ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original

That's good. Because it was the mail, they will be prosecuted. UPS or Lands End wouldn't prosecute the kid that took the package from my house. Not worth it. -

One year, a neighborhood teen was taking packages off everyones door steps. Someone saw him take a box off my porch. It was a couple of turtlenecks from Lands End. Another neighbors son was an FBI agent. He went to the kids house and flashed his badge at him & his mom. Things didn't disappear again. I'm sure he was disappointed by the turtlenecks... -

I have found every store has different stuff. I think you can go to customer service and ask if you can look around. -
ARCHIVED Parents Visiting After Baby Is Born

Stress that you will really need her help when Hub goes back to work. Then let her do a few things. Maybe she watches the baby for 15 minutes so you can go to the grocery or walk around the block or take a nice long shower. Maybe she or her hub can do lots of the baby holding so you can move freely. I know some of this is hard to understand until you... -

ARCHIVED Fruity Pebbles!
kareng replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I bet they were pretty! I looked at the grocery and some of the boxes were labelled gluten-free and some not. So I think some of the old ones have to be purchased first. -
ARCHIVED Is The Ikea Gravy Gluten Free ?
kareng replied to Dellers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
But you still made it to Ikea! I love Ikea! Wish we had one close. No matter what is in the gravy & hot dog, you may not want to eat it again. -

ARCHIVED Is The Ikea Gravy Gluten Free ?
kareng replied to Dellers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Somewhere in the back of my brain, I remember you aren't in the US ( the great land of requiring wheat to be labelled). Is it possible that the starch is wheat where you live? Probably tasted good, but those are some crazy ingredients. -

Bring whatever you want to the party but don't expect to eat it. Once the crackers and bread are being eaten, the crumbs will be in your carrot sticks and dip ( or whatever). I just went to a party where I got a drink, then stayed in one of the other parts of the party away from the food. It helped that we ate at PF Changs before and had the chocolate... -
ARCHIVED Dealing With The Holidays - Presents
kareng replied to jparsick84's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We were just given a gift card for a restaurant that claims to have a gluten-free menu but it sucks. Plus, they aren't really reliable about not putting the croutons in the boring gluten-free salad. We are re- gifting it. We have gotten food gifts we didn't like and just throw them out, give to the food pantry or feed the squirrels. -
ARCHIVED Do Gluten Particles Fade With Time
kareng replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My glass pyrex baking dishes I didn't replace because they do not have scratches and I can get them clean. The metal ones were old, so I replaced. I have found that white vinegar and water dissolves wheat flour pretty well. Since your pans are barely used, you might be able to scrub them well. -
ARCHIVED Celiac Switching From gluten-free Back To Gluten..help!
kareng replied to kostrof1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You go Sandy Girl! Its sad because there are ways, even in the military, to deal with celiac disease. If this person were to get educated with a skill that is in demand, like a nurse, some branches would probably still accept them. Maybe not to a war zone, but they would still be helping their country. The fact is, that something as important and... -

Would you be able to make your light sabers by shaping ice cream? Then coating with icing or sugar sprinkles? Needs some thought. -

Pork chops marinated in Worchesttshire (sp?) sauce , garlic & pepper. Cheese bread sticks. Red pep, onion, carrots, green beans stir fried with garlic and a bit of tamari soy sauce. Oldest picky son said make this veg more often. Younger, less picky one said it was fine as long as I didn't make him eat the red peps. I said "Yeah!" -
ARCHIVED Spent All Day In The Kitchen..
kareng replied to Roda's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Does it need to be a cake? One of mine always wanted cookies or brownies and ice cream. My neighbor has donuts. My dad likes pumpkin or apple pie. Some days it seems nothing works in the kitchen except me! -

What a nice surprise! Your party was wilder than mine. I spent a lot of time sitting on the floor, petting the host's old sick Golden. Told the host ( one of hubs bosses) that I like dogs better than people. He laughed and said he did, too. -

ARCHIVED Trying To Get My Mom To Go Gluten Free
kareng replied to Fire Fairy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I guess what I'm saying is: don't even argue the celiac disease right now. See the actual GI. Maybe you can go, too. Explain what problems she is having right now. Because of the radical surgery she had before, these GI issues should be looked into, even if there was no disease called celiac disease. Also, some meds shouldn't be taken with dairy or... -
ARCHIVED Sandy Bowel Movements
kareng replied to Kujda's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If your GI is sure the other one has celiac disease, he must consider that all your children have it. It is genetic. I have it and my kids have been tested and will be blood tested every 2 years (that was the recomendation I saw).
