  1. I would have said something like "I know that even the barley malt in the Rice Krispies and the crumbs in the bread bowl will cause an immune response and distruction of my intestines."
  2. They only time I have seen this, it was just wine cooked with spices, maybe sugar or honey and some mashed fruit that was strained out to serve. Didn't like it much.
  3. Look around this site, we have had this discussion several times in the last month or 2. Rice. You can make a bunch and reheat in the micro or with a little water. We like pasta sauce and cheese on the rice. Also, a can of beans, can of tomatoes or salsa, canned or frozen corn, cheese on top if you have it. Do they still distribute that delicious...
  4. I live with 3 gluten eaters, too. I use the oven. Use your own clean pan or glass baking dishes. If they have stuff in at the same time, you can always put a piece of foil on top of yours. I never pur pizzas directly on the rack (gluten-free or not). You might become responsible for keeping the oven and microwave clean because your standards might need...
  5. Glad you have a sense of humor about it! When my boys were little, your chair would have been the hit of the party for them! The oldest is about to go to college for mechanical engineering and the younger loves to build things, too. Because people have always been nice to show him things like thier chairs and prosthetics, he has an interest in designing...
  6. I have the iPad app "Is that gluten-free?" it lists Smart Ones frozen meals as having a gluten-free list. It is a Heinz product. Also, Thai Kitchen has some add water and you get noodles. These are usually in the rice section at the grocery and would keep well in your car, pantry or desk at work. There are some specialty frozen gluten-free meals but...
  7. Me too! The doodoo is pilling up here! So instead: A Christmas Gift A guy bought his wife a beautiful diamond ring for Christmas. After hearing about this extravagant gift, a friend of his said, "I thought she wanted one of those sporty four-wheel-drive vehicles." "She did," he replied. "But where was I going to find a fake Jeep...
  8. So you're blaming the old keyboard, too.
  9. I use Dawn dish soap on my counters. They can't have gritty or acidic cleaners. If you can use acidic cleaners, white vinegar is cheap and works well. Bleach can kill germs.
  10. I think the hardest part is the away from home stuff. Or people that want you to eat away from home. Fortunately, for me, I was never a big lover of bread, pancakes, rolls, muffins or donuts. I liked them once in a while. I have found, since going gluten-free, that foods that I didn't like before, taste good! I think being off the gluten has affected...
  11. I have been dxed for a year but had to wait 2 more months for the endo. I find it easy at home. I don't even think about it except if I'm trying to make gluten pasta for the boys and gluten-free for me. I have to think to keep everything straight or enlist a glutenous helper. Or make gluten-free for all. Going out and people who want to go to restaurants...
  12. Muffin-Head, his cat, must have mixed his drinks too strong!
  13. My boys would be mortified. Here's a present my son wants. Would be good for college living. He wants some noise eliminating/ canceling head phones to plug into his iPod. Looks like good ones can be had in the $70-80 range up to the Bose ones for $300. I think if it cancells 87% of the background noise for $70 that's pretty good.
  14. When pf changes gets an allergy order, they get a clean pan from a different shelf to cook it in. They then put it on a special plate to keep track of the gluten-free food. Not sure, but I bet a lot of the noodles for regular food are rice. I have eaten at 2 different ones, when very busy, and done well. I
  15. Might help to figure out what type of person you are. Are you a "cold turkey" kind of person? If so, get rid of all the sodas around you and just stop. Might want to get some Excederin Migrane for the headaches (has a bit of caffiene). Maybe you would be better at having half each time you would normally have a soda. Then 1/4 then none. Maybe you need...
  16. Yeah!!!!!!!! Happy Dance!!!! Hope she still feels this way in a say or two. Keep the recorded show. Maybe she would like to re-watch important parts.
  17. If you don't get much response from DC people, you might want to start a topic with Wash, DC restaurants as the title.
  18. Good for you! Where are you staying in DC? We have people from the area but it's a big place. Try googling gluten free Washington, dc. Look around on here. I know I saw some places in Old Town Alexandria mentioned here.
  19. We have gotten the Chebe bread stick mix. Yummy. Probably dense enough. We also got a pizza dough mix of theirs that was good and might work.
  20. Yes. You will have to take notes.
  21. Now that's a Santa for my collection!
  22. I couldn't tell you, since I wouldn't go back to eating gluten on purpose. Even in prison, they must give you a medically safe diet ( not tasty, just safe). Seriously, other people on here have had Celiac and been in the military. Some were allowed to continue but maybe not deploy to a " difficult" situation. If that's your situation, they probably...
  23. For the fondue, I sliced bread, put olive oil on both sides and toasted it in the oven. Could sprinkle with a little garlic powder or roasted garlic and some Parm to go with second glass.
  24. What if you lightly toasted it first? That's what did for dunking in cheese fondue.
  25. You could probably call the pharmacy and get his email. Hopefully, your OB takes this seriously and will help you. There are not much, except a pain killer, she will likely have them give you. Many years ago when I had my boys, the OB floor had a fridge full of sealed snacks like pudding cups, jello, ice cream, juice, milk and fruit. Those would be fine...
