  1. You can bake them like a regular potato. You can out them in chunks in a soup. I like to scrub them, boil them about 5 minutes (depends on how big they are). You don't want them mushy just partially cooked. Slice up thin, toss with olive oil & a sprinkle of salt. Spread out on a baking sheet. Roast them in the oven. When done, I like a bit of cinnamon...
  2. Just to let you know, these posts are 4 years old. These posters likely aren't still active here. Maybe someone active can help?
  3. Did you just put the pug picture on? We love pugs. When I was new, it was hard to pinpoint what bothered me. Sometimes I think it could be an accumulation of things - not enough fiber, too much fiber, to much fat, raw veggies. One or all adding up to a disturbance in the gut. ( really wanted to say in the Force). It can take months or even a year...
  4. We eat those beans all the time. I love that there is nothing in the ingredients that shouldn't be there. I can't remember about that taco seasoning. There are a few with wheat. You are new to this, why are you sure it's gluten? Why not too spicy? Cheese? Margarita? Too greasy? Lunch that's bothering you? A stomach virus? Just an in- healed...
  5. I don't think that is a US ingredient. I haven't seen anything listed like that.
  6. Usually, the best thing with medication is to call the company. They may give you a CYA statement like " We can't guarantee it's gluten-free but we add no gluten ingredients". That usually means that they don't test for gluten but they didn't knowingly put any in it.
  7. Guess what? For glasses prescriptions you would use the eye insurance. For flashes or physical injuries or illness to the eyes, you could use your health insurance. Having both when you go to the eye MD, should get you fixed up. The doctors office can figure out which pays for what parts. When you make an appointment, make sure you tell them it's ...
  8. About the eyes & Walmart : No! They are not doctors. That was what I was trying to say. They may call them doctors but they are opticians. I believe that's a 2 year degree. Some are very good but they are not MDs ( doctors). The fact that you have diabetes and odd eye symptoms makes it a very very good idea to go to an actual eye doctor - an ophthalmologist...
  9. What are the ingredients? If it contains oats - then its not gluten-free unless it says " gluten-free oats". Nature Valley has an almond nut bar that says gluten-free on the front of the box.
  10. Skylark - I wasn't even going to comment. Sadly, there is no point.
  11. This thread is ancient news. Products change in 8 years. Look in the recipe section, use the google function ( in the top right corner) to find many pizza crust recipes.
  12. In some ways, this Celiac is a blessing. Look at all the new foods I would never have heard of or tried. And some I even like!
  13. I'm going to comment on a few items. Sometimes we just have to do one or two at a time or our heads explode! I beleive that may, or may not, be a proven Celiac fact. If you now have Eye insurance, I think you might want to make an appointment with an MD not the Walmart optician. The Walmart optician is great for routine things but you might do better...
  14. I know nothing about Amaranth but this sounds great. I hate to clean up a pot when I can microwave. How do you buy it? Does it say cereal? or seeds? I have some buckwheat I wasn't thrilled with & some Bob's I love to combine.
  15. I used to do the Walmart eye doc. He was really good. He moved to his own practice. Did OK with the Walmart glasses as he checked them to make sure they were OK.
  16. Did you get gluten-free oats? Regular oats are cc'd with wheat. It's just a normal part of oats. Also, people new to the gluten-free diet are usually advised not to eat even the gluten-free oats until they have fully healed. About 10% of Celiacs react to oats like they do to gluten.
  17. Raw veggies are hard to digest, especially when you are first healing. Iceberg lettuce can be really bad & gas causing. When I first went gluten-free, I had a hard time with salads. For me, spinach was really hard. I was good with it cooked. I was just Ok with a little baby spinach like on a sandwich. I was fine with carrots, cucumbers, red peppers...
  18. I don't know if the rice is sticky. We like un- sticky brown rice. I just cook it on the stove. You could cook extra and put it in the freezer. There are also " 10 minute" versions and I even found a 90 second microwave packet. The cheapest way would be the regular.
  19. I saw that, too. I thought how awful that would be for Celiacs. I don't have DH but I'm sure you would swallow some by it getting in your mouth & breathing it in. The News said Kim asked that the " thrower" not be prosecuted.
  20. Those kid ones she linked to do seem to have the big ugly Med ALert "plate". There are some really pretty ones with a little tag for scanning or just a number. Those were the type I have heard complaints about. Women are wearing them with 3 other pretty beaded bracelets with charms and the Emergency responders & E.R. don't see it. I did like the...

    ARCHIVED Aloe Juice

If he is trying to sell the stuff, he isn't a very good sales person. He hasn't posted a link to a brand or store to purchase. He doesn't have a link on his profile to a site selling it. If he was selling it, he would tell us how great it worked and give us a way to buy it, wouldn't he? I doubt there is a large marketing campaign for the Aloe industry...
  22. If a "life saving medication" is required its unlikely to even be oral. You will get IV's and IV meds. Gluten is a large molecule and would not be in IV meds. It would clog them up and there is no need for flavors, colors, etc in an IV. They will not force an unconcious person to eat or drink anything - that could kill them by choking or aspiration into...
  23. We haven't been too funny lately! I don't really have anything Ha! Ha! funny- just odd funny? FIL and his wife have been back in town (about 2 miles from us) for a week now. This is after 2 years in Germany. Haven't heard from them. Of course, when they lived in town before, we only saw them once or twice a year. This is OK with me. They...
  24. I guess I'm not sure what you are shocked about? The description says pretty clearly, to me, that they will be doing age appropriate " yucky" stuff. I immediately thought they would make some sorts of edible worms or mud, etc. She sounds like she wants to accomadate the kids. She's probably worked with kids with allergies before and just wants the...
  25. That's so nice about your friends! If you are paying cash for the MRI, you might be able to get it cheaper. Someone paying at the time of service costs the hospital less than billing insurance companies or managing people making payments. Keep trying to eat the things that aren't your worst foods. Not eating just makes you feel worse & messes...
