  1. Our teachers removed play doh from the room. I had offered to make it but then there would be replacing all the tools and on and on so they chose to just do away with it. I did make some for a special thing they did with the preschoolers with no tools and that stuff.
  2. What issues did you have with synthroid? If synthroid is what he needs, the issues you may have may not be the same for him. We do deal with Celiac, Hashi's and food allergies. Until my son was on synthroid, his tTG's would NOT come down. It took 6-9 months on synthroid to get his Celiac levels down to normal. I know many here don't care for synthroid...
  3. It would be an intolerance.
  4. Ahhhh. Did you ever think about the genetic test? If you do/plan on having kids I would want to know for that reason alone if I was passing on the genetics so I would know what to look for.
  5. So if you and your Dr. think you may have Celiac, why haven't you had the testing done?
  6. Have you looked into bleach baths? It sounds bad but it's less than is in a swimming pool (very very diluted). We did them for about a month with my DD along with Vanicream as recommended by a group of eczema Moms. Once things were under control, we now just need the cream. Also, less frequent baths in cooler water. Perhaps all this you already know but...
  7. Stomach issues with anxiety are common. I don't think I would make the jump from anxiety to Celiac without investigating a lot of other things.
  8. I'm glad the link is helpful to some of you. It's a thick read but I think it sums things up pretty nicely, now if all the Dr's would just read it As for the office...Yeah...you would think an office dealing with allergies would be a little more keen on keeping patients safe but unfortunately they are like any other office. We've been through 6-7...
  9. Open Original Shared Link This is the most recent (I believe). It talks about when to test and so on.
  10. I have NEVER in my time in allergy land ever heard of hypo being under control making allergies go away. I would love to see any info you have on this!!! That would be fantastic! My DS has Celiac, hashis and food allergies and a few other conditions as well. I was not implying your Dr. is giving you bad info (I wasn't there so I don't know what was discussed...
  11. I wasn't trying to pick apart your allergy. From what you are describing, it isn't an allergy. RAST testing isn't very accurate. Did your allergist prescribe an Epi Pen for you? Also, it's more common for someone with a beef allergy to be allergic to dairy but not as strong a correlation the other way around.

Besides the iron transfusions, how often do you go to the Dr? We see endo twice a year and GI once a year. I think your boss is being a jerk but it sounds (and maybe I'm reading it wrong) that you are expecting a lot of time off. Can you get some of these appointments consolidated into one day if you plan in advance? Perhaps on an infusion day?
  13. I specifically asked because a blood test will not indicate how server an allergy is. When you stated "the blood test says" it set off an alarm. If you have eaten dairy to this point with no issues but your blood test says you are "mod-serverly allergic" the blood test is most likely wrong as they are in over 50% of the cases. Allergies should not be diagnosed...
  14. Have you had an actual reaction to dairy? Why were you tested? Testing alone can not diagnosis an allergy.
  15. If you are allergic vs. intolerant, why would you risk eating it in the first place?
  16. Lol. So it sucks even more than I thought it sucked!
  17. I think it's crazy. They are only regulating using the term "gluten free". All this means is things that were labeled gluten-free now have to test. Gluten STILL doesn't need to be listed at all (only wheat as it's a Top 8 already). Overall, I think it sucks.
  18. I would not let my Celiac kid pay with play-doh. I have made it for the class. You can make your own rice flour with cheap rice and a good blender. There are also commercial products available. You can't just supply it for her either if she'll want to use the same "tools" they use cause it contaminates all the rest of hers. In preschool and K they nixed...
  19. We use Mylan generic. I have called a few times to check on different strengths and as of my latest call (I think it was in January) they said all strengths were gluten-free. I do know you need to be careful when switching brands though so you would be wise to set up an appt. for a blood draw after you switch (no matter which brand) to be sure it's keeping...
  20. Again, if you can find any literature where a celiac crises has killed someone, I would be willing to think about it again but I've found nothing like that. Perhaps saying "time to get to the ER" vs. a potentially fatal in minutes was my misuse of words. Sure, some people would have time to get to the ER but many wouldn't make it there without having been...
  21. It isn't suggested to blanket test. Both blood and skin prick tests have a 50% false positive rates. Having low or high numbers doesn't indicate how mild or server a reaction wold be. IgG testing isn't recommended even by the big alternative schools don't endorse it. IgG is suppose to be there. That's a really long list. Were you seeing reactions to...
  22. If you have time to get to the hospital, it isn't immediately life threatening so is medic alert necessary in this case?
  23. In my research I have not found any fatalities due to a celiac crisis. Is there any research that indicates this is the case? My understanding of a celiac crisis is that it is profoundly rare and typically when someone is undiagnosed (so they wouldn't have a medic alert bracelet).
  24. /\ Yeah, that!
  25. It's suggested retesting every 3 years or if symptom present. Good he's "safe" for now though!
