  1. "If antibody tests and/or symptoms suggest celiac disease, the physician needs to confirm the diagnosis by obtaining tiny pieces of tissue from the small intestine to check for damage to the villi. This is done in an endoscopic biopsy procedure. Under sedation, the physician eases a long, thin tube called an endoscope through the mouth and stomach into the...
  2. They can't biopsy during that - so they have not actually diagnosed you with Celiac. Maybe if you had positive blood work and genetics....
  3. They can't biopsy during that - so they have not actually diagnosed you with Celiac. Maybe if you had positive blood work and genetics....
  4. I think I posted about this a few years ago. It probably wasn't the same company. but they explained that, unless you ate chunks of the plate - you might then get a little gluten. Its the way this stuff is processed and coated and glued, etc . that said, I think I would feel odd eating off a plate made from the straw from wheat if I knew about it.
  5. I am confused..... I was asking the op why they are a vegetarian. If it's not a religious reason, He or she might need to make a different choice if they need to get enough nutrition.
  6. You may have said why you don't eat meat or fish but .... maybe to be healthy you will need to add some into your diet? If you restrict yourself severely, you won't get the nutrients you need.
  7. Reacting to oats is not a " cross- reactivity". It appears that a few, maybe 8% ( can't remember the exact number) have a version of Celiac that reacts to oats. Cross- reactivity is the nonsense that a body sees coffee as gluten.
  8. When does a week end and a new count begin? Or does it roll along as a last 7 days sort of thing? I have not looked at my post count..... hmmmm
  9. I'm not giving them my gluten-free banana bread or gluten-free chocolate mint cupcakes! the double posting thing happens occasionally. Has happened to me.
  10. When I wrote my missing response, I was on my iPhone , using Chrome, as that is really the only way I can post or moderate from the iPhone. I would think it was all my internet, but slow typing and disappearing posts happen on different internets, browsers and equipment. I suppose others may have answered , but their posts have disappeared...
  11. You posted your topic twice and we responded on 1 thread. That may have been a glitch, I just hid the duplicate with no responses
  12. How did you do that? I just posted a reply and it disappears!
  13. Good posts, Notme! Lol I have a lunch tote, frozen container, etc collection. Anytime they are featured on Good Morning America at "half price/ free shipping".... I had to remove some from the freezer to put left- over turkey and bread from Thaksgiving! Ugh... I brought a very pretty and delicious salad to a funeral. I put the green stuff...
  14. Or food poisoning ..... or a stomach virus....... or just " artificial peanut extract". Maybe not glutne at all.
  15. Your lotions, make up, etc does't actually have to be gluten-free. Just whatever you might get in your mouth.
  16. Are you eating gluten free? Maybe you are missing some gluten that you are eating? If you are very gluten free, it wouldn't be from Celiac and you might want to see if there is another problem.
  17. I don't think either of those are actual " doctors". Unfortunately, in the US, you can call yourself doctor and there is little regulation. They might have good info..... but I would want to get some more scientific/ medical info to support it.
  18. No. that should be enough for Celiac testing. Open Original Shared Link Any level of IgA above 20 mg/dl should make the tTG-IgA test valid, regardless of age. .
  19. So they did a biopsy next to one of the sores and found DH? Because that is the only way to diagnoses it. But a diagnosis of DH is a diagnosis of Celiac. " Dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) is an itchy, blistering skin condition that’s a form of celiac disease. The rash usually occurs on the elbows, knees and/or buttocks, and is characterized b...
  20. Being " allergic" to " gluten" doesn't mean much. Like gluten-free said, it's a term for many different proteins, many not at all similar. A bit like telling you you are allergic to "meat". Very meat? Beef? Fish? Chicken? I am am glad you are seeing a doctor. He or she will not care much about those other " tests". Keep eating gluten like...
  21. I am moving your question out of cooking.
  22. Some of them do. You just need to read the ingredients - always!
  23. we have joked that GI doctors could introduce people.
  24. Just a heads up - this topic was from 2010.
  25. Celiac is hard enough, we just hate to see people making it any more difficult than it needs to be. Maybe you have other food sensitivities.....maybe when you have healed you will be able to tolerate other foods.... i have heard great things about the Aldi products, but I imagine they have a lot of extra ingredients, too.
