  1. You might check some reputable diabetic sites. If you live near a hospital, the nutrion service- dietian may have free brochures you can pick up on diabetic diet. Breakfast doesn't have to be " breakfast food.". My SIL was just dxed with diabetes and the doc said to do the first part of the Atkins diet ( must be ultra low carb). Make scrambled eggs with...
  2. My mom used to make something , not entirely unlike this. She didn't blenderize it or use onion or pepper or another flavoring. Was rather boring without seasoning. This sounds good. Thanks.
  3. Good pick-up of past posts but you missed pink sausages. Can't understand why you wouldn't want to touch on that topic.
  4. I do like a little Italian sausage now and then. If its pink, its not ready...
  5. My docs & I think maybe I had it while pregnant and before. I have always had iron deficiencies but no one thought to test for other ones. It wasn't as common to do that then. I still ate wheat but my stomach issues were better during pregnancy (except morning sickness). I didn't have diarhea. That may have been due to the large amounts of iron they...
  6. Hub has hired many people in HR. He said if you have 2 you really like, you can't make a bad decision. He also said, decide what is most important - the ability to do the job really well or a personality friendly fit. Some times in small offices, personality fit is more important than how well they can do the job. Also, I know that when I have interviewed...
  7. I might like bean soup. If you want to post or Message or email or send telepathically? I like insects overall and help teach 2 nd graders about them. However, Mosquitos and ,the last few days, chiggers are on my Kill List!
  8. My Walgreens says there is a lock on the phone so they can't call long distance or 800 numbers. I emailed the main company and got 2 different responses from 2 different people on the same day. One said " talk with your pharmacist.". After I already said I had. The other asked which store & the general manager would let me know. Never heard again...
  9. I switched my perscriptions to Target Pharmacy because Walgreens doesn't allow the pharmacists to check meds for allergens and the pharmacist there said that the amount of gluten in medications doesn't matter. Just had my first experience with them and 3 perscriptions today. I called to remind them about the gluten "allergy". Just got a call, they called...
  10. Do you have an oven? Foil can be used for a pan to bake a potato or sweet potato. Can get a cookie sheet pretty cheap. This could open up a whole new cuisine (brownies).
  11. I'm thinking you'll be asking for another pan, crockpot and a microwave for your birthday or Xmas. Thai kitchen has gluten-free stuff in the regular grocery. The rice noodles are pretty cheap. Canned beans are cheap. Try them with some veggies and some bottled salsa and rice. You can make lots of rice ahead and reheat with a little veggie...
  12. Got this response just now: Dear Karen, Thanks you for taking the time to contact Redbridge. I
  13. Is she married? Could you talk to your father or step father without her? Maybe he doesn't realize what she is doing to herself? If you really have to live with her, you will have to be very careful with food. I don't know her age, but if she gets a routine colonoscopy, maybe you could get her to also do the endoscopy with biopsy at the same time. Tell...
  14. Go to the website and sign up for a "warrior card". Its free & gives you 10% off. I have also recieved email coupons for free lettuce wraps.
  15. Keep drinking and try to be in another room. That is my strategy for my FIL and his wife. Maybe the kids and the dogs can take her for many walks? That puppy could go for hours!
  16. Good use of a Celiac word!
  17. Was wondering if Nik would comment on #5. Do they still use cobbler in polite conversation? Or even not so polite? Em, did the MIL just show up at the door? Couldn't you pretend you weren't home? Had gone on vacation? Moved? Died?
  18. And your point is....?
  19. Not sure all cardboard is gluten free. Mom took cake decorating class. They decorated a styrofoam cake with real icing to practice different techniques. It was beautiful and looked real. Maybe you could serve that? Styrofoam is gluten-free.
  20. Had a babysitter from South America when J was a baby. Told me his favorite baby food was " peach clobber" .
  21. Definitions I found: cobbler Syllabification:OnOff Entry from World dictionary Pronunciation:/ˈkɒblə/ noun 1 a person whose job is mending shoes 2 [mass noun] an iced drink made with wine or sherry, sugar, and lemon 3 chiefly North American a fruit pie with a rich , thick, cake-like crust 4 (cobblers) British informal a man's testicles [from rh...
  22. I hope it is obvious to you and your Hub that you cannot leave your kids alone with them. Even when they are teens. I find the well behaved, respect- adult type teens have a hard time saying no to a trusted adult. They might believe that this is my Grandma so if she says these are gluten-free cookies, then they must be. Of course, kids can be told Grandma...
  23. So, if your Hub & kids have Celiac. Where do you suppose those genes came from? I probably would have gotten mad the second time and told her it was her or her husbands fault. She should do everything she can to make up for that!
  24. I thought it was a SUN dance? Raindances should not be done nekid. You must wear a rain slicker and wellies. The wilder colored the better. First you wash your car then perform the dance.
