Found this recipe for "flour" torillas. Not sure if other brands would work. Everything on this website looks soooo good. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Super Picky Eater Who Eats Almost Nothing But Gluten
kareng replied to Minette's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I found it helpful to not eat certain gluten-free versions of things for a few weeks until I sort of forgot what they taste like. Annies makes a gluten-free mac & cheese. -
ARCHIVED Soy
kareng replied to Bob4962's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Soy does not have gluten in it. A product made with soy may also have gluten added as well as many other ingredients. For example, most soy sauce has wheat in it. There are quite a few people on here with issues with soy that isn't gluten related. -
ARCHIVED Kids In Elementary School
kareng replied to Minette's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
A little something that will make school easier: "Is Elmer's glue gluten free? All of our products are gluten free except for the Elmer's Finger Paints. The finger paints contain wheat and oat products." Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Not So Gluten Free
kareng replied to Littllemel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Lots of foods have " no gluten added" whether they state that or not. Frozen corn has " no gluten added". But they don't label it that way. It just means they haven't tested anything for gluten. Most items don't bother saying " no gluten ingredients".. They just list the ingredients. If we required companies to test everything for gluten, the price... -
That made me smile. The all- American Dream.....a house with a gluten free cooking space!

Yes, they would be less a concern for a hair stylist than a tax accountant! However, I think it depends on where you are, too. Here, the stylists that make $75,0000+ a year don't have a lot of tattoos or pink Mohawks or lots of piercings.

I think you know you & the wife should get it together & move out. Doesn't sound like you really want to be there. But until that gets straightened out - How about a "dorm" refrigerator and a locking "camp" box for your room. Many of the small fridges have a way to put a lock on them. You could keep your PB & Mayo safe that way...

ARCHIVED Glutened Ugh! What Do You Think Got Me?
kareng replied to Metoo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is more info. Sounds like the first salad chicken likely was a problem. Since you ordered the second salad, you probably asked about it. Could be cc with cooking the chicken on a grill with bread crumbs stuck on it or they removed the croutons before serving it to you. Root beer made at a brewery could definetly have many issues. I think the one... -
ARCHIVED Glutened Ugh! What Do You Think Got Me?
kareng replied to Metoo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You're not giving us a lot to go on here. Sounds like some might have been restauraunt food & some from a friend's house? The grilled chicken from the restauraunt could have been marinated with soy sauce or lightly coated with flour before cooking? Normally, root beer wouldn't be an issue. Didn't you ask the friend who made it what was in it? It's... -
Just wanted to point out that if you are unconcious, they won't force food or drink down your throat. That would either kill you by choking or at the least, give you aspiration pneumonia. If you are in a vegetative state long enough, they might try to put a tube down and feed you. That's not just a regular procedure in the ER. I agree with Ravenwood...

I think they should be fine. I don't think they taste very good so if I need more than a spoonful, I get the tiny bottles from the liqour store. I put the lid back on and keep the left overs in the fridge.

ARCHIVED Is Marmite Gluten Free?
kareng replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Please note that the original posts are 5 years old. Any product info that old should be re- checked. -
I have to agree with Ravenwood. There may be something else going on. When you say you have a reaction to different foods, what do you mean? Your current eating is not "normal" and may be part of the problem. What I mean by normal is a balanced mix of proteins, fibers, fats, etc. When we get our digestive system out of sync, eating anything could...

ARCHIVED Gluten In Tofu

Other than the most recent post, the other info is 6 years old. You would want to re-verify any info that old as product ingredients and manufaturing practices change. -
ARCHIVED Family Says I'm Paranoid And Should Go Back To Eating Gluten
kareng replied to llama3's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Google "Celiac center" and they all have info you can print and bombard your family with. Open Original Shared Link "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage your intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms. It can take... -
ARCHIVED Feeling Like The Freak Again
kareng replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Don't know how big of a group you had, but i bet someone was a vegetarian hoping for cheese pizza and someone else is sort of Kosher ( no pork & no meat with cheese not the ones with separate plates)) or a no red meat person. Saying you are allergic and you don't want to interfer with thier food is a good thing to do. I have found that the younger the... -

Is Cream Cheese Gluten Free?
kareng replied to JJO45's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree! Also, I think we need to use some common sense. It is unlikely that crackers or bread are made in a cream cheese factory. Wheat or barley is rarely added to any dairy product. ( ice cream with cookies is an exception). Kraft makes so much cream cheese that it's likely that is all that is made in that factory. This could certainly be checked... -
ARCHIVED Need On-The-Go Breakfast Ideas

Just the ones that say gluten-free......not the ones with the oats! The oats are not gluten-free! Just want to make sure I was clear. -
ARCHIVED Packaging That Does Not Say Gluten Free Still Can Be Right?
kareng replied to ChickenLady's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Malt is malt. No need to research. Maybe you can return it? Give it to the food pantry? Some people report good results crushing up Corn Chex instead of the more expensive gluten-free cornflakes. -
ARCHIVED Need On-The-Go Breakfast Ideas
kareng replied to BeFree's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Nature valley makes an almond crunch bar that is gluten-free. It sometimes goes on sale just like the other ones do. I like to take sliced cheese and melt it on corn tortillas in the microwave, then roll or fold. Make a mix of nuts, seeds, raisins, craisins, etc. Put some in a cup in your car cup holder. If you make some muffins ahead &... -

Hi Lo! Trying to type while Hub is driving us back from Colorado. Roads are bumpy. Glad you are feeling better. I love to crockpot cook. Maybe you should continue to use a chauffer for a while. Your fences and your neighbors fences will thank you.
