIVED Ice Cream And Milk
kareng replied to kendick's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Did you read the ingredients? Most " cookies and cream" are made with a wheat flour based cookie like an Oreo. -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Kids Snacks
kareng replied to Pattgal's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thinking of more things my kids ate and are a bit healthier: A Chex mix with the corn & the Rice Chex, peanuts, raisins, M&Ms or Nestlé choco chips. Kids don't need a seasoning and baking in the oven mix. PB on celery or apples or pancakes or waffles. Cold cut roll- ups - roll a slice of ham or turkey around a piece of cheese &... -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Kids Snacks
kareng replied to Pattgal's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Talk of smoothies reminded me. I saw on The Chew where they put the smoothie in Popsicle " makers" and froze them. Kids would really like that! -
Knorr Bouillon
kareng replied to mroper's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If its sold in the US, they must label wheat. Carmel coloring is not a concern in the US as far as gluten. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed-Collagenous Sprue Any Others?
kareng replied to momtojzsh's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The OP hasn't been on here in a year. You might be able to message her. Some people have thier account set up to notify them of personal messages and if she did that...and if she has the same email....maybe you could reach her. Click on the envelope under her picture or click her picture then the " send message" under the picture in her profile. -
ARCHIVED Glutenfree Cinco De Mayo Food
kareng replied to stef-the-kicking-cuty's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Most taco sauces & salsas are gluten-free. I have found some canned enchilada sauces have flour to thicken them. Sometimes the taco seasoning packets have flour. Mainly to make it look like you are getting your money's worth by filling up the packet. I think most people think Tex- Mex like chips and nachos and crunchy tacos as Mexican food. -
Big Bang Theory! Re- runs on every night that my boys watch. Very educational for boys whose favorite classes are physics. They try hard not to become Sheldon. Tried to read the 50 Shades of Grey. Really didn't get far. I hate " heroines" that let themselves be victims. Worse, a woman that lets a man degrade and physically abuse her. Just...

ARCHIVED Costco Products
kareng replied to GFinminneapolis's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Please don't tell me this! My thighs & waist do not need to know this! Lots of people here say the rotisserie chicken is good. Some Costcos have a lot of non wheat flours and large bags of nuts to make your own flour. Some have gluten free ravioli but I haven't seen it here in Kansas. Packaged salsas, guacamole & hummus. -
ARCHIVED Labeling Laws For Drugs Are Almost A Reality.
kareng replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Email sent. That's a nifty form. You just fill in your part and it figures out who your state rep is & sends it for you. If anyone is on a corn or soy intolerance forum, they might want to post this. Seems like corn is in more meds than gluten and just as hard to figure out. -
ARCHIVED Oskri Cashew Granola - Mislabeled?
kareng replied to basilicious's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Weird! I haven't had their products. If you get a response from the company, please copy it and add it to this thread. They could be gluten-free oats but they didn't list them as an ingredient. I'm not sure what buckwheat would look like in this situation. Did you see something besides the oats and the nuts, seeds & cranberry that could be the buckwheat... -
ARCHIVED Getting Confused
kareng replied to trayne91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When you get them, you could post them here if they don't seem clear to you. I posted what to ask for and what you should get so you can be sure you get it all. Sometimes, they will only give you the final page of the path report which has the diagnosis. The procedure report should be typed not just the handwritten note some docs make after a procedure... -
ARCHIVED Getting Confused
kareng replied to trayne91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If he will take Many samples of your small intestines, you might want to go ahead. Get copies any blood work done and the op/ procedure report and the pathology report. The Pathologist looks at the samples, not the doctor. He or she will send a written report to the doctor, usually about 2 pages long. It will list what the samples are, what was seen... -
ARCHIVED Need Help With Kids Snacks
kareng replied to Pattgal's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
There have been a lot of threads about this you might want to look at, too. Upper right corner has a google box. Google snacks. One example:9 One of my Favs is Cinnamon Chex or Chocolate Chex. Easy to carry some with you and close to healthy. My boys always liked unsalted dry roasted peanuts -
ARCHIVED Clarification On Calcium Supplement
kareng replied to LadyPN's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Since your actual question is about a product, I moved it to that section. You might want to post the whole first paragraph in the pre- diagnosis/ test section. I think that would help. Sure, you can name the brand of a product. The response you got is a pretty typical CYA ( cover your A$$) legal statement. They don't use any gluten ingredients...
